Ed, firstly thanks for all the information on here.

My question is around defenders, especially centre back where for me we need 2. Jones and Smalling are ok but both injury prone IMO.

Do you know if we have genuine interest in any CB's and if so are we close to sealing the deal.

Finally business so far has been spot on for me.

{Ed004's Note - I expect one centre back to be signed and one to go (Evans) although McNair or Blackett could go on loan. The club seems to be trying hard for Ramos as we speak and he seems to be interested in signing however dealing with Madrid is hard at the best of times and even harder than when it is their captain. If we can not get him I expect the club to push on for Otamendi. Whoever is signed is most likely to partner Smalling who when fit is easily our best cb}

Ed, who do you think would be 4th choice out of Jones and Rojo? I feel if we got Otamendi then we could see Rojo play a bit more for the language.

{Ed004's Note - I reckon it'll be Jones covering Smalling as they are the Right side cb and Rojo covering the new signing and Shaw}

2.) 23 Jul 2015 19:28:51
Jones and smalling are too injury prone so we definitely need another CB otamendi would be the better choice. I would get rid of Evans and blackett their not good enough.The fullbacks are going to be the big difference this year with Shaw and Darmian their going to bring pace and power to our flanks . My only concern is with young and mata playing on the wing they both like to cut back and slow the play down we need drop the two of them for depay and hfully pedro if we get him . Then we will be much more dangerous team

3.) 23 Jul 2015 19:37:17
What if someone jumps in for otimendi (ie citeh) while we pointlessly wait for ramos deal? Are we at risk of missing out on both ?

{Ed004's Note - If someone jumps in for him I'm sure we will bid if we want him}

4.) 23 Jul 2015 22:12:58
I don't see us getting Ramos, they won't let him go and now MEN are reporting Ronaldo is the one we want now that Bale has been made the main man.

We shall see how this interesting story unravels.

5.) 23 Jul 2015 23:31:23
If rafa sacrifices Ronaldo to make bale the main man then the white hankies will be out and rafa will be gone before Xmas. Its commercial suicide and football lunacy, if there is a power struggle at RM Ronaldo will win out I've no doubt about that.

thanks very much ed004

{Ed004's Note - no problem}

Indeed Ken, and apparently Bale isn't too popular with the fans either.

A lot of people defending LVG are missing the point. Firstly having watched united for over 30 years I don't demand "success". But if you have had 3,transfer windows and vast sums of money, the least you can expect is a balance. So if LVG plan was at this stage to have a bang average mid player at CB and a striking option of another bang average midfielder, he is on course. He falls out with players due to his sherr arrogance, which will be ignored if you are winning. That new keeper has been reserve for his last 2 clubs, the whole keeping fiasco is embarrassing regardless of who was at fault. He better put DDG back in on Saturday. As for strikers, if Rooney gets injured we are relyin on 2 young lads who are playing in prem for first time, they should be nurtured and eased in, not relied on! If and when Jones/Smalling get injured we have young McNair and Rojo who he tried to swap and has surprise surprise, fell out with him! We got in champs league last year so LVG did as he was asked. The football is as boring as I've ever seen at United, C- for me so far for LVG and the heat is definitely on.

Nach 73, United should always be interested in the best young English talent. Stones could go on to become our new Rio and play for next 10 years.

Id love to know how many times all the buy Otamendi brigade have actually seen him play?

Paddy needs to go out on loan and learn his trade, Ed25 make a valid point.

{Ed001's Note - why not just give him more games with United to learn his trade?}

As good as DM is, it was quite clear he did not want to come to United in the first place last season. If it was not for FFP he would have joined PSG 100%.

I don't know about the rest of you but for me if he doesn't want to be here, let him leave. He has not settled on or off the pitch, the break in was sad, however to me that is a conveinent excuse.

A parting of the waves is best all round, the main thing is replacing him with like for like quality.
