are the reports that Manchester united are going to bid 15m for Van Ginkel true?

So whose absence was more important today? Ronaldo, Maguire, Fred or all three.

Yore On

1.) 23 Aug 2022 06:28:19
For me it was Maguire. Ronaldo could have put a few of those chances away and Fred could have worked tirelessly in midfield. But Maguire would not have put the same tackles and effort in at the back and would have stood and watched a few of those efforts from the Pool.

I'm not a fan of the returned Ronaldo and perhaps some level of the performance could be attributed to the fact he was not on the park.

Only consistency in selection and results will prove anything conclusive.

100% Ronaldo and Maguire in my opinion.
No way Ronaldo would have put the miles in or made the runs through the defence.
Maguire would have been too slow for some of the issues the chosen defenders mopped up or blocked.

3.) 23 Aug 2022 07:10:29
The front 3 were immense, running all night, dragging defendersnall over the place. Ronaldo would not have done that at all.

4.) 23 Aug 2022 07:20:26
Maguire for me, Martinez and Varane were both standout performers. Both had a better game yesterday than Maguire has ever had for United. Hopefully this is the start of him featuring less and less.

While not mentioned in the OP, Malacia replacing Shaw also had an impact. He and Martinez worked well together defensively and he puts in a shift.

5.) 23 Aug 2022 08:27:43
Maguire Ronaldo and Shaw were the biggest omissions for me in terms of positively affecting our performance.

6.) 23 Aug 2022 09:48:51
Don't forget Dalot on Diaz (who only got away from Dalot once) . Thought Dalot who showed more aggression was excellent along with the whole back four. Klopp has a problem, they can't play any other way when chasing a game apart from doubling up on fullbacks and overloading. They have to go a goal up so they can counter. Any game they go behind they have big problems.

7.) 23 Aug 2022 11:23:04
To be fair to Fred, I thought he played well when he came on. Just the burst of energy needed in the middle of the park at that stage.

I think we gave them too much respect. Lukaku had one gud chance. Their defence should have been tested more esp in last ten minutes. Felleini or pogba might have made a difference though.

Yore On

{Ed004's Note - Pogba would have made a massive difference. We couldn’t keep hold of the ball. Herrera constantly gave it away and Matic is good at holding the ball but not as good as Pogba}

1.) 14 Oct 2017 14:45:26
Matic and Herrera were poor a team passing today. We parked the bus and played for a point. I hate to say this but Liverpool deserves 3 points today.
There keeper and defence aren’t the best. We sat back and encouraged them to attack. A point is better than a loss. I feel that we didn’t really give a true account of ourselves today. But, we’re still unbeaten.

2.) 14 Oct 2017 14:58:54
yeah, ed. I think even Fellaini would have held ball better in the midfield. Without them, central midfield was non-existent.

Congratulation to Manchester and Jose.
Gr8 to see two major signing score on the final too.

AJH, agree on the Jose point. Option 3 is move the family. Would show long term intent.

with around two weeks to go and very much excited for new season especially because every signing has improved our weak areas except for cb. if that position is covered (ala otamendi, hummels) and degea stays then.I'm sure we'll challenge the title. nevertheless well be more exciting to watch . can't wait

I predict that De Gea stays and we sign both Otamendi and Pedro.

With appointment of LVG looking imminent, and considering the fact that new managers always prefer experienced players with whom they have previous working history, surely signing of Robben or even Sneijder can't be ruled out?

Yore On

1.) It's my guess, and let's face it, that's all we are all doing, LvG will already have talked to some of the players he will 'bring with him' and I agree, it's likely to be Robben, though not Sneijder, I think that ship has long since sailed. I wouldn't be surprised to see an influx of Dutch players, which is fine by me.
Now let's get it announced, and then move on. Lots of shopping to so, I hope!

2.) Why would we need sneijder when we have Kagawa, Mata and Rooney to play the number 10 role. Robben would make sense but I would prefer Sanchez who is younger than him and would probably going to cost £15 million more

3.) Robben I think is certainly on his list and I imagine Robin and LVG have had words with him. It has been Robben's dream to play for us all his career so he will jump at the chance. But not Sneijder, he is past it and not as good as Mata. Interesting if we manage to get Fabregas though as where does that leave our bid for Kroos? Would it be Kroos deep, Fabregas and Mata in front?

4.) Its been robbens dream to play for us all his career?
Quality

5.) Robben is a well known United fan and before he joined Chelsea it is well documented that he wanted to come here. However SAF offered a derisory transfer fee so he had to go elsewhere.

6.) Jred Robben is a Untied fan and wanted to sign before he signed for Chelski.

7.) Ow come on .
When he was a kid his dad said he wanted to play for united, by coincidence united where trying to sign him at the time. By the way he signed for chelsea .
Mr liverpool carragher was an everton fan

8.) I never understood why we didn't ask for robben and sneijder as part of the ronaldo deal.

9.) He was such a big united fan that he signed for Chelsea. I presume he bleeds red as well?

10.) GDS2 - Our bid was poor and was not accepted by the club. He didn't have a choice between the two clubs.

I remember him score 4 goals as a sub in 13 minutes. Only reason he didn't scored more goals was that he played mostly as a sub and united played with 4 strikers on a rotation. Its hard to believe this is a Manchester united page.

Was that the deliberate absence of "l" in clock?
