Chelsea cuptied Cucurella by playing him last night so I'm guessing he's out of a move? Clickbait Meejah are now touting Reguilon on loan instead.
The last 24 hours of the window are always the best.

notimetoulouse

{Ed002's Note - Why?}

1.) 31 Aug 2023 17:14:00
If this is about the reguilon move ed I asked the same question.

Do you think we may still go for cucurella? I think he's a better option personally.

{Ed002's Note - There is no reason not to go for MC and SR has struggled rather.}

2.) 31 Aug 2023 17:15:05
Ed002

Its a expensive deal and the is cup tied now too. I see why we have moved on from the deal. He was my proffered choice out of the guys being mentioned.

{Ed002's Note - It is the League Cup only and is of noconsquence.}

3.) 31 Aug 2023 18:11:10
The consequence is that because he played last night if he went back in January they couldn’t loan him to anyone else.

{Ed002's Note - January?}

4.) 31 Aug 2023 18:00:09
Ed002

Then maybe just too expensive for us. Its the realities of being a united supporter atm.

5.) 31 Aug 2023 21:40:42
It is being reported United want a break clause in the contract so that it can be ended in January, apparently that is in the Reguilon deal, may be wrong but it’s what is being reported.

Zion Suzuki, 6'3" USA born goalkeeper at Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan is the latest name in the frame this for us afternoon.

For us this afternoon. Aged finger issues strike again.

2.) 06 Jul 2023 18:27:13
Makes sense. Realistically we need two keepers with de Gea, Henderson and possibly Heaton on the way.

Onana will be incredible but expensive, therefore the new no.2 needs to be a £5m ish sort of purchase. Vitek can be no.3.

3.) 06 Jul 2023 20:43:54
Good back up option. Hopefully he can be moulded into a future no1.

12 Jun 2023 16:51:25
Di'Shon Bernard off on a free. Clearout ongoing.

notimetoulouse

1.) 12 Jun 2023 17:17:13
Need a lot more than that to leave if we want our prime targets this summer.

Hope they don't hold the club to ransom and we can rebuild the way EtH intends to.

2.) 12 Jun 2023 18:47:34
Only Henderson, Maguire, Bailly, Williams, McTominay, Fred, Sancho and Martial to go ??.

3.) 12 Jun 2023 19:32:12
3 will be sold.
2 will stay.
3 will be loaned out.

4.) 12 Jun 2023 20:05:18
Maguire will go, Newcastle and Wolves I heard the ones to watch.
Henderson to Forest
Fred to Fulham been mooted
Scotty to Newcastle been mooted
Sancho if an offer £50-£60m comes in, Spurs possibly. So I think outgoings we could recoup a fair bit.
Bailly, Telles and Brandie you’d think will be gone, Tuanzebe too.

5.) 12 Jun 2023 22:02:49
Can’t see Sancho going he’s on ridiculous wages. Probably loan where we cover part his wages.

6.) 12 Jun 2023 22:30:08
Who? Never heard of him. Doesn't even remotely constitute the beginning of a clear out.

7.) 14 Jun 2023 00:54:10
De Gea, Henderson
Lindelof, Bailly, Maguire
Brandon, AWB, Telles
Fred, Mctominay, Donny, Mejbri
Sancho, Martial, Pellistri, Elanga, Amad

I think that if we are able to move 8 out of these 17, it would be a massive success this transfer window.
Move on by selling, selling at cheap fees with a buyback or sell-on for young players. Or selling the likes of AWB and Lindelof because after the season they had, their values will be the highest.

And even if we still have 8 out of these lot left, I don't think there is a lot of difference in quality keeping one and selling one.
If for example telles remains unsold, he can play 10 games a season as cover until his contract runs out next year and he eventually leaves.
If one of fred or mctom or donny stay i'm not too fussed which one stays.

Sell 7-8 of these lot and its a massive transfer window success.

According to this afternoons Lamestream Media, the latest buyers hat in the ring is (drumroll) .
Elon Musk.
$4.75 bn offered.
Probably based on his throwaway tweet of a couple of months ago "Just bought Twitter, feeling cute, might buy Man United next".
Classic clickbait, or does it have legs? -.

Going to see loads of names this week. One consistent point though seems that none are prepared to pay what the Glazers want if you believe reports. Going to be an interesting week or two.

2.) 13 Feb 2023 22:41:59
I don't think anyone could know with Elon Musk, he's clearly a brilliant mind but he's also wired differently.

3.) 14 Feb 2023 07:44:48
Have a horrible feeling the 2 brothers going to buy the rest out with more money leveraged from the club. Eth success has made them think twice. Please let me be wrong. Ed is this a probable scenario?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

4.) 14 Feb 2023 13:48:15
Thanks Ed002. Best news all day.

Video surfaced of Sabitzer at Munich airport tonight, dressed in tracksuit with rucsac and wheelycase - doorstepped by reporter about his destination - 'Manchester? ' - ' Ja, Manchester'.

Before we get too carried away. Lausanne Sport, a cautionary tale. is worth a gloogle.

notimetoulouse

1.) 07 Jan 2024 01:19:28
Interesting

I admit to being a little worried whilst also excited about what is happening.

On the one hand SJR is no business clown, but he is NOT a football expert and when I hear admittedly click bait rumours you can’t help but worry he is going to be like a bird with shiny paper with some of the names he may or may not push onto ETH.

Only time will tell eh!

2.) 07 Jan 2024 14:27:03
Keefy, Do you think SJR will be be making decisions based on gut feelings and Eeny, meeny, miny, moe?

What about the rumours of Jean-Claude Blanc being linked at CEO, a man who has successfully head down that role at Juventus and PSG helping both sides achieve great success.

Or the rumours of Paul Mitchell and Dan Ashworth being considered for a DoF type role within the club.

These are people who have been successful at other clubs, people with real expertise and knowledge.

Do you think SJR is going to go the the trouble of hiring these subject matter experts to then ignore their advice and do the opposite thing?

SJR isn't a self made billionaire because he knows everything better than everyone else. He's done so by surrounding himself with experts in the field, listened to their advice and followed through with it.

Ineos have bought into other clubs, and have had both some success and some failures. However, you do need to consider the context around the ownership of those clubs.

What a club can afford to spend and what level of expertise and talent you can attract at those clubs is directly linked to the perceived level of those clubs.

Pretty sure if SJR had got on the phone to Jose Mourinho and offered him 500k per year to manage Lausanne Jose would have told him where to go.

Of course the other way to look at it is they have steadily bought into bigger and bigger clubs, learning more about what is needed at each stage.

3.) 07 Jan 2024 18:46:51
PSG achieved great success?

They win a farmers league (god only knows how that league makes Europe’s “top 5”) and have failed at winning the CL, which is seemingly what they are trying to do.

Nothing at all against JCB here but that's some statement Shappy.

4.) 07 Jan 2024 21:03:34
NO I don’t think that. I said he is not a clown. I also said I am a little excited but at the same time worried about some of the names being bandied around and am concerned that ETH may get pushed into players that do not suit his alleged system.

You among many others have banged on about how ETH has not got the cattle he wants and there is a real risk he will continue along that route.

Old school I know but the manager should be the one choosing players.

Sheesh take a breath!

5.) 07 Jan 2024 21:03:58
Wazza, You can only beat the teams in front of you. Before JCB worked at PSG they had won 2 league titles in their history and hadn't won it for 17 years. They've since won it 9 times in 11 years.

That constitutes a great success. Taking a club that are not historical or habitual winners and utterly dominating the league for over a decade.

You question Ligue 1 as a top five league, but which of the other top European leagues would you have over it? Portugal maybe come closest. You should probably consider the massive amount of top players produced in France. Look at the National team and the options they leave behind during international tournaments that would be first choice for most other nations.

I'd argue that Ligue 1 is every bit as competitive and probably higher in quality overall compared to the Bundesliga. Yet no one questions their place in the top five.

No big fan of the Mailonline, but today they've just done a brilliant expose of City's CFG multi club business model, and the way they are 'hoarding' players and moving them around between clubs. With clubs in other countries now waking up and complaining legally, it could be a ticking time bomb.
Well worth a read.

notimetoulouse

1.) 28 May 2023 13:25:44
That's not to mention imagine you support one of these teams your progress will always be held back as you can't be in the same competition as city.

2.) 29 May 2023 07:58:38
Clever business model, however dubious.

21 Mar 2023 14:17:40
Anyone else see the Mail article re Senor Garnacho the other day?
He put up an instagram post showing his apartment set up ready for him to watch the Fulham game, and on the sofa was a Vape thing with a 'tank'? that is six tiimes larger than normal. that is apparently illegal to buy in the UK (Elux Legend 3500?) .
It was deleted by him within minutes and replaced with the same shot, but no vape.
I know. could have been his mates, not his, But whoever owns it appears to have a serious habit.

1.) 21 Mar 2023 16:33:41
Imagine that made a national newspaper ?‍♂️.

2.) 21 Mar 2023 16:34:31
He's a kid. It happens. Leave him be. Clearly doesn't affect his performances. Nitpicking at its finest.

3.) 22 Mar 2023 03:57:09
Pathetic
He could smoke 50 a day for all I care
Are footballers not allowed a life.

4.) 22 Mar 2023 09:59:07
Kids are dumb. My 17 year old decided at 16 (Never smoked), that he will start vaping. I always made a deal with my kids, if they don't smoke, then I'll buy them a car at 17. Worked with other two.

On the other hand if you are a footballer, your career only lasts as long as your health, thus pretty stupid to put anything into your lungs. United will be invested in his health/ lifestyle, so don't worry.

5.) 22 Mar 2023 20:43:37
Is it sensible? No. Will it significantly impact his career? Probably not.

Few players play much beyond their mid-thirties. While if they get to the top of the game they certainly don't have to keep playing to earn a living into their late thirties.

Ozil has just retired at the age of 34. Which is pretty standard, although there are the few exceptions that go on into their late thirties still playing at a high level.

My point being if a player trains hard at a top club with great fitness coaches then the effects of vaping/ smoking will unlikely start to effect them until after their playing days.

Because it's frowned upon nowadays many players go to great lengths to hide the fact they are smokers or with the younger generations vapers.

Rooney for example was a smoker for his entire playing career. It didn't stop him playing at the highest level. Towards the end of his career it was his injuries that slowed him down more than his lung power. He wasn't out of puff, he just wasn't as explosive in his movements anymore.

In Garnacho's case it is something that is bad for his image, but it is unlikely to impact his career on the pitch.

Media are all over a Dumfries buy today. With the transformation ETH has worked on AWB, do we really need DD?
All that's needed is to bring on/ coach AWB to get forward more and cross to the new big guy and we could save some millions to spend elsewhere.
It's a purely personal opinion but the transformation in AWB lately is proof positive of the skillsets of ETH and his new coaching squad.
DD or stick with AWB?

notimetoulouse

1.) 16 Jan 2023 23:18:50
Not sold on Dumfries. I don't see RB as a priority this window in any case. Then again if ETH and his coaching staff can make AWB look good what could they do with DD!

2.) 17 Jan 2023 05:09:39
AWB’s positioning still needs a lot of work. He gets drawn in centrally far too often, leaving acres of space on the flank for the opposition to attack. I do think he’s improved offensively as of late, but his defending is nowhere near up to scratch for a team with title ambitions.

3.) 17 Jan 2023 08:46:56
then again Dumfries is known for leaving acres of space behind him because all he cares about is attack.

If I was DoF I wouldn't look to Dumfries, too expensive for me, there are bigger holes in the squad right now, for me.
I'd probably concentrate on planning to thin the squad out to make room in the budget for needed additions and for youth.

4.) 17 Jan 2023 14:42:23
We should definitely be looking at the youth, there’s a number of 30+ players involved in our starting line up. Madrids midfield looks home and hosed for the next 10 years with their recent recruitment.

On DD, I like him. I like what he gives us up top and would see him as an upgrade to AWB despite the upturn in form. However, it’s far from a priority. Also think Timber is a player we should be keen on.

Patrick I dropped straight to the bottom of the post to comment on the split glove incident that took minutes to sort and gave Ali and his team time to get back in the fight (that has now faded into history) - but you got there first.
I'm 76 now, but at the time was an active amateur boxer and watched this fight in a pub up in the Lake District. Henry was toe to toe until the cut. Great scrap.

You're spot on Fizz.
Always was a striker from 8 or 9 ish, but he was switched to MF as he had more of a physical presence for his age group.
It's well worth a try to play him further up,9 goals in 41
appearances for Scotland so far.
Anything is preferable to seeing The Incredible Sulk warming up to try and beat his current club record of covering 600 yards in 90 minutes.
He could get a run out against a lesser team in the Carabao Cup.
Oh. er,
maybe next season then.

It might actually work.
