Eds I've heard some murmurings about us getting benzema on loan, is there anything in it? I think he'd be a good signing on a loan but surely toon would have 1st refusal given the ownership.

dannyc

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it.}

1.) 09 Jan 2024 22:05:41
Thanks anyway Ed.

Hearing that sheik jassim has had a bid accepted. I hope its true, after what the glazers have served up we deserve this. Proper owner, willing to put money into facilities, into Manchester and the team.

Not mentioned anywhere that I can see.

2.) 09 Jun 2023 21:22:48
Not mentioned anywhere that I can see. Where is this information?

3.) 09 Jun 2023 21:25:12
Perhaps someone dreamt of it.

4.) 09 Jun 2023 21:35:00
It would be nice to take away some of the news stories and spotlight from the CL final tomorrow :-), but it won’t happen unfortunately.

5.) 09 Jun 2023 23:21:39
Think these rumours are coming from fake Romano twitter accounts.

6.) 10 Jun 2023 05:37:19
Don't be believing anything on that blue bird site.

Hearing we've sign weghorst on loan. Disappointing if true.

dannyc

1.) 07 Jan 2023 18:50:05
Was poor at Burnley, but off the top of my head I think his goals record isn’t too bad? Especially in Germany, I remember hearing about him.

2.) 07 Jan 2023 19:17:56
His goalscoring record is really good and he’s the profile of player we just don’t have. In Erik we trust.

He was crap at Burnley though.

3.) 07 Jan 2023 19:22:29
I know it was only 1 game but I remember him being a real handful against us last season, maybe with better players around him he can be effective for 6 months then in the summer we can hopefully sign one of our top targets.

4.) 07 Jan 2023 20:05:47
Changed the game for Holland against Argentina in the wc. That’s bout all I remember. If eth wants him then that’s fine by me. It’s only a loan after all.

5.) 07 Jan 2023 20:12:05
Certainly a different kind of player to those we have, and he's actually a number 9 rather than a winger or 10 who plays there sometimes.

I trust Ten Hag, so I'm fine with it as it's clearly not the long-term solution and he will add some much needed physicality. Another bonus is that we now look a threat at set pieces and Weghorst is about 11ft tall.

6.) 07 Jan 2023 20:22:23
Aboubakar makes me think of United signing Ighalo.

Weghorst makes me think about Ajax signing Haller.

Dont mind it along as the Glazers are gone before the plans for the summer are made.

The greater good.

7.) 07 Jan 2023 20:31:23
Changed the game against Argentina in the world cup if I remember correctly. If Netherlands had of continued with the same plan of pumping it up to him then maybe a different outcome.

Mirror the message above. In Erik we trust!

8.) 07 Jan 2023 22:11:59
We have all praised the EtH signings in the summer and want to get away from the Ed Woodward big splash signings. This has all the feel of an EtH player that fits a position of need without hindering the future plans.
If it is who he wants I am happy. makes more sense than Felix.

9.) 08 Jan 2023 10:41:34
I think the impression that he was poor at Burnley is a little unfair.

He joined them in the January of 2022 when they were in a mess fighting relegation.

He was feeding off of absolute scraps for 6 months. This point is proven by the statistic that no side in EPL history created less goal scoring chances than Burnley last season. Messi himself would have struggled to score more than 5 goals in that side in half a season.

At every other club his goal scoring record is roughly one goal every two games. Which is solid, especially as he has never played in a side that was dominating the league and creating loads of chances.

He's obviously not the perfect player for us, and there will be doubts over whether ultimately he is good enough for where we want to be. But on a 6 month loan deal where the other options are either definitely not good enough, not the right profile of player, or hugely expensive then he might be a good solution.

10.) 08 Jan 2023 11:06:33
He’s basically the plan B. Last 10 minutes go long ball if they need a goal.

11.) 08 Jan 2023 15:59:37
He’s a cart horse. End of conversation.

I've heard a rumour of garner to palace on loan, have any of the eds heard anything?

dannyc

1.) 05 Aug 2022 21:01:13
Would make sense, they will be looking for a Gallagher replacement.

2.) 06 Aug 2022 15:12:00
Personally would like him to stay and see what part he can play in the midfield rotation. The high energy press from EtH will need more than just the first 11 to be successful. That being said if he does go out I have no problem with his next stage of development under Viera at Palace.

3.) 06 Aug 2022 23:36:17
Brad, I really like the look of Garner. That said he should only stay of he's going to play.

At this point in his career he cannot afford to be 4th or 5th choice playing 800 minutes a season.

To continue his development and have a chance of reaching his potential he needs to be playing 2000-3000 minutes of football.

If EtH wants to play him and thinks he can play at the club to the standard needed then great.

However, if Fred, McTominay, Eriksen, Donny and a potential new signing will all feature ahead of him then send the lad out on loan.

04 Mar 2022 20:14:10
Looks like wijnaldum might be leaving psg as he's not happy with playing time, do any of the ends know if we could look to sign him? I think he could be a really good signing for us.

dannyc

{Ed002's Note - He won't be moving to MU.}

1.) 04 Mar 2022 22:57:03
Thanks Ed, shame he is a decent player.

2.) 04 Mar 2022 23:30:56
Hearts seem set on a certain London footballer of the year.

3.) 05 Mar 2022 15:25:43
Wijnaldum was great at Newcastle/ Liverpool and also for Holland at the Euros but has stagnated since. He wanted his payday and ended up being a small fish in a bigger pond.
Liverpool have a knack of selling their big players and coming back even stronger. Wise investment. I hope we can do something similar when we lose a few of our own egos this summer.

Good performance tonight. That will shut the press up for a day or 2 . Funny how were sitting 3 points behind city and we've had a bad season and nobody mentions them.

Mctominay was brilliant getting forward tonight, both winger were decent especially garnacho he was the stand out player for me, just kept driving at them. And maguire apart from his one mistake on the ball was dominant. I'll go to bed happy tonight.

dannyc

1.) 06 Dec 2023 23:25:24
If he’s lost 50% of them it must be the other 11 because every one of them out there ran through a brick wall for him tonight.

2.) 06 Dec 2023 23:34:00
Great win. City don’t sell papers much to the annoyance of their fans. Hence their obsession with IUtd.

3.) 07 Dec 2023 01:16:43
What fans? ?.

4.) 07 Dec 2023 02:36:25
Great to see the players step up tonight. Needs to stick with the same front line. Maybe shaw and reguilon should start at the weekend, we looked much more balanced.

5.) 07 Dec 2023 04:10:32
Have to say it was a great result. Not a classic game by any means but as mentioned above everybody put a shift in for 90 minutes against admittedly a poor side. But it was all about the performance and regardless of the win was exactly what was needed.

Now please can we kick on and do this every week. Results will come and go but the performance was 100%

Please for Amrabat. Had a solid game

Happy chap today!

6.) 07 Dec 2023 06:50:44
A great response from the players. It’s not unrealistic to say we could’ve scored 6 last night. Very well played and hats off to the manager and those players that put a shift in.

Doing it in away games is the next challenge, and they don’t come bigger than our next one.

7.) 07 Dec 2023 07:03:02
Played as a team last night until Rashford came on. Right decision to drop both Rashford and Martial plus Varane was not involved, interesting. When he came on Rashford didn’t break a sweat. Pressing well first half, dropped off a little second but very good win.

Next game needs to see the same, no bringing Rashford back in.

Yes, Garnacho makes mistakes, yes he can give the ball away but we have a real player with that lad. Also watch the film of him giving his boots that he scored the overhead kick with, to a young lad near Carrington. He played very well.

Onwards, and when we need a forward to run the line push McT forward and have Mainoo in the middle, leave Rash and le sulk on the bench.

8.) 07 Dec 2023 08:28:47
What I saw last night was the minimum I expected from a United side, they fought they put effort in and had a go. Was the selection telling in terms of who was in and who was out and the effort that came with it? I dunno bit I do know that I am happier watching a team try than watching a team who don't even if the former has players who are supposedly less talented.

9.) 07 Dec 2023 09:38:38
It’s nothing to do with City, every season Man Utd don’t win or come close then it is a disaster and rightly so. We are used to winning and that should be the bench mark, just because City being hypernormalised as winners now, we should not forget every thing Utd do without winning is turmoil.

10.) 07 Dec 2023 17:46:12
Who knows if true Redman, but varane has a back injury by some reports.

I do think rashford ran more than usual. I thought in his head he probably feels like he is chasing everything. But what I see is a guy running around unintelligently. He just runs, rather than trying to set pressing traps by cutting down angles and slowly boxing play into a corner and then running with high intensity to try and win the ball.

Unless garnacho is injured he should not be starting at the weekend.

Looks like we're stuck with the glazers and will be for a very long time. What sane person would spend upwards of 7 billion to buy us? 6 billion upfront and then another billion clearing the debt the people you have just paid 6 billion to created.

Even if someone does agree I'm sure they will try and squeeze a bit more out.

dannyc

1.) 14 Oct 2023 20:28:08
The problem is that the Glazers wanted 7bn+, Al Thani then eventually offered 6bn, but promised to spend a further 1.5bn on clearing debt and investment. All that did was tell the Glazers that he had an extra 1.5bn to spend. They tried to shake him down for it. He's offered nearly double the current market value for the club. They still won't sell. Time to walk away.

2.) 14 Oct 2023 22:16:04
It's a joke, can't blame him for walking away. Jim getting a quarter of the club is not a good move by him either. nothing will change and he will be the next target.

01 Sep 2023 17:57:18
One thing I have liked this summer is that we have moved on a lot of younger players who won't make the 1st team, yeah maybe it has been for low fees, but mostly we retain buy backs or sell on fees which will serve us well financially moving forward.

Hearing benzema doesn't fit into nunos plans in Saudi, would you guys take him? Yes from me even if its on a 1 year deal. Proper goalscorer to take to pressure off hojlund and he could learn a lot from him.

dannyc

1.) 24 Aug 2023 20:03:39
I don't think Nuno is going to win that fight. He'll be on a plane back to Europe shortly an even richer man.

2.) 24 Aug 2023 20:45:13
Gotta agree with Mumbles on this one. There’s no way the Saudis will side with Nuno on this one.

I had the pleasure of meeting the guy on multiple occasions back when he was at Wolves and I was working as a journalist. He can be a super nice guy, but he’s also not afraid to speak his mind and doesn’t seem like the sort to back down, neither of which will go down too well with his new employers.

If we have a buy back or sell on fee it's a good move for all parties. Have to day he does look like a good player, I always try and watch games for our young loan players and last year he looked good at Preston, granada seems like a wrong loan as he hasn't played much in a struggling team.

I don't understand the negativity towards it. I actually liked the original super league plan except the closed shop concept. Would you rather watch real madrid vs bayern or antwerp vs braga? Uefa are corrupt and have made a closed market and they have pretty much taken their idea for the new format.

Nothing will change imo, glazers and sjr will fall out by the summer, old trafford will still be falling apart and we will keep falling further back from the top teams. You can roll a turd in glitter but it's still a turd and that's our situation.

It was a coming together, no malice whatsoever. He just fell on his knee. Massive loss if he is out for a while, we've only just got him back after a long layoff. We look a lot more solid with him in the team.

Glad to see our three youngest players have decent games. These players are the ones we need to build around in the summer.
