Just had a quick surf and there's several sites and papers saying that there's been an official bid for schweinstiger

redtash

1.) 09 Jul 2015 22:51:50
Some reliable people pointing out that the next few days are very decisive the in his future.

2.) 09 Jul 2015 23:20:42
Monday will be the decisive day, apparently they meeting over the weeken sweini n the chairman, looks like bayern will generously ask him to leave or be on the bench

3.) 10 Jul 2015 09:08:21
Big V,

Let's hope that is what they ask him, because if they do he will be a United player before next week is out, not sure it will be as simple as that though, it never seems to be!

4.) 10 Jul 2015 10:08:38
I think we have a pretty decent chance of this one. Bayern seem to want him to leave and LVG wants him, could be a good match. Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin would be two fantastic new additions to our midfield.

5.) 10 Jul 2015 13:34:13
It does seem that he is not wanted after rummigers comments about him being flattered. Not the words of somebody that wants to keep him if you ask me.

6.) 10 Jul 2015 13:40:36
would be very exschiting Fresh!

BBC reporting that we're interested in sakho of West Ham

redtash

1.) 09 Jul 2015 16:22:39
I was really impressed by him home and away last year, didn't give the defence a minutes rest, fast and strong. He's shown he can deliver in the Premier League

2.) 09 Jul 2015 16:31:13
Well we do need a new striker but him? Is he the guy we really need?

I'd rather take a chance and splash £40million on Kane.

3.) 09 Jul 2015 16:32:17
Hope not, not near good enough in my opinion

4.) 09 Jul 2015 16:51:44
Not a glam name, but not an overpriced has been who will command all the money in the world. He had a fantastic season and for £15 million, great deal. A long way to go before anything concrete can be proven though!

5.) 09 Jul 2015 17:22:24
You have to think what do we need and what are our plans. We play 433 then we need 1 more than rooney/Wilson. If rooney is 1st choice in lvgs mind you need an up and coming who is willing to bide his time and take over fully later. Sako possibly does Thst along with benteke but at a much cheaper price.
Who knows they may even take Rafael as part of the deal!!!

6.) 09 Jul 2015 20:03:33
Could be like Saha. He turned good for us (when fit!)

7.) 09 Jul 2015 22:01:07
Like 60% of you, I would actually prefer the £15m Sakho. For now.
Jeeeees u guys make me feel old!

👴👴👴

8.) 09 Jul 2015 22:38:31
Yep Rooney up front should be good for 15 goals if he plays upfront every game and include penalties. Rooney is going to have to have complete change of trajectory to be the striker many are expecting him to be. That rarely happens at his age and is a huge gamble.i have no doubt that rvp had he played all season would score twice as many as roonaldo. Our current strike options aren't even in the top half of the prem in terms of results.Rooney ain't good enough to have team play for him and can't play as part of a team. He can't beat at egg. Apologies for the Rooney thing.

Alonso has tweeted a farewell msg wishing di Maria all the best at utd

redtash

1.) I think it will be done tomorrow with a medical tomorrow afternoon. He and Rojo should almost certainly play next weekend against Burnley - hopefull our first win of the season.

2.) So has Marcelo now. Feels as though the deal is edging closer. I have to say I have a strong distrust of Ballache and slyspurts though.

Given team mate responses on twitter, and the Ancelotti interview today, it seems fair to assume Di Maria is leaving. I'll be much more happy however when move is confirmed. This is still Madrid we are talking about. They have their pride and will not want to look weak selling a quality player to United. If they get £60m then you would think they have achieved that, getting a £20m premium. i'm not getting too excited until it pops up on Uniteds website. If Madrid were to turn round and ask for a fee £70million +, I wouldn't blame EW & LVG for walking away.

3.) Fresh!,
Are you not expecting a win against MK? ;)

First Old Trafford Experience

Been waiting to write this for a few weeks but been really busy.

I've been a United fan since I was 10 and I'm now 40. I'm from Nottingham which has always caused me issues but I've never denied my appreciation or love for my beloved Man Utd. However. Even though I have never missed a televised match, i've never had the opportunity to visit our stadium or watch a match in the flesh.

In steps my mate Woody.

Woody was waiting 8 years for his United season ticket and he's moved from the very back of N4408 to row 2 ( great view) .

Now for some reason Woody isn't feeling the mighty U. N. I. T. E. D v Atalanta and has offered me the tickets (1 adult 1 concession) for a paltry £40.

Absolute scenes in my humble abode as myself and my 9 year old high five realize that we are about to watch the baddest man to grace god's green lawn ( Cristiano ) and several other men of a lesser stature play a crucial encounter in the mighty Champions League. A should win game, yes, but special none the less.

We arrived at the ground at approximately half past 6 and after a program, a magazine, 8 floors of stairs and several rests we arrived at our seats with a heightened sense of anticipation and my son was eager to soak in the atmosphere.

After the warm ups and the entrance from the players to the actual game my son was only out fanned by myself as I was honestly starstruck and fully captivated by the match.

I don't want to discuss the first half as it was a nightmare but it only added to the night.

The second half on the other hand was absolutely first class and everything I ever imagined that watching United would ever be. Edge of the seat football and the winner from Ronaldo just sealed it for us.

It was easily the best match I've witnessed in the flesh and as it was our first game it was truly special. (I went to the Euro final)

We are now on the list for season tickets of our own and can't wait to watch again. A truly great experience. The atmosphere was unbelievable all through the match and even after all around the ground. My boy was singing viva Ronaldo all the way back to the Trafford centre on the tram and far into the night, and in the car the following morning.

Anyway. Thanks to all of you for one of the best sporting times of my life and sealing my son's allegiance.

Much love.

Welcome - Nottingham here too. Small world!

2.) 03 Nov 2021 23:50:55
A nice refreshing read. All the best with the season ticket.

3.) 04 Nov 2021 00:02:35
Small world indeed Mr Fresh. What part of Nottingham?

4.) 04 Nov 2021 00:44:56
Doing things like this with your children lives forever in our memory. Your son will tell his son about his first ever match and how he saw one of the greatest players of all time. It is what bonds generations and makes star struck children out of all grown ups. myself included.

{Ed0666's Note - what if his son doesn't have a son?

5.) 04 Nov 2021 08:10:00
He will have a seventh son of a seventh son. And it will be called Tim, the Sorcerer.

6.) 04 Nov 2021 08:32:47
Mapperley.

7.) 04 Nov 2021 09:45:23
This is great to hear, glad you had such a great time. Hopefully you get your season tickets and make many more happy memories watching our club.

8.) 04 Nov 2021 10:22:46
Redtash -nice story. So there is still a waiting list for season tickets? So many people said i recent seasons there wasnt a waiting list . I know matchday tickets are a different story.

9.) 04 Nov 2021 06:06:51
Then he'll tell his daughter Ed.

Seeing as Rooney played against us Tonight, what are everyone's thoughts on him as a player and his utd career? . For me as he is a similar age and of similar background he was an absolute hero of mine. He didn't give a schnitzel who it was he spoke his mind and would Julian dicks the shin pads off anybody.

Then Mark Hughes a rocket volley in any corner. I always said I'd only ever ask for a photo with 2 sportsman and that was him and Ricky Hatton. A proper man's man. Hero of a council estate and scorer of wonder goals. I'm from Nottingham and he really broke my heart when he went to derby. But I'd still like a snap with him.

A generational talent that didn’t reach his potential.

2.) 06 Mar 2020 08:26:06
Top player. started 2 years tool long at United but gave his all in every game.
Great goal scorer and scored some great goals. Team player.
Didn't look after himself as well as he could have but stll achieved plenty.

3.) 06 Mar 2020 10:45:00
It’s sad watching him now. The guy I looked up to as a kid, trying to play a role he’s never been suited for. I’ll always remember the Wayne Rooney from about 2010, he was hands down the best player in the world around then. The season ronaldo and tevez left.

Really didn’t enjoy watching him dropping into the back 3 to receive the ball thinking he was scholes or pirlo last night. Thankfully we can all remember just how good he was.

Caolán.

4.) 06 Mar 2020 11:59:14
Caolan he isn't Scholes or Pirlo yet he played the pass of the game yesterday.

5.) 06 Mar 2020 13:02:11
Shan he will never lose the ability to ping a ball about with space. However watch him now, that’s not Wayne Rooney. Watching players ghost past him- it’s not nice to watch. He’s at derby for a promotional stunt with a betting company.

Maybe it’s because I got into football around the time he burst on the scene, but it’s not nice watching one your idols visibly struggling. All the things about him as a player which we loved has gone and it’s a shame.

6.) 06 Mar 2020 14:24:01
comes to every one colan just partof getting older.

7.) 06 Mar 2020 15:59:54
He is not at derby for a promotional stunt.

8.) 06 Mar 2020 18:09:42
He was never the best player in the world but he was a great player at one time. Imo.

05 Mar 2020 23:27:44
What is everyone's thoughts about Rooney's career and his achievements as a utd player?
For me as I'm a similar age and background to him I've got to be honest . I thought he was immense. Yh he mellowed over the years and it definitely subtracted from his game for me. His first few years he was like a cross between van basten and Julian dicks. A proper man's man. Fresh off a council estate.

I loved to watch him. As he had children it was like it took the bite out of him. Not knocking him. It happens to everyone. But in his early days he was a fierce apponent. Keane would have loved him in his corner without a doubt. He had the toughness and tenacity of Mark Hughes. And the vision of paul scholes. For me. Genuinely a truly great player. And that over head kick against city!

Personally I think maguire looks a decent player. Big strong. Young at 25. Delivered on the big stage.
Yh he's come from nowhere but who had ever heard of vidic or Bailey? Cbs grow with experience a lot like gks. If he's being rated by some of the top scouts and coaches in the world then surely he's worth a look?

Dwelling on the past is a weakness. Comparing everyone to fergie is dwelling on the past. Believe in the current manager. I'm pretty sure he's in a better position than us to make a decision on who we sign.

I'm with Dean 100% dg has handled it all right on the line and very professional and so have the club. No name calling or any 'sterling' behavior just an air of professionalism and class with no fingers being pointed. The club have stood staunch and shown that they won't be bullied and you've got to wonder whether van gaal has brought that to the table, he's definitely a not messing about character who's obviously respected in international football circles. I think he could lead us right into another period of domination.personally I'm proper made up how things are going at the min and I think that's how by far the majority of the club feel.I can't wait to see what happens over the next few weeks

Personally I'm over the moon we've got BS absolute quality, experience, the complete midfielder imo but what's this? MY GOD! he's THIRTY!! Ahhhhhh please. Obviously van gaal and his firm have watched him to make sure he's still committed to the game, they didn't ring his mum and ask if he fancies a kickabout. Come on, please give the manager of the best club in the world some credit and don't doubt the level of intelligence a manager of his level must posses.

Speculation of the best team in Europe and whether we actually have a valid argument is not a discussion I expected this season. I've been a man utd fan since I was 9 years old and seeing as I'm from Nottingham I've had many arguments over my right to follow the club. Mark Hughes first made me a united fan purely by his volleying abilities and then cantona by his sheer class.
There have been many many great players at United but for me Ronaldo will be for the current history and foreseeable future be the best. Absolute determination and belief. A purely winning mentality that does not accept second place or cutting corners. Strong, and challenging until the final minute. In my mind's eye what sir Alex would see as the perfect player.

I've spoken to many of my other fellow utd fans this afternoon and I've not heard one murmur or the slightest of quarrel or dissatisfaction.
I'm genuinely absolutely buzzing and I can't wait until the next game. He will bring so much to this team in every aspect. It's not possible for this to be a bad signing.
All of the top clubs have made top signings and had good windows but I believe we have just smashed that little saucy grandma out the park.
Roll on Newcastle. Btw. Good job eds.
