Big worry if Dave the Save is now reluctant to sign a new contract as is widely reported - can only think PSG would be viable destination today.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 08 Oct 2018 17:54:35
Real Madrid could still be a serious option. Navas isn't getting any younger and Coutois hasn't been great since the move. They could easily go back in for DDG either on a free or below his true worth when he only has a year left on his contact.

2.) 09 Oct 2018 08:42:24
Why would DDG sign a new contract?
We don't know where we are going.

He will be a huge loss if he leaves. But the way things are, I don't see any top player staying if given a chance to leave!

3.) 09 Oct 2018 09:45:13
Don’t see where DDG goes, Real are ok, Barcelona too, maybe Bayern or PSG but less competitive leagues, anywhere else even if we aren’t on top atm is a backward step.

4.) 09 Oct 2018 10:34:36
If he left who could blame him?
Probably the best keeper in world football for about 6 seasons now and what’s he got to show for it
If he’d got his move to Real Madrid he’d have a couple of CL winners medals in his back pocket . The way things look for us it’s hard to see us seriously challenging for league or CL for a couple of seasons at the very least.

5.) 09 Oct 2018 14:54:01
Juventus have Szczesny in goal. I appreciate he misses Spain, but that screams out at me.

Ultimately he has been a great player for us, not one of our fans should have any hard feelings if he leaves. He signed for a great club, he now plays for a club I barely recognise.

Wouldn't mind a little swapsy with Athletico for Oblak.

6.) 10 Oct 2018 19:41:05
As I understand it the contract is almost done, but he wants a clause that states he won't ever be used as a center back.

04 Aug 2018 20:56:27
Several reports saying TFM going out on loan to Hertha Berlin.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 04 Aug 2018 21:28:55
Would be a shame as would have like to have seen him get more minutes. Especially with Valencia out and Dalot an unknown quantity. Hope this doesn’t mean darmian won’t be moved on. Guess we will have to wait and see how this pans out.

2.) 04 Aug 2018 22:11:30
Surely means a Darmian is staying now. The Italian international could be a revelation in a 3-5-2, or indeed at right back used properly.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

3.) 04 Aug 2018 22:24:11
Intersting Ed. Darmian def leaving then.

Very, very busy time coming up with ins and outs.

4.) 05 Aug 2018 04:08:03
Tfm will benefit from that i hope he plays in his more natural position. Periera looks a better player following n his ex perience should have sent martial on loan last season we could have got back a much more rounded player.

5.) 05 Aug 2018 07:40:55
With darmian likely leaving and dalot and valencia injured i'm guessing we'll have to play tuanzebe lindeloff at right back?

6.) 05 Aug 2018 07:41:40
Darmian will go to Italy so there is still plenty of time to shift him out as the deadline only changed in the prem.

We may use him the first couple of games whilst we wait on Valencia and Dalot and then sell him.

7.) 05 Aug 2018 07:59:40
If a LB is signed, then we may even see Young shifted to the right with Shaw and the new LB on the left. Final few days may be exciting and nerve wrecking. Checking the sites every 15-20 mins.

8.) 05 Aug 2018 09:22:37
We have Valencia and Dalot, Jones, Bailly, Lindelof, new signing, Shaw and Young, enough to cover any formation without Darmian. Presuming Smalling and Rojo leave that is aswell.

9.) 05 Aug 2018 15:39:02
Personally I’d keep Smalling and sell rojo and add Toby. Job done at centre half.

Still think we need a real left back more than a right forward if we are to make another purchase.

If Pogba leaves we will most definitely need to replace him too.

13 May 2018 14:16:43
Whats all this about Martial . with the squad at 12,00 today, then drove off apparently . not in squad at all now. Toys out the pram? genuine reason for leaving? interesting.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 13 May 2018 14:41:06
He is injured.

2.) 13 May 2018 14:43:24
MUTV saying it's an injury.

3.) 13 May 2018 15:55:12
Carricks last game, last game of the season and he is not in the stands, not going to be on the pitch with the others at the end of the season? Cannot see it as an injury myself.

4.) 13 May 2018 16:31:59
If he's thrown a strop he can go. Sick of time wasters and bottle jobs.

5.) 13 May 2018 17:04:23
Wasn't pictured at training Friday didn't arrive with the squad today .
Or so it was reported.

6.) 13 May 2018 18:05:09
Rumours his missus went into labour.

7.) 13 May 2018 18:18:29
If he was injured he’s at his own stadium, doubt it was that urgent he couldn’t be with the squad.

8.) 13 May 2018 19:26:43
I m making a wild guess that Jose want Justine Klubeirt and so he is driving Martial Out. he is making sure things stay in a way that he surely leaves.
Now I m not saying what type of decision it could be.
But just a guess.

9.) 14 May 2018 13:56:18
Is that Justin's sister?

10.) 14 May 2018 17:51:38
GDS, it's the name he goes by every other Saturday night in that club you love in Amsterdam. Lol.

11.) 14 May 2018 18:19:01
He’s not good enough to acting like a diva. bring in Bale and flog him if he’s playing up.

I’d love to see him work out, but under Jose it’s just not going to happen for him and not sure he has the fight to play for us. Shame.

12.) 15 May 2018 23:59:44
Martial needs to move on for the benefit of his career. Another expensive Depay. Loads of hype. Again don't think he a talented as people make him out. I see a guy that's pretty inconsistent.

20 Jan 2018 22:51:23
Back page of "the sun" journo called Nixon writing that Wenger asked about Luke Shaw during Sanchez negotiations and was told no way.

15 Aug 2017 10:22:21
Couple of media outlets in France including L"equipe reporting today Aurier is going to Spurs .

boyfromburrenway

1.) 15 Aug 2017 11:09:16
Don't think that's the worst thing in the World. Is not a very bright man, that comes across very arrogant and disruptive. Decent enough player, but that doesn't make up for the baggage he comes with.

Lucky for us I don't think it's an area we are truly desperate to sort out. I think Valencia will be first choice and despite his critics I do like Darmian and rb is his best position. You can't beat having an Italian defender when you need to defend.

2.) 15 Aug 2017 15:12:04
Bear, have to disagree there.

Aurier is not without his issues but I think Jose will know how to handle him. RB is an area we need to strengthen. Tony V has done a great job filling in but can't play 60 games a season there. Aurier is (allegedly) available for a decent price and is an upgrade on Darmian and Tuanzebe, possibly on Tony V, too.

3.) 15 Aug 2017 15:31:36
Ed002 said in recent sharkopod Aurier will likely join, doesn't see why he won't, he agreed to join Inter and Juve per reports too.

4.) 15 Aug 2017 15:31:44
All correct was agree in full.

5.) 15 Aug 2017 16:48:14
I wonder if peoples tune changes if he was coming to us:)

6.) 15 Aug 2017 17:46:07
Massive upgrade at right back for us, but also a massive tool. We shall see where ends up.

7.) 15 Aug 2017 20:08:23
I though the ed said it was a deal that could be done as the player was available .
Is he really a massive upgrade at RB?
Do people think Jose is going to drop Tony?

8.) 16 Aug 2017 08:25:01
Tony is 32 and has a niggling knee injury that may cause issues this season. I'd go all out and get him, and use Darmian / Shaw / maybe Blind at left back this season.

Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan him but he can't do it all season alone and our system relies on fit full backs overlapping.

We talk about youngsters a lot on here filling in but this season we need to go for the title. If they are good enough they'll get a game. If not, we will buy replacements.

9.) 16 Aug 2017 12:12:55
Eric but Tony will be first choice and play most the games do you think aurier would come to sit on the bench .
Or do you see Jose dropping Tony?

Happy new year all. Once again OGS says the obvious, and the mood lifts. Speaking about Sanchez, saying he is raring to go, and is finding the net in training regularly. all very well but the most significant comment is along the lines of - (paraphrasing) to get the best out of him we need movement in and around him, he thrives on that with the ball on the floor - Wow, hands up if you had never seen Sanchez at Arsenal playing exactly that way?

Hope we see the Sanchez we thought we were getting. Tough game tomorrow night -Shelvey usually plays like Pirlo against us.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 01 Jan 2019 12:49:17
I made a point about Sanchez some months ago, to get the best out of him we needed to push the back line up the field 10 yards and connect midfield with attack. Ole has done that in the old SAF way plus has them supporting each other better further up the pitch. Adding someone like Sanchez higher up the pitch with more support could bring dividends. Our problem remains defensively and leaving space behind will cause issues, DDG is not a sweeper keeper. I hope and expect the Arsenal Sanchez to turn up a bit like the Juventus Pogba has. Enjoy the ride tomorrow night!

2.) 01 Jan 2019 13:05:07
Final nail in the Jose coffin if Sanchez comes back and bags 15 goals+ in the second half of the season - which he quite rightly should be doing if utilised correctly. He should be the No7 we have been waiting for as he is top quality. Fingers crossed.

3.) 01 Jan 2019 13:14:27
Ole's just done the basics to get the best out of this set of players. We didn't have the right set of players to play the Jose way and he shouldn't have tried to shoe horn the wrong tactics in. Red man is right we still look a little shaky at the back but this style will work against 90% of teams.

4.) 01 Jan 2019 13:16:50
I really believe Sanchez will be like a new signing if we keep playing this style of fast paced, pressured, attacking football.

The prospect of Pogba, Martial, Rashford and then Sanchez in this form is very exciting.

I hope we buy a high quality RB this winter and maybe a midfield maestro of Verratti's calibre.

5.) 01 Jan 2019 13:26:39
Eric

I maintain there are questions over some of the players commitment levels for the previous manager. Yes Ole has been more positive but there was no excuse not to give everything when playing for the shirt. If Sanchez like Pogba suddenly becomes superman it raises questions whether some like it or not.

6.) 01 Jan 2019 14:55:33
I take your point Red Man but, but let's say you were hired as a salesman and your managing director decided to deploy you as the accountant instead: you might be expected to fail however much effort you put in. Moreover it might be hard for you to maintain much enthusiasm for your work having first been set up for failure and then subsequently criticized in public for failing. Research suggests that someone unhappy in their work will not suddenly become happy in it just because they get a raise.

From the CEO down, through the manager and onto the field, the post-SAF period seems to have been a continuing sequence of trying to slot the wrong people into the wrong positions.

7.) 01 Jan 2019 15:44:44
Shawthing

It isn’t about being happy but about putting effort in. We can all see that Mourinho’s tactics were too defensive but if the players gave everything and failed then it would be solely down to the managers tactics. If you were hired as a salesman and deployed as an accountant because the MD has seen something in you but you decide, it won’t work, you can’t be bothered because you don’t agree with the MD, what does that say about you?

You mention happy unhappy and pay, the research is very old from Maslow and Herzberg, pay is not a motivating factor.

I said on here before SAF retired the club needed a good plan but they didn’t seem to have one at all. It is from the owners down, the direction needs be one but it hasn’t been, it needs to be now. Football people who know football need to make the football decisions, I hope that is what is now being planned.

8.) 01 Jan 2019 15:45:19
Sanchez hitting form is important for us in achieving top 4. A front 3 of martial, Rash and Sanchez would scare the opponents.
He also like Rashford, presses from the front and works his socks off.

31 Dec 2018 14:37:36
liking OGS comments about Lukaku - saying as a target man he plays with his back to the goal a lot and that's not effective . he needs to be facing the goal more, and needs to work on his fitness. or words to that effect. Obviously OGS has an affinity with strikers and we will see the benefit of that . Hope he is working hard with Sanchez and Lukaku and that they take it on board

On a side note we are linked again with Cahill, alderweld, Manolas and some other 21year old for CH . possibly all paper talk but for me throw the money at Koubilaly or Varane . no more "players with potential or stop gaps " for such an important position.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 31 Dec 2018 14:58:37
Is Lukaku ever going to be technically good enough for utd? With Pogba, Martial, Rashford even Lingard we have players who can play the one touch game, lukaku's touch is as basically a tackle.

2.) 31 Dec 2018 16:07:17
If used right then yes. His goal yesterday was an example.

20 Dec 2018 07:08:43
The one thing I hope comes out of OGS time at OT is that he sits Ed woodward down and just let's Ed Woodward have it with both barrels either on his first day or his last day - he has nothing to lose ;

'Look Ed, anyone in football can see that you will never even be a top 4 team again with Valencia, Jones, Rojo, darmian and Young here.

You will struggle with Bailly, Lindelof and smalling as the choices in defence . no leader or Pl experience

Matic, mctomminay, perrreria. lingard. not a top 4 midfield in there either ED . sorry mate .

Lukaku. not mobile enough or with a good enough first touch for the modern, fast incisive football other top teams play

Leaves you with about 7 good, or potentially good players mate, that is the reality of what you have here - so tell the Glazers top 4 (and the cash cow benefits) is even out of their reach unless drastic action is taken here because your squad is a mess son.

boyfromburrenway

1.) 20 Dec 2018 09:16:04
I think Jose had been telling him this for months anyway.

2.) 20 Dec 2018 09:38:06
I think Lingard is very underrated by most United fans. Sure he's not world class but I think he brings some excellent traits to a side. He works hard both on and more importantly off the ball. He creates space for others, he is good on the ball and has a great nack for scoring important goals in key games.

For me he is similar to Park Ji Sung. But he is British and from Manchester and has come through our academy so can be an example to our other youngsters. He also took longer to breakthrough so he shows the virtue of having patience.

For me he is one of the first names on the team sheet for a tough game.

21 Oct 2018 16:32:15
The last 2-3 games I've watched on TV the cameras always linger on Patrice Evra sitting chatting with Ed Woodward next to him. Never noticed those 2 being so friendly up until recently- any theories why they are so matey now?

boyfromburrenway

1.) 21 Oct 2018 16:50:49
Woodward always had feelings for Pat but felt he could never reveal them whilst Pat was a player. Now he has left Woody is free to declare his love and I for one am hopeful they will be happy together and live happily ever after.

2.) 21 Oct 2018 17:00:36
Evra and Zidane dream team innit.

3.) 21 Oct 2018 17:35:05
Talking about hair transplants and martial arts 😆😆.

03 Oct 2018 18:13:42
If its true that the players aren't playing for Jose I could understand it as he has obviously fallen out with so many- not that I condone it of course.

But where does that leave Carrick and McKenna who are by all accounts popular with the players, they work day to day with them wouldn't the players think they owe Carrick and McKenna good perfomances as Jose would be gone at end of season anyway probably?

Koulibaly would be fantastic. But Mike SMalling is 6ft 5, doesn't win a lot in the air - Smalling has no upper body strength either - being tackled by him must be like being hit over the head with a cotton bud by a dwarf with brittle bone disease.

{Ed0333's Note - Smalling makes tackles?

Isnt the whole OLE rumour based on the fact the Norweigan league shut down 3 weeks ago until March, the tabloids are jumping on the fact he is sitting at home watching countdown for 3 months so why not? (ignoring the fact he still has work to do with Molde in the off season)

lets face it, IF the Glazers ever sold up and that's a big if who has got 3 or 4 billion to spend on an investment/ hobby/ rich mans toy? its only ever going to be one of the oil rich countries, or a Russian shady character or a Chinese faceless conglomerate . hardly a great choice is it?

yes that was the report yesterday afternoon in a few tabloids .2 squad players from Barcelona plus not enough money to buy Toby/ Boateng (thank god) for Paul Pogba . whose agent said when we signed hm was a 150 mill player.

Dembele got to be in the mix if that's the next club for PP.

I think nearly all the PL teams have had a sub standard performance in them over the last 12 days - tiredness does set in mentally as well as physically.

Love how Ole gets out of the dug out at the final whistle and stops and shakes all the subs hands as they walk past him , pat on the back here and there to those who didn't get on - then on to the pitch more hand shaking, a laugh and joke with Lukaku, a word and a smile with Pogba- a little word with Shaw -just good management .

Called it how it was in the post match interviews too, not a great performance, slow passing, to many touches first half but no sulking no digging the players out .

Hope he gives 2-3 kids a chance along with squad players and rests the seniors this weekend.

Too early to judge. A defender should be able to defend, that's his job if he doesn't the defencive line is obviously weaker than it should be. In the modern game -and Ole mentioned this a few days ago- the full backs have to push on and fly up that line. So its not an easy position to play but he should be first and foremost a defender.

Denis Irwin could do it, so could Evra . Kyle Walker not so much.

Too many people missing the point that OGS is temorary because carrick has no licene to coach for more than a 12 week period. We are aslo looking at a DOF to come in. How could Blanc or ZZ come in at such short notice and how would that be good?

The names been thrown about. ZZ, Blanc, Poch are bound to be approached or interviewed (where applicable) in the coming weeks and months in a measured and professional manner we would hope .

Also I read yesterday another journo saying input from Carrick and McKenna has been generally ignored by JM (who knows if that's true) so let's see if Ogs/ Phelan/ Carrick/ mckenna and Butt to an extent can get us on an even keel again. Playing football.
