The reported Neymar fee is set to eclipse all previous records and -
give or take a million or three - adds up to what we paid for Pogba, Lukaku and Matic.

Hypothetical questions;

A. Would you swap Pogba, Lukaku and Matic for Neymar at United? I would not.

B. Would you rather sign Pogba, Lukaku and Matic or Neymar for PSG? I don't watch them enough to know how to answer but I'm guessing some of you on here do.

I don't think psg would take all 3. Psg have obe of the most balanced midfields in Europe imo. At the moment they don't need matic they already gave maituidi, veratti, rabiot, krycowiak, motta and rabiot who can play deep. They may also not need a pogba type as they have draxler, pastore, di maria abd Ben arfa who prefer to play in an advanced midfield position; but dye to it being pogba I think they would be interested and move on other players for him. Lukkaku us the only one when I look at their squad and say they need a player like him due to a lack of numbers.

Now psg really lack a wide creative forward like neymar. The have Di Maria and moura who both prefer the right if played on the flank and what jese who likes to play left with draxler being pushed there when needs must.

The addition of neymar gives them great balance throughout the squad and a potential midfield attack of verratti, maituidi, draxler, neymar, cavani, di maria. Very frightening especially when the likes of rabiot, moura, pastore can only make the bench if they hold onto all their players this summer.

2.) 03 Aug 2017 09:27:05
Forgot to say I would not take neymar over those 3 in our club. We have done some very good business this summer and need those 3 mentioned more than neymar to balance our first 11; but would rather have matuidi or rabiot than matic if I was being picky.

3.) 03 Aug 2017 11:34:57
I'm a huge fan of neymar and was gutted to hear we weren't in for him as well. But I wouldn't swap him for those 3. Pogba is the best midfielder in the world for me and he'll show it this season. However I would swap the 3 transfers we've done THIS window for him, Lukaku, Matic and and Lindelof. I know that those were positions that needed filling, but I've always wanted neymar to play for us.

I would give Sanchez a piggy back from the Emirates to Old Trafford if we signed him. And if Ed managed to swap him for Smalling I'd tow Mike the other way using a rope connected to my nuts.

In other similar likelihood news, I am just off for a 4 way romantic rendezvous with the Pope, Rihanna and a goat named Dave.

1.) 13 Jul 2017 00:49:52
That was in follow up to the post down the page on Smalling going the other way to bring Sanchez to us. My promise stands in its own though!

2.) 13 Jul 2017 08:50:36
Funnier things have happened.

Who saw Cantona or Cole before they happened? Keane was nearly at Blackburn, who saw Martial being the target?

I hope the goat is friendly.

So Riyad Mahrez has declared he has wanted out of Leicester for a year.

Does that explain the drop on form? Although a return of 10 goals (4 in the CL) in an our od form team (down from 18 last season) is still only equaled by Mata, narrowly beaten by Rashford and Miki and of course smashed by Zlatan.

Game changer on his day and I think he'd excel surrounded by better players (no offense to Leicester) . I'd take him in an instant but don't feel strongly enough to have a melt down about our lack of signings if someone else sign him.

Zlatanian

1.) 30 May 2017 23:14:04
I'd take him, would add major quality wide right, not the quickest but he's one of them that dosent really need it to go past people, reminds me of Chris waddle in ways, he's most certainly top class on his day anyway even tho he's had a season off like hazard did they year before and I couldn't agree more about him excelling even further with better players around him.

2.) 30 May 2017 23:35:21
No thanks. Not United quality and when not the main man he won't shine. I'd rather play Martial or give Perreira a chance.

3.) 30 May 2017 23:43:27
Agree Stretfordender. Interesting view Eric. If a player crowned player of the year 1 short year ago is not United quality, then not many of our current squad are either. Wait a minute.

4.) 31 May 2017 05:45:38
"On his day". Nani was great on his day too, unfortunately his day didn't happen too often either.

5.) 31 May 2017 07:20:17
Chris Waddle!? 😂.

6.) 31 May 2017 08:03:57
AJH was Nani ever awarded player of the year? And who from our squad is better than Mahrez? I think he'd be a great signing for whoever gets him. Let's see next season.

7.) 31 May 2017 12:02:12
Nani was crowned player of the year once. Mahrez proved last season he is a one season wonder and we don't need him. Play Rash on the right instead and buy a striker.

8.) 31 May 2017 12:17:06
Not sure what's funny about Chris Waddle. I made the comparison because they both played off the right and are left footed. Both not blessed with pace but fantastic dribblers, waddle was a good player in teams not really even at his level and he got 62 caps for England when they didn't just give caps away, you clearly have a bad memory or just uneducated.

Non Pogba related post coming up!

Is tonight our biggest game of the season so far? For me it is, but will be superceded by upcoming league games (unless 4th looks out of the question) and further Europa League games if we get a result tonight.

I guess it comes down to which is the more likely route back into the CL.

One thing for sure. We need a response from the lads tonight and I for one can't wait. Come on United!

Zlatanian

1.) 15 Mar 2017 13:30:44
Zlatan - we play tomorrow I believe mate (wouldn't want you to have the pizza and beer ready to just have City on the box, although it should be a good game) .

I think it's a big game for us, but we should turn these over 4/ 5-0 imo. Europa is our best hope for CL football and it's our major hope I agree.

2.) 15 Mar 2017 18:01:24
I'd like to blame a typo but I've thought it was Thursday all day and even sorted control of the remote for later as a result!

Just twigged when checking for team news. What a person.

{Ed025's Note - you know when they say.."that bloody fella doesn,t know what day it is"...they must have been talking about you mate.. :)

3.) 15 Mar 2017 18:41:09
True that today Ed. It's been one of those weeks/ months/ years. One or the other. I don't know really.

Anyway the logical pizza and beer is ready so might as well watch City. Not sure if I should cheer on the other lot or hope City stay on for longer to clog up their fixtures.

{Ed025's Note - you should cheer city on zlatanian, you are from the same city and when liverpool play i always want them to win.. :)

4.) 15 Mar 2017 19:21:12
To be honest I'll probably not bother watching it. I don't really care that much who wins and as I get older I find football difficult to watch unless United are playing; and even that was tedious last season.

Roll on tomorrow.

5.) 16 Mar 2017 08:17:55
Another game where Beast says we should be winning 4/ 5-0, you say that every week Beast haha.

On this occasion I kind of agree with you, I think we will win quite comfortably, Rostov missed their chance to put pressure on on that terrible pitch and we will have too much class for them. I would take a 1-0 right now and into the quarters though, no 5-0 needed.

Nail. Head. Hit. Good post Shappy.

I quite like how some of the pundits can't help but be enthusiastically obvious that they are fans of a club they played for (regardless of club) e. g. Ian Wright. It doesn't matter which club, for me it's about it showing them as still being a normal bloke after living their dream and earning enough £ not to have to work.

Talented player but needs a team to be built around him, and he's not talented or applied enough to get that at a top club. Plus, he personifies the opposite of a "Jose player"! I wouldn't pick him ahead of Lingard, Alexis, Mata, Rashford, or the pre-slump Martial. I'd also rather Pogba play further forward with another midfielder in behind him than in a 2 with Shaqiri as 1 of the attacking 4. A big fat no from me. He'll probably end up joining a smaller club. Liverpool perhaps?

I don't get the anti Blind brigade. Chelsea won the league with Alonso and Moses at full back and neither were fancied. Blind is an intelligent and dependable footballer and will be vital this season given a) we don't know if Shaw will fulfil his potential b) Rojo is injured and not a full back c) Lindelof will need time to settle d) Jones is made of glass and e) Smalling is average. I like his versatility for those reasons bit also don't buy versatility being much of and advantage from the bench given most combinations of 7 subs can cover every position.

I'd be fine if we don't sign any more players this summer and next summer move on a few and only sign players who will walk in to the 11 e. g. Griezman.

All the best to the lad. So much promise unfulfilled. Hope he can get back on track in Spain. His farewell message was a nice touch albeit came across as a little bitter by referencing "some of the coaching staff"; clearly some people he has issues with and I'm guessing this is Jose and staff.
In today's prices £10m is nothing! Iheanacho is going for 2.5 times the price.

Hope it doesn't happen and would like to see Martial knuckle down and earn a place in the first 11. Exciting season ahead.

Similar to Mata. On a free he'd be a good addition to the squad but not necessarily an obvious first 11 upgrade in my opinion. It would really annoy Wenger to lose both Ozil and Sanchez for free and that would be an added bonus. For the record, I'd much rather Sanchez though.

Sanchez will go to City and be amazing. I'd be over the moon if he did a Dimitar and fooled all of the media on deadline day but can't see it. I don't get all the hate on his "attitude"?

I'm with DSG. As a sport, super agents and mortgaged ownership taking money out of the game is a bigger problem for grass roots than mega rich owners throwing their petty cash around. Appreciate the two compliment one another to a certain extent (e. g. without silly transfers there would be no super agents) but the fact is large chunks of the Neymar fee will have left the game as it pass through PSG to Barcelona to Dortmund to X to Y. Thing is, it's no longer primarily a sport and hasn't been for years. As "customers" we have to get over it or find another "sport" to take our custom to. Simple.

Ps if I win the super billionaire lottery ever I am buying Liverpool, sacking Klopp, appointing Wenger on a 10 year deal, selling the entire squad, replacing them with unknown French under 21's and spending the difference on converting the trophy room into a chocolate teapot factory.
