Coentrao and Fellaini but no other midfielder is disappointing for us. Why didn't we go for Ozil? I'm sure Ozil would have preferred us to Arsenal

How about De Gea in a straight swap for Verane?

Only if he wants to go otherwise no one swaps a keeper that will be top 2 in the world for the next 10 or years for a defender that is very good but not at that level. Marquinos is better and so is Sergio Ramos and Laporte is up there and so is the Atheltico Madrid guy who's name escapes me.

Jose Maria Gimenez

Has anyone heard any rumours regarding some of the squad being sold other than Rooney or Nani?

I was hoping that someone would offer us several million for Young and even Cleverley- Assuming we brought replacements in.

On another matter, I didn't see Rio's testimonial last night but it seems Anderson split the jury and some said he was still a little overweight. I'm really hoping he plays tomorrow and the team build some confidence albeit against a Wigan side we should beat. It would be nice to score a few goals and see DM's influence on things.

If Anderson is going to be given his chance this year, I'm really hoping he gets off to a positive start with a couple of goals like we all witnessed on YouTube when we bought him. The same hope goes for Kagawa who needs a positive game tomorrow

I'd like Phil Jones to play in with Vidic and have the youngsters come on for the second half and get at least half a game

1.) Your seriously underestimating wigan they've been doing really well under Coyle, tomorrow is going to be a test like we would get from prem oposition and with us still finding our feet expect a hard fought game.

Ok, so Fabregas has decided to stay for another year. I'm still of the opinion that his agent tipped us the wink prior to the new manager coming in and courted us first. I'm pleased that Moyes has highlighted and acknowledged the midfield shortcomings and gone for the stellar signing but the shift in Management at Barca has obviously made him re-assess his position.

I actually think the press release after Fabregas's announcement was very classy by United.

In the end we moan about not getting the best players in but at least we've expressed an interest. I don't believe for a minute that Cesc or his agent did not speak to any United representatives and given the status quo he would have engineered a move. If we aim to bring one 'Worldy'' in each year but fail, then integrate some of the younger players along with them, then I'd like to think that fans would settle for this.

Whilst we all appreciate bring world class talent in, we should all recognise that the new regime has got a great squad of talent at their disposal. I really hope Anderson, Jones, Januzaj get their fair share of games

I think Rooney should be sold and give Kagawa the freedom he needs to fulfill his potential to supply the front line. obviously it's who we get as a replacement that's the key but wondered whether Moyes has some rabbit to pull out of the hat with his interest in the German league

I think there'll be a couple of signings in the near future. but nonetheless, if there aren't any signings I won't be giving up just yet.

1.) Very good post, glad I popped back on, think I have a love/hate relationship with this site at the minute. I agree with what you are saying though with regard to Rooney/Kagawa and the not giving up yet :-)

2.) Totally!

What would you guys think if Moyes failed to sign any more players, promoted some of the younger players into the first team and then won the league in his first season?

Is the idea of signing stellar signings needed to justify us as the biggest club in the Premier League?

I'd love a big name signing like Bale or Ronaldo. Fabregas's would be good, however seeing the next bright things integrated and stepping upto the plate would be even better in my opinion.

Good post Shan and interesting viewpoint which I half agree with. I was going to respond and then I read Shappys reply and decided I didn't need to reply to yours myself as everything I was going to state was delivered in his!

Many posters complained last year that we lacked pace and attacking penetration.

I believe that di Maria is exactly the kind of player we need to add power and pace to our attacking options and alongside Mata and Rooney will prove to be a pretty formidable attacking and counter attacking side

Blind and Rojo would be great additions to a squad which assuming we get Vidal and or Strootman too, will give us every chance of a Champions League spot back and even challenge for the title

Coentrao, Fellaini are joining and likely one other as yet unknown before the window. Ozil or Modric is a maybe but then Moyes and his liking for German football maybe looking at emerging talent from the Bundesliga

Born in York and my dads brother wanted me to be a Leeds fan. Thankfully my old man was born in sight of old Trafford and there was no chance I was going to be anything but a United Fan.
Now live in Redditch just south of Birmingham.
Over in the states on hols at the moment and they have Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe as the pundits!! Even worse than Andy Townsend.

I'm hoping that Chelsea have panicked over their average start to the season and gazumped united on the Pedro deal by offering better personal terms.
Don't get me wrong, I would have liked to have added Pedro to the squad however this would have hindered the development of Januzaj and Depay to some degree and I I'm quite ambivalent to the whole deal.
Obviously the loss of more pace in attacking areas is a blow, but let's hope we double our efforts in bringing in a top centre forward and another centre back.
I would love Muller or Lewandowski. if we could bring in someone in the mould of van Nistelrooy then I think that could be the difference between 3rd/4th and challenging for the title.

I think we'll win the title this year. Ed to bring in one marquee signing and two further signings. With the additional sponsorship money, there is no way we will start the season without further additions.
The pressure on Ed and LVG will be massive.
Can see Bale, Pedro and an experienced centre back come in before the end of the transfer window. LVG has mentioned we need more pace and creativity and Bale and Pedro fit the bill well enough
Hopefully De Gea stays and personally I'd be happy with someone like Vertonghen in.
I'm optimistic about the signings made and to come and think the one bad result against PSG isn't a reason for people to become disillusioned so quickly
We'll stuff Spurs 3-1

Robson without question. Keane was a great player but had some great peers around him. Robson would have walked into any other side in his prime he was that good.
