Whats all this about Martial . with the squad at 12,00 today, then drove off apparently . not in squad at all now. Toys out the pram? genuine reason for leaving? interesting.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 13 May 2018 14:41:06
He is injured.

2.) 13 May 2018 14:43:24
MUTV saying it's an injury.

3.) 13 May 2018 15:55:12
Carricks last game, last game of the season and he is not in the stands, not going to be on the pitch with the others at the end of the season? Cannot see it as an injury myself.

4.) 13 May 2018 16:31:59
If he's thrown a strop he can go. Sick of time wasters and bottle jobs.

5.) 13 May 2018 17:04:23
Wasn't pictured at training Friday didn't arrive with the squad today .
Or so it was reported.

6.) 13 May 2018 18:05:09
Rumours his missus went into labour.

7.) 13 May 2018 18:18:29
If he was injured he’s at his own stadium, doubt it was that urgent he couldn’t be with the squad.

8.) 13 May 2018 19:26:43
I m making a wild guess that Jose want Justine Klubeirt and so he is driving Martial Out. he is making sure things stay in a way that he surely leaves.
Now I m not saying what type of decision it could be.
But just a guess.

9.) 14 May 2018 13:56:18
Is that Justin's sister?

10.) 14 May 2018 17:51:38
GDS, it's the name he goes by every other Saturday night in that club you love in Amsterdam. Lol.

11.) 14 May 2018 18:19:01
He’s not good enough to acting like a diva. bring in Bale and flog him if he’s playing up.

I’d love to see him work out, but under Jose it’s just not going to happen for him and not sure he has the fight to play for us. Shame.

12.) 15 May 2018 23:59:44
Martial needs to move on for the benefit of his career. Another expensive Depay. Loads of hype. Again don't think he a talented as people make him out. I see a guy that's pretty inconsistent.

20 Jan 2018 22:51:23
Back page of "the sun" journo called Nixon writing that Wenger asked about Luke Shaw during Sanchez negotiations and was told no way.

15 Aug 2017 10:22:21
Couple of media outlets in France including L"equipe reporting today Aurier is going to Spurs .

boyfromburrenway

1.) 15 Aug 2017 11:09:16
Don't think that's the worst thing in the World. Is not a very bright man, that comes across very arrogant and disruptive. Decent enough player, but that doesn't make up for the baggage he comes with.

Lucky for us I don't think it's an area we are truly desperate to sort out. I think Valencia will be first choice and despite his critics I do like Darmian and rb is his best position. You can't beat having an Italian defender when you need to defend.

2.) 15 Aug 2017 15:12:04
Bear, have to disagree there.

Aurier is not without his issues but I think Jose will know how to handle him. RB is an area we need to strengthen. Tony V has done a great job filling in but can't play 60 games a season there. Aurier is (allegedly) available for a decent price and is an upgrade on Darmian and Tuanzebe, possibly on Tony V, too.

3.) 15 Aug 2017 15:31:36
Ed002 said in recent sharkopod Aurier will likely join, doesn't see why he won't, he agreed to join Inter and Juve per reports too.

4.) 15 Aug 2017 15:31:44
All correct was agree in full.

5.) 15 Aug 2017 16:48:14
I wonder if peoples tune changes if he was coming to us:)

6.) 15 Aug 2017 17:46:07
Massive upgrade at right back for us, but also a massive tool. We shall see where ends up.

7.) 15 Aug 2017 20:08:23
I though the ed said it was a deal that could be done as the player was available .
Is he really a massive upgrade at RB?
Do people think Jose is going to drop Tony?

8.) 16 Aug 2017 08:25:01
Tony is 32 and has a niggling knee injury that may cause issues this season. I'd go all out and get him, and use Darmian / Shaw / maybe Blind at left back this season.

Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan him but he can't do it all season alone and our system relies on fit full backs overlapping.

We talk about youngsters a lot on here filling in but this season we need to go for the title. If they are good enough they'll get a game. If not, we will buy replacements.

9.) 16 Aug 2017 12:12:55
Eric but Tony will be first choice and play most the games do you think aurier would come to sit on the bench .
Or do you see Jose dropping Tony?

18 Jul 2017 19:31:35
Hard to imagine who we will turn to if we don't get Matic/ Dier/ Fabinho as all seem out of reach for one reason or another -

This is not a question for the EDs BTW -they have explained who are targets are (ED 02 in detail) just saying things can change in a heartbeat but the 3 mentioned plus Bakyako/ Naingoglan as options also out the picture now

Interesting few weeks ahead.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 18 Jul 2017 19:50:51
I wonder if considering the situation with griezmann now if they wouldn't go back to trying saving in midfield.

2.) 18 Jul 2017 20:03:09
I don't think we will turn to anyone if his targets aren't available, panic buys like we did with fellaini is not the answer and I don't think it's a root Jose will go down here, Carrick will still give u a quality 20 games a season, Herrera can play that role although I prefer him pressing higher up at tempo, and hopefully pereira and TFM will prove to be valuable squad players if called upon.

3.) 18 Jul 2017 20:13:57
Hate us to go into panic mode as we did with Fellani - I think Jose isn't that way inclined, but I do think its a position that needs filling to get the best out of Pogba and Herrera - this coming season could be one of the most competitive for years so is it really the time to be relying on Pereira and TFM, although nothing would be sweeter than one of them being a success in the first team?

4.) 18 Jul 2017 21:19:58
Why is Matic no longer an option?

5.) 18 Jul 2017 21:20:16
Does anyone know if there's a possibility we could get griezmann in the January window? or to have any chance it'll have to be next summer? I know it will be difficult for AM to find cover in January, but could this have been arranged now, for a January deal to happen?

6.) 18 Jul 2017 21:44:22
Arsenal were playing some of their best football when cazorla was plaing in the middle dictating play. Mikki or mata could do a similar job. Not saying to do it just there are loads of other options already within the squad. So as people have said its better to get the target you want or wait till one is available.

7.) 18 Jul 2017 21:40:29
Weigl.

8.) 18 Jul 2017 23:00:08
Renato Sanches? Jose's did mention the name sanches where many assumed he was talking about Alexis Sanchez but may well have been Rebato Sanches or the other could be to push Phil Jones in to the midfield role.

9.) 18 Jul 2017 23:38:51
Don't fancy Phil Jones in midfield but Renato Sanches would be a great buy, he ran the show at the euros and isn't having any joy at Bayern. Bet they would let him go to.

10.) 19 Jul 2017 04:38:39
Fuser - apart from the excellent info here from the EDs, most of us I suspect look for info from the media and most outlets are saying Juve are in strongly for Matic, he is happy to go there and Chelsea don't want to sell to us . Conte seems a volatile sort I bet he wouldn't be too pleased if the board sold Matic to us .

Just my take on it.

11.) 19 Jul 2017 07:39:22
Juve don't seem to be willing to pay Matic's asking price though (around 40 million) . You guys just need to pay up the asking price and I'm sure Granovskaia will be very happy to sell to you ;-)

12.) 19 Jul 2017 11:12:36
The Matic deal will happen. Matic is already forcing Chelsea's hand saying that he want's to leave.
I expect the Matic deal to happen before the Perisic deal which is just getting silly now.
If Jose wants the player so badly then just pay the bloody money to Inter and get it done. I think we are all sick of it now.

14 Jul 2017 16:06:08
Just mentioning it as this is a rumour site and this particular one is possibly as daft as most -some Italian Journo saying Persic deal is dragging on as Inter want an unnamed UTD player included in any deal.

Apart from Fellani and Darmian (I am not a fan of either) I can't see who it could be unless they fancy Mata or Martial and are just taking a hopeful punt as its silly season.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 14 Jul 2017 18:48:00
Darmian united offered but was cash that still wasn't enough apparently.

2.) 14 Jul 2017 19:05:18
no end of media outlets saying in last hour its MARTIAL -straight swap or swap +cash.

In what world does a promising young footballer like Anderson Talisca think or his agent think its a great idea to now move to China? , to play with better players, get better coaching, get in his national team, what message does it send to future employers about ambition and self improvement?

He may not be a world beater if he stays in Europe but surely China is a backward step. apart from the huge money . how sad to not have a family member or ex coach or teacher to sit him down and wise him up.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 10 Jun 2018 11:07:57
It’s only a 6 month loan. But yeh I do agree.

2.) 10 Jun 2018 12:14:17
This guy will retire at the age of around 35. He's worked very hard since his childhood to be good at only one thing. Why not have some money for when you retire as you never know how things will turn out in the future. Not every player becomes a coach.

3.) 10 Jun 2018 12:34:46
A world where we all move for economic reasons. Don’t forget, whilst we’d all love to be pro footballers, many of these lads simply see it is a job like any other. Some move for money, others move for prestige, some are happy where they are. They’re people with their own motivations and priorities in life and they can go to wherever they want.

4.) 10 Jun 2018 13:39:17
Because he's paid buttons at Benfica? He probably has enough on the bank to retire now and live more comfortably than most fans.

5.) 10 Jun 2018 16:46:44
I don't think you can begrudge anybody a chance to make more money. South Americans tend to come from rather poor back rounds. He probably has a big family and a lot of friends relying on him for a better standard of life.

6.) 10 Jun 2018 22:57:28
Maybe there is a strategic reason for him going there for six months. Imagine how valuable he might be in the January transfer window to a champions league team plus he would not be tired out playing as he will be in a second rate league.

06 Jun 2018 12:49:28
Good news about Fred if we now get Rose we will have a killer team. Shame taribo West retired would have given us plenty of bodies in the wall.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 06 Jun 2018 13:37:28
TOO SOON! :)

2.) 06 Jun 2018 21:03:04
I don't see the hype with rose. He seems to get caught out of position way too much and doesn't really offer much going either way except for a bit of speed. I'd rather us go for Tierney from Celtic, now he looks like he's going to be a fantastic player, i'd say he's already better than rose. But by all reports he's very happy at his home town club and won't be looking to leave anytime soon, so I'd go for David alaba if we get a chance. He is the real deal and he impresses me every time u watch him play. I'd say he would be a simular price to rose aswell. Spurs will pull our pants down for any deal for any of their players especially with woody in charge of negotiations levy would have a field day.

3.) 06 Jun 2018 22:50:06
I don't think anyone got the joke.

4.) 06 Jun 2018 23:25:02
ooh matron!

5.) 07 Jun 2018 06:38:39
Over all the heads RWWD.

I think the 8 disagreeing don't want taribo west or Danny rose 🤣.

6.) 07 Jun 2018 07:31:22
Haha that was a top post.
It was to die for.

7.) 07 Jun 2018 12:51:56
Just a bit of fun, no offence meant to anyone of course.

04 Jun 2018 15:37:57
Anyone else watch the "football godfathers" its Geoff Shreeves in conversation with a manager for an hour -its on History channel - looking at the careers of 5 managers so far I've seen LVG and Houllier .

LVG has had some amazing success and given debuts to some great players -Houllier too -

Anyway, what was interesting is that both said 2 years is needed before you can implement what you want, yes there are exceptions but they trget 2 years as to when they feel they and the players, the set up, the coaching is in place to move forward.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 04 Jun 2018 16:49:52
Two years to implement. 'the philosophy'

Gives me shudders thinking about it again.

2.) 04 Jun 2018 17:42:12
I didn't like LVG -saw him in a different light though, he went into the youth set up at Ajax and then Barcelona. the list of players he gave debuts to is incredible-

Houllier was a school teacher, within 10 years of taking on a semi professional team as player manager he had won the French premier league - he gave it all up to go back to his real passion "teaching" which meant he was tasked with implementing his philosophy (his words) from grass roots upwards -when France won the world cup the french manager gave Houllier his medal as without him none of the players would have come through, and the style fo play would never have evolved.

3.) 04 Jun 2018 20:21:25
Decent programmes on History at the moment. I’m currently watching FIFA World Cup official film, Italia 90.
Wednesday night they’ve got ‘One night in Turin’. Gets you right in the mood for the World Cup.

4.) 05 Jun 2018 01:44:36
I think the World Cup is so over-rated.

29 May 2018 19:30:37
Anyone listen to the MEN podcast today? 3 journos sat round the table Ciaran Kelly said talks with Alderwield are a month old now and fairly positive. also all in for a left back but cash may dictate right back needs to wait . however the 3 interesting points for me were :

Fred : comment was made that Pep rates him very highly, different sort of player to what we are used to with JM which was encouraging as he is definately a ball winning, pass playing thinker who will dictate play . let's see.

Coach McKenna : Went in very "sgt major like " was the term used when he first came. very much tough love my way or the highway . won a lot of respect from the players then eased off and impressed all around him with how he built team spirit with good football.

Carrick-works a lot with the midfielders and the whole squad looking to him as being the link between Jose and them. very popular apparently.

boyfromburrenway

{Ed004's Note - It appears the right back signing is going to be Dalot. Never seen him play or heard of him so if we have any Portuguese watchers feel free to comment. I would be very happy if we could nail down Alderwereld, Sandro and Fred. It would easily take us up a few notches. Very positive news in regards to the coaching staff}

1.) 29 May 2018 19:52:08
With dalot being relatively young, looks like mourinho wants to keep valencia as first choice but having someone to put some pressure on his position and then take over in a couple of seasons.

Would have thought fosu mensah could fill that role though ed004?

2.) 29 May 2018 19:54:33
That is some good news. Sort the full backs mf and a cb. We probabbly don't even need anyone else if we can get the other players firing.

The only position we will struggle with is the striker.

3.) 29 May 2018 20:25:11
Do you think tfm is a future rb? . I think he could well have a future at cm.

4.) 29 May 2018 20:23:29
DSG - I listened to the podcast while I was working, I wasnt giving it 100% attention when one of the journos said TFM / Tuanzebe might struggle for game time next season - the general consensus was Shaw/ Blind/ darmian out but that leaves a lot of defenders and in Midfield FRED + 1 other coming in doesn't leave much opportunity in midfield for either of them so maybe both out on loan.

27 May 2018 07:56:21
More Ronaldo returns rumours. YAWN. please not 6 weeks of this media nonsense. When he was with us we were winning every thing. imagine his face now each week when we are top 3 or 4 only (which is how I see us now as a top 4 side presently)

That ship has sailed. good luck Ronnie whatever you do, but just not with us.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 27 May 2018 10:54:49
As I said above, he’s still better than anything we have up front. Says rather a lot about our transfer policy that we still have not managed to adequately replace him. Sanchez should be that talisman next season though.

2.) 27 May 2018 12:00:12
It doesn't say anything about our transfer policy. Nobody can replace Ronaldo. He's the best player on earth. Replacing him is not an option.

3.) 27 May 2018 21:57:43
bale and ronaldo even? lol.

Interesting that Calderon ex Madrid president is mouthing off saying Perez and ZZ were constanty at odds. one of the problems is that Perez wanted rid of Navas and wanted ZZ to buy the keeper from Bilbao . whoever he is? according to the express/ star / sun .

Havent seen those Griezman rumours but its always struck me as odd that JM hasn't kept him in the frame . obviously wanted him and by all accounts we were close to getting him - now he is "available" again, human nature says JM just suddenly would not be interested in him -yes we got RL "instead" Fergie always wanted Batistuta, Van Persie, Lewondowski . so I can imagine JM has always considerd Griezeman as one that got away.

Griezeman meets EDS galatico policy and JM likes him a lot. so its not completely impossible just very doubtful to me.

Martial leaving puts a new slant on it all, if that's what happens this summer as the lad seems unsettled.

Couldnt agree more Dannyc - when you think he is a foreigner, came to us as a skinny kid and got hammered in the press, lives alone as his parents went back to Spain (i think his brother did too) his girlfriend lives in Spain . take all that into consideration and yet he really loves the club and had never agitated for a move after the Moyes/ LVG madness . got to respect the man.

Best in the world in my opinion.

Someone has to take Smalling to one side and smack that stupid holding and wrestling out of him.

I watched the 2nd divison play off at wembley ref gave every holding/ wrestling decision -including a penalty and he looked at the defender when he blew the whistle for the penalty as if to say "you give me no choice moron " Will cost us big time if he doesn't cut it out.

His agent has got a nice dig in at Sanchez . "all going well for him until the january window and we know what happened then"

A lot of truth in that though, Pogba, Martial and Rashford lost the dynamic since Sanchez came but I guess he is here to stay.

Only hope we don't sell him cheap now.

Allan, my abiding memory of Rojo in WC final was being inside his own area on the left, turning back to play it back to the keeper, seeing a forward lurking, changing his mind . then going forward 6 feet, turning back and playing a blind pass all the way across his area to the right back who was forced into putting it behind for a corner because of the lurking forward closing him down that Rojo had forgotten about 5 seconds earlier.

Never a top 4 team defender.3 good games in 10.
