A few suggestions that we are looking at Joao Moutinho and Jan Oblak.
Any truth in these?
Starting to feel we are missing out on a lot "targets" and it might be a disappointing summer!

Oblak is the new target from today.AAs for Moutinho, it really doesn't make sense, we have plenty of people there - Mata, Di Maria, Januzaj, Rooney, Scholes :)

Maybe only LVG and WoodwoRK know which are our targets. Remember last summer manutd.com were counting the players that were linked to United in the media. I don't remember the exact number, but I'm pretty sure it was over 100 players.

Worrying to be linked with the likes of manduzukic. Decent player but not of the quality we need to be looking at in my opinion. I hope we sign younger players preferably with pace.

Oblak= no chance he is back up to handanovic in national squad so for starters would prefer handanovic (not preferred just pointing it out)
Moutinho = again no chance although a lot of people comparing him to mata, di Maria, adnan which I feel is wrong although plays further forward for Monaco due to them having kondogbia and tulelon (I know spelling
Awe full) but is probably most like a sneiderlein type
Mandzukic = sincerely hope not although was a great player at bayern in my opinion has a terrible attitude that will only blow up in our faces eventually.

The fact Jan Oblak is second choice is irrelevant? The guys 22 for god sake! I can see him coming in and excelling! Especially with our goalkeeping coach who worked wonders with De Gea!

Any substance in the rumour of Vidic returning?
1.) God I hope not he's having a otrrid time in Italy he was poor before he left us. I didn't like how he had pictures done signing for Inter whilst still captain, to me it showed disrespect and now he's doing shyte he wants to come back

2.) Apparently his agent has poo pooed this. Vidic was awesome in his time with us but towards the end he did become a bit of a liability with commiting fouls a lot more and giving away cheap penalties

Toni Kroos to Real Madrid, due to be announced shortly (200k/week).
Angel di Maria has decided to join PSG, thinks PSG is a stronger squad and can get CL games, also Arab money is speaking louder.

3.) No worries, never saw kroos at united, not sure Di Maria would cope with premier league. We need a fighter in the middle and a commanding cb. Long as they are pushing vidal i'm fine with that
4.) We've all been here before top quality star names linked with Utd always on the threshold of joining and yet none of them ever did. Robben, Ronaldinho, Ozil, Moura, Kroos, Fabregas, Thiago and that's when the club was fighting for things. Do you honestly think they have managed to pull off transfers with no champs league football when they couldn't as European champions. wake up

You're saying it as if its the end of the world, surely a CB and a CM are our priorities and only then can we look at a goalscoring winger, there are better options than Di Maria and these could also come cheaper, but I suppose I am contradicting myself as I would love to sign him, just saying its not as if we he is a necessity for the price being quoted.
6.) I'm confused, how can PSG afford di Maria after the FFP penalty and having spent €50 million on Luiz, surely they would have to offload a lot of players as di MARIA would bring their spending close to €100 million.
7.) Stoatie - I think the other French teams clubbed together to buy Luis for PSG.
8.) Whereas kroos is a fantastic passer of the ball I am not sure that he would ever have the amount of time and space in the premiership that he currently gets for club and country.
We need an aggressive ball winning midfielder and Vidal fits the bill perfectly. if we were to make only 1 more signing this window let it be him.
9.) I get it Thorne, like the Spanish taxpayer and Real Madrid.

I think he's a accident waiting to happen. didn't start either game vs Barce in the CL. Is it because he was not as good as what they had? (if so the cb that did play got taken apart) or was because he wasnt fit. Either way i don't think he's what we need unless its for peanuts as a backup.

Maybe we have , maybe we haven't but remember many players and agents are trying to get players new contracts, improve the contracts they are on , seal higher transfer fees, especially at this time of year. Remember the false intermediaries arriving at the Spanish HQ to "buy out" Herrera's contract, there are also likely lots out there claiming to be able to connect a player to United.
Just ask yourself whether it would be easier to negotiate if Manchester United are interested or are after or are rumoured to be in for the player? We will see plenty of rumours in the coming weeks very few of which will be true. Dante is 32 in October so doesn't seem realistic to me but I would bet a few of the players we are "in for" sign improved contracts this summer

The rumour mill suggests that we are looking at Clyne, Hummels and Depay to come in.
Do the Ed's feel this is still the case with Young and Valencia doing well towards the end of the season?
I feel the 3 would be great additions to the squad but would also like to see the two Brazilians, Nathan and Kenedy, added also, great potential in them.
{Ed004's Note - Firstly the youngster Nathan is signing for Chelsea I think and never heard of Kennedy. Think there is a good chance the three players you mention have been looked at by the club and I expect a right back, centre back and winger to probably be signed this summer as well as a centre mid}

Media speculation regards Coleman and Rafael's injury/temperament issues would suggest we are in search of a new right WB.

Lots of papers reporting that Juve will release Vidal for cash plus a player (in some papers 2 players). One is Hernandez and the other is Nani.
Would be more then happy to see Nani gone but feel the little pea has a future, especially with 2 strikers being used more in the new formation.
1.) Chico should leave for his own good. His lack of game time has had an impact on his performance both on a domestic and international level. He needs a team that can offer him regular first team football. I'm not convinced that that's Juventus; but he's wasted at United and so I wouldn't be too sad to see him go (unless it was to a domestic rival).
2.) Could deadwoodwood pull of his greatest deal yet and persuade them to take Anderson and Cleverly on a buy one get one free offer?

Ed, thanks for the great write up. Just a quick question as you mention Barcelona a few times. How much effect will the Catalan independence vote have on the players moving to and from Barcelona FC in the next year. Will it put a few of them off possibly missing CL football should they be excluded from La Liga? Appreciate your not a politician (at least i don't think you are) and a few things need to occur in order for this to occur but it must be playing on their minds.
{Ed002's Note - It will make no difference at all. Barcelona will eventually leave La Liga to get involved with a pan-European league. Their B team will remain in La Liga.}

Why would any player in a team that is currently still in the CL want to move in the Jan window? They will wait till the summer.
