Ed002

Reports in the papers saying that Real Madrid are interested in Garnacho, any truth to these?

Thanks.

ne99il

{Ed002's Note - Alejandro Garnacho (LW) Agent is looking to move on Garnacho and Patino after demanding game time from both Manchester United and Arsenal. Garnacho has been offered to Real Madrid knowing that Vinicius Junior may move on, but I am not convinced he would be a regular there. Juventus have also been offered to player as they too seek a LW replacement but I can't see they would bite.

1.) 20 Mar 2024 13:26:30
How can the agent demand more game time? He's pretty much a regular nowadays.

2.) 20 Mar 2024 14:20:36
Guessing agent can see big commission if he can engineer a move.

3.) 20 Mar 2024 14:57:01
Thanks Ed.

4.) 20 Mar 2024 17:34:42
The agent won’t get much off Patino he’s shocking
Absolutely useless at Blackpool on loan
Another one massively hyped by the media.

5.) 20 Mar 2024 20:49:55
Garnacho's contract runs to 2028 I believe so I very much doubt the club would agree to a sale this summer given all the other comings and goings needed.

6.) 21 Mar 2024 07:32:01
Very surprised if Garnacho isn’t happy with his game time, he’s one of the first names on the team sheet at man united at 19 years old, what more could he want?

7.) 21 Mar 2024 09:29:24
Agents doing what agents do. let's not kid ourselves that Real Madrid is not the dream of a lot of players especially from South America. That being said, with him being under contract, being one of the first on the team sheet and the progress we hope to see I can't see this happening. especially with Real bringing in Mbappe this summer.

8.) 21 Mar 2024 09:56:57
Think it’s more what the agent wants than Garnacho.

9.) 21 Mar 2024 12:58:33
What more could he want?

Better climate, nicer city, better team, better coaches, trophies?

10.) 21 Mar 2024 13:03:06
Think you are right Wallace, although it's well known Nacho is pretty obsessed with Ronaldo, indeed, has been said the reason he came to us was to follow in his footsteps.
Think he will probably leave in 4-5 years time, suspect it will be Real, but hopefully we get plenty from him in the meantime.

11.) 21 Mar 2024 13:04:02
Hasn't he played like the last 26 in a row? ? got to love agent's ?.

12.) 21 Mar 2024 18:07:35
Slow news week. Media pushing Uniteds fans buttons again and sitting back and laughing at the social media meltdowns.
He won't be here forever but he will be here for a few years yet I'd imagine.

13.) 22 Mar 2024 10:18:03
Sounds like a typical Football Manager reaction that - plays 26 games in a row, agent demands more game time! ?.

{Ed001's Note - or it could have been that came from before the regular game time?}

14.) 22 Mar 2024 20:02:50
So ed, it's from before him getting 26 games in a row? An outdated update ?.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, I was making a suggestion. It could simply be that the agent is making a warning not to drop him now. Or it could have been a few weeks back, when he was still in and out of the side.}

12 Mar 2024 16:58:06
Hi Ed002

Do you know if Dortmund are looking to make Sancho's loan move permanent this summer?

Thanks.

ne99il

{Ed002's Note - Not at the asking price.}

1.) 12 Mar 2024 21:57:20
He might need to go out on loan again, or the club might have to take a big hit when selling him.

He's on massive wages, been poor for three years now and has displayed an appalling attitude.

He's now gone back to Dortmund and not pulled up any trees. Why would anyone be mad enough to pay a large fee and big wages to take a chance on him?

2.) 12 Mar 2024 21:44:01
Is there a possibility he returns to MU if there is a new manager?

{Ed002's Note - He needs a new start. He wants out.}

3.) 13 Mar 2024 12:16:38
Are we looking at any Dortmund player that we could maybe do some horse trading?

{Ed002's Note - They have already offered up Donyell Malen to MU (and others).}

4.) 13 Mar 2024 12:45:15
Thanks for the replies.

5.) 13 Mar 2024 15:08:17
Really not good enough for where Utd need to be. Take the hit, move him on, let him get on with his life.

6.) 13 Mar 2024 16:57:43
Thankfully ed, what a terrible terrible buy that was.

7.) 13 Mar 2024 17:44:22
Angel, there was a really interesting bit in the Ole video where he says that everyone was onboard with the Sancho signing, but then talks about how Sancho doesn’t have a lot of pace and plays best with intricate linkup play in the final third.

It’s weird because the whole United team was geared around fast breaks at this time. There weren’t really any players in the squad that excelled at this type of game. So why did they all want to sign a player that didn’t fit with the squad or the tactical approach?

8.) 13 Mar 2024 18:01:07
The warning signs were there.
It's in red print all over the archives. So if the eds knew about his attitude, time keeping and discipline issues and pep knew and Southgate knew how on earth all the red flags were ignored is beyond me.
On top of that he as you say Danny had very few of the attributes the team style required.
But with gormless ole not knowing what he wanted and why what chance did we have.
It's been a poor signing not the 1st or last.
Nowadays mistakes of this magnitude are felt for years unfortunately due to the finances.
His book value will be hard to achieve on a sale and on top of that cash impact will be a tough one to take.
I hope the new team will minimise these bad signings going forward and also maximise what they can from some of hannibal vdb sancho mctom maguire Shaw casimero bruno awb rashford lindelof ericksen Antony pellistri amad etc.
Varane Evans Heaton and martial are all out for free and while that's good on the wages front there will be no sale income.
Very interesting summer ahead.

9.) 13 Mar 2024 18:56:41
We've been making the same mistake year after year, even when SAF was in charge. Remember how we had to have Owen Hargreaves? He hardly ever played. Weren't we after Sancho the year before he joined? But instead of being thankful for missing out, the club just went ahead and compounded the misjudgment. The Bundesliga is a different place, and Dortmund's style is not ours. The highly rated Kagawa was also one who did not thrive in the EPL. We've had at least a decade of buying players because they're available at a very high price and without any long term plan as to how to use them.

10.) 14 Mar 2024 11:07:11
ED002,

Do you think Utd would be open to a player swap deal with Dortmund for Sancho?

{Ed002's Note - It may depend on the coach.}

11.) 14 Mar 2024 12:13:53
The fear for me is that we will over price Sancho for Dortmund to be able to take him permamently especially with his wages. I am not sure he will be interested in a move to Saudi and I am not sure there is huge interest in him elsewhere (This may change over the end of the season) .

We will be left with a player we want to sell, no buyers at the price we want and have to loan him back to Dortmund. Will not help with getting money in for the summer window.

Not sure who at Dortmund we would be interested in if a swap deal is considered.

10 Jan 2024 09:43:03
Hi Ed002,

Is there any interest in Antony?

Thanks.

ne99il

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

1.) 10 Jan 2024 11:01:12
Thanks for the reply.

2.) 10 Jan 2024 14:30:07
Nobody’s that stupid.

3.) 10 Jan 2024 16:52:54
Fireman, not even chelsea? :P.

4.) 10 Jan 2024 21:07:23
He is a person of interest in Brazil.

5.) 11 Jan 2024 19:00:36

Brilliant lmaof.

22 Nov 2023 11:01:39
Ed002,

When the SJR deal is signed off and new people come in as expected for CEO and DOF, does that mean any planned January transfers will be scrapped?

Thanks.

ne99il

{Ed002's Note - It would be a matter of timing but there will likely be changes to plans.}

1.) 22 Nov 2023 11:20:16
Will it be the same positions looked at?

Thanks for the reply.

{Ed002's Note - I would not have too high expectations for January. Much will depend on sales - Sancho and if possible van der Beek. The summer will be a more likely start of an overhaul.}

2.) 22 Nov 2023 12:09:36
Thanks Ed.

3.) 23 Nov 2023 07:55:10
i would be happy to see a serious cleaning up of the squad with a lot of exits. we could use 3 or 4 going in jan as the manager has said many times he does not like big squads. some the players are toxic by just hanging around.

4.) 23 Nov 2023 09:31:06
Huge number of players need to move on as either past their best, don’t fit modern high-energy system or just not good enough.

Can imagine it being a very busy Summer.

Please Ed002, if you have time, would you be good enough to provide info on any interest in following players: Youssef Fofana from Monaco and Kephram Thuram from Nice?

I appreciate that United’s targets will change with the new regime but, given Paul Mitchell’s links to Monaco and the obvious connection with Nice, is there any mileage in assuming United might be interested in these players please?

Thanks for any info you feel you can reveal.

{Ed002's Note - Youssouf Fofana (CM/DM) An apprach from Crystal Palace was rejected by Monaco who told them they will be negotiating a new contract. Interest of Lyon has gone. Chelsea have strong ties with Monaco and the clubs have discussed him but he is not first choice for Chelsea. Nottingham Forest interest was turned away with a bid being rejected. West Ham have now replaced Rice so their interest has likely gone unless they lose Soucek or plan to use him exclusively as a CM player. Manchester United may see him as an option but he would not be a casemiro replacement and they have made no approach. However, Juventus have declared an interest and the wages would not be an issue with local tax laws being favourable. I am not aware of Liverpool interest. Wages might be an issue for some clubs.

Khephren Thuram (DM/CM) Nice felt they were messed around by clubs in the summer and then the player picked up an injury. Interest of Spurs, Liverpool and, in particular, Juventus remains but Liverpool will focus on a preferred option. Interest of Newcastle will likely fall away. If interest further grows his price will rise and the club would sell given the emergence of Alexis Beka Beka and an impressive youngster in Reda Belahyane. Nice do not want to sell and again a move to OLd Trafford will not be welcomed by the Nice supporters. Real Madrid have him on a list of potential additions given they are facing midfield departures in the summer - and I would not rule them, or indeed Manchester City, out. Player wants PSG but they have no interest at this time - but his representative is pushing PSG as well as Real Madrid and will encourage the player to wait out the year and see what happens.}

5.) 23 Nov 2023 11:13:41
Wow, thank you so much for the detailed info Ed002!

VERY much appreciated. Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

16 Feb 2023 14:17:29
Hi Ed002

is FDJ still a target for Man U this summer?

Thanks.

ne99il

{Ed002's Note - Frenkie de Jong (CM) Barcelona ddin't really want to sell last summer although if a significant offer (perhaps €80M) were made, their financial situation would mean they would have had to consider it and the hierarchy accept that removing his very significant wages from the books would free up space to register other players. Player wanted to stay and had no interest in moving to Manchester United. Again, this summer Barcelona will be open to an offer and ten Hag would certainly be open to taking the player. Huge wages.}

1.) 16 Feb 2023 15:22:31
Thanks Ed.

2.) 16 Feb 2023 20:51:43
FdJ failed to impress me tonight.

3.) 16 Feb 2023 21:57:27
Woukd rather sign Declan Rice.

4.) 17 Feb 2023 00:32:19
Thought FdJ was good, I can only imagine how good a midfield of Casemiro and De Jong would be, but if he doesn’t want to play for us then let’s move on.

5.) 17 Feb 2023 06:38:17
The dream midfield signing would be Bellingham. I don't think that will be happening.

6.) 17 Feb 2023 07:46:23
I hope he comes outstanding player.
Rice not in the and league at all imo. They could not be more different in their attributes.
The manager wants fdj for a reason so not sure why anybody would prefer rice in less you want the manager to change the style he wants to play.

7.) 17 Feb 2023 10:33:44
I hope they learnt the lesson last year and don't spend all summer chasing a player who doesn't want to come then ending up panic buying another Casemiro.

8.) 17 Feb 2023 12:11:52
if we panic buy another casemiro i'd be happy.

9.) 17 Feb 2023 13:11:49
I’d take a panic bought Casemiro every summer.

10.) 17 Feb 2023 13:14:30
Agree ken, FDJ is totally different to rice. He would be incredible in a midfield next to cassemiro. I just hope we don't waste time with him. If he doesn't want to come, find a player that EtH wants that does.

11.) 17 Feb 2023 19:11:14
We should get rice and Bellingham and Sabitzer

Sell mctominay, Fred and donny

Bring back Hannibal

Ahhh utopia.

12.) 17 Feb 2023 19:12:44
Agree dodgy fingers crossed we get the type of player the manger wants.

Ed002, is there any update on Pogba leaving this summer/ new contract or does it look like he will run his contract down and leave for free next summer? many thanks.

Hi Ed's

Are MU still trying to recruit a director of football?

Many thanks.

ne99il

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

1.) 09 Mar 2017 20:15:10
Are you aware of how that search is going? I know we had an issue trying to get the guy who was first choice. Have any other options become available? Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Not well.}

2.) 09 Mar 2017 21:04:15
Ed can you shed any light on who the possible candidates are and have we been in any sort of negotiations with any preferred target?

{Ed002's Note - It has not worked and the club need to rethink.}

3.) 10 Mar 2017 02:52:06
Heard it was Berta from Atletico we went for, heard rumors of Monchi from Sevilla was highly regarded aswell

Really intrigued on if Mourinho would be interested having one at the club as Mourinho likes to be more hands on regarding the management of a club.

{Ed002's Note - No it was neither of those.}

4.) 10 Mar 2017 12:02:33
Thanks for the information ed002

Something I wanna ask fellow fans, don't know your thoughts on us having one, I'm pretty wary of us ever having one as Mourinho is here, he likes to have control on all football aspects, he hasn't had good relations with the previous 2 clubs directors he had to work with Emenalo and Valdano

Just wondering Ed002 how is the restructing going regarding our scouting system, they overhauled it towards the end of 2016.

{Ed002's Note - There have been lots of changes to the scouting system at Manchester United and they will continue to change as they see fit - but for now it seems settled.}

5.) 10 Mar 2017 12:23:40
Thanks Ed002, have a nice day.

6.) 10 Mar 2017 13:13:02
Shane, I'm all for us having a sporting director. We didn't need one under Sir Alex but since then what has been the sporting vision for our club?

Ed Woodward is great at the commercial aspect of the club but we have had three managers in four years each very different with very different views on how football should be played. If we are to have a level of continuity we need a stable long term sporting vision for the club, that way we can shape the squad for the long term rather than having to completely change the playing staff every few years to suit the new manager.

Jose has already sold two players LvG paid 60m for. We can't keep doing that everytime we changed the manager.

7.) 10 Mar 2017 16:42:15
Fair points Shappy

Very reasonable answer and from your explanation I could understand why we should have one

I just feel Mourinho likes to do the majority of what a Director of Football would do, maybe it something we could re-visit when Mourinho leaves in the future.

8.) 10 Mar 2017 17:13:55
Shane, I think Mourinho will accept anything that makes his job easier. If having a man who can get the players in he wants when he wants is the outcome of having a DoF then he will happily accept I'm guessing.

9.) 10 Mar 2017 19:55:01
Ed Woodward already does that lol

A Director of Football isn't just about buying and selling players, he usually the "go between" of the board of directors and the manager

Personally Mourinho likes to be the manager that controls all the aspect of the Football side of a club, that's why he has had issues with his last 2 clubs, definitely at Real Madrid. Everyone knows how political the club is ran where the manager might only have a say in buying players, the majority of the time he not the one buying the players, it's usually Perez calling the shots

If United can find a person who is willing to carry Mourinho instructions out and make life easier for him then it could work but that's not a job description for a Director of Football, he basically being Mourinho Personal Assistant.

10.) 10 Mar 2017 20:08:49
Shane, name me a club Mourinho hasn't had a DoF at? As you say he has had issues with the guys at Chelsea and Real Madrid, but he also had to deal with a DoF at Porto and Inter.

United is the first and only club he has been at not to have one. I'm sure he'd adapt to what he has lived with for close to 15 years. Lol.

11.) 10 Mar 2017 22:33:12
He hasn't I don't think, I'm not sure but I think Luis Figo may of been the DOF at Inter at that time, I be brutally honest the Porto one no idea.

If it can work I be happy with it, I just think Mourinho likes to go his business his way.

Ed, a few questions if you don't mind, do you think there is any chance that Greenwood will return to MU? and is there any interest in Rashford?

Thanks.

ne99il

{Ed002's Note - Anthony Martial (W/F) Has to go but there little clear interest. Juventus had an interest but he would not be first choice now. Out of contract in the Summer with Fenerbahce keen to take a chance, else it will be the Middle East or a new contract.
Mason Greenwood (F) Time to move on - offered to Marseille and Atalanta. Turkey or the Middle East might provide permanent options. Atletico Madrid or Real Sociedad may offer an option but the fee will be too high for Getafe to buy but they will try to find a creative solution or another loan. He is on the list of Michael Emenalo, but that may not suit the player,
Marcus Rashford (LW/F) Much will depend on what happens in the summer regarding a new coach, but I am sure Manchester United will be regretting the new long-term contract. A third-party has spoken to clubs, including Juventus and Arsenal about him on behalf of Manchester United,but I am not aware of any serious interest. Suggestion that he could be a Mbappe replacement at PSG seem far-fetched given they have other clear targets in mind.}
