For anyone that's panicking about our CB/CF situations, don't worry, the club knows what it is doing, I wouldn't be surprised if the players are waiting to see if we win our qualifier for CL first, be patient guys.
tell me one team who have finished their business yet :)

3-1 united today, depay, Rooney, Mata with bentalab scoring for spurs

Cavani rumours hotting up again, can't see it happening as a player of his pedigree will move to be first choice, if he is happy being played on the wing or second choice he wouldn't be looking to move, only way I see it is if Rooney I dropped or put in the hole or Maya is sold, something I do not want to happen, I think Mata is much more valuable than people give him credit for, one of my favourite players currently

Given that two of Schweinsteiger , Carrick and Scneiderlin will start most games , if we signed someone like Cavani and Rooney was moved to no. 10 , where would that leave Herrera ?

2.) 14 Jul 2015 11:49:36
Formations isn't my concern really I'm just excited at the prospect of having such quality in our squad. That said here's my take on cavani.

I'd accept cavani however not in exchange for ADM. I'm reluctant for him to go. Just cavani though seems to fit in with LVG and what he's doing. Physically our team was weak last year and cavani is a physical strong player almost Costa like. I'm looking forward to competing physically this year with the singings we have made. Buzzing for the season.

PS what a genuine guy Bastian appears to be at first glance. Bit like Mata.

3.) 14 Jul 2015 12:03:56
My thoughts exactly, one of the reasons I liked Mata even in his Chelsea days, whilst the other end of the spectrum you have ADM who seems to be a primaddona in every walk of life lol

Back on the original topic, for the reasons I stated I can't see cavani ending up at old Trafford unless we are planning on using two strikers, good point about Herrera, I would hate him to be affected as he's a great little player to have in the side

4.) 14 Jul 2015 14:02:36
The problem is the same as last season
Unless lvg is willing to drop rooney there is no point bringing in a big name striker who isn't willing to sit on a bench personally I think cavani would be ideal as a lone front man for us we need a shake up in the striker department someone that gives us something different I'm hoping James Wilson is going to get a lot more game time I believe he could be better than Harry kane and get Charlie Austin as the third striker bite the bullet and sell rooney LVG

5.) 14 Jul 2015 14:24:43
Meant to include that we're most likely playing with 1 up top with support from wingers in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 hence why it doesn't seem plausible

I keep reading that di Maria moved to us purely for money, in the glamour age of football where the vast majority of top flight footballers across the globe are very wealthy why would he move to us on a huge contract without wanting to be here?
He's the one who had to sign on the dotted line, he even got advice from Ronaldo about the move, if it was purely money surely he wouldn't have cared?
I'm not advocating his performances last season (some were pretty shocking tbh) and his heart might not be in it now but to suggest the move was originally all about money seems ludicrous, he has a young family so the move would have been clearly thought out before hand not just to gain a few extra K's per week.

1.) 03 Jul 2015 15:01:23
Simple:

Di Maria wanted a new contract.
Real wouldn't offer him the massive wages he wanted, and said that he was free to leave for the right price.
His agent touted him to various clubs, who all balked at the wages he wanted and the fee Madrid wanted.
It looked like PSG may have been able to put a package together and this was Di Maria's preferred choice.
However, FFP buggered this move.
United offered the money, and because he had no other option he signed.

2.) 03 Jul 2015 18:15:11
But he is still a human being and I can't understand why he would come to us on a huge contract knowing that it would make the majority of other clubs baulk at the transfer fee, wage demands etc if he had no intention of signing for us in the first place?

3.) 03 Jul 2015 20:02:57
He backed himself into a corner. When it became obvious that Real weren't willing to give him a bigger contract and were more than happy to listen to offers, he had effectively burned his bridges there. His agent thought that, on the back of a very good season, he could leverage Madrid for a new contract or get a move to a team of his choice. When PSG couldn't put together the package, we were the only game in town.

Maybe his agent told him that he could move to PSG after a year (Di Maria openly courted them in an interview last season), I don't know. What I do know is that Di Maria wanted massive wages, Madrid wanted a massive fee, and we paid it. Since then it doesn't look like Di Maria is happy here, and I would wager that LVG has been less than impressed with his attitude too.

4.) 03 Jul 2015 22:29:34
If his agent told him to move in a year you'd think with the wages he's on he'd be pushing his performances a lot more because on current club form and his wages no one could surely see him as a good investment.
I hope he stays, I hope he was just having a hard first year with the break in and all, I hope he comes good and shows his undoubted quality. A lot of hope there lol

Not posted for a long while but seeing reports on Ramos from Madrid being on United's radar.
I would normally assume this type of speculation is purely brought on to get better contracts for the player at their current clubs but this one I'm not sure, I just have a gut feeling we genuinely could be in for him, ball playing centre back who is comfortable in possession, I'm not sure whether we could land him but i'd be interested to know if any posters or the ed's think there is a chance we push for him?
Thanks

1.) 22 Jun 2015 15:10:31
Yes, he is exactly the centre back LVG would want. But no, Ed001 says it is nonsense and he wants a pay rise.

2.) 22 Jun 2015 15:45:59
Using my head I agree he's trying to get a pay rise, I'm just going on a gut feeling, even with his antics I would love him to be here, I had the same feeling about Mata, van persie and falcao before we were even linked
I'm not claiming to be psychic I just seem to get drawn to other teams players and Ramos is one when I watch Madrid :P

with the sudden influx of rumours regarding german players who would you all prefer us to sign out of Kroos or Gotze?

i would prefer gotze personally due to age and his potential is staggeringly high. He would seemingly fit into a LVG side easier than Kroos IMO

but beggers can't be choosers so i'd be over the moon either way :P

sparky87

1.) Gotze would go to waste with kagawa, rooney and Mata already at the club, Kroos is more suited to play a variety of roles, he can play in the hole, in a 2 man midfield, in a 3 on the left right or holding and also in a defensive 2 with 3 in front, he is 2 footed and is an absolute gem from set pieces. Give it 5 years and people will mention him in the same bracket as Scholes, Xavi and Pirlo.

2.) Kroos, as Anon says, Gotze would likely be wasted.

3.) I thought gotze was a more attack minded CM? Not a No10? Either way you may be right Anon, i'm just a sucker for flair and skill which gotze has in abundance :)

Kroos has always been an upgraded carrick to me but is a lot more clinical in all areas.

I was thinking of the gotze-kagawa effect on Dortmund, add a fit RVP, janujaz, Reus?

4.) Forgot to mention Mata lol mata for kagz?

5.) Easily Kroos, we need a deep lying playmaker and he'll probably be the best in the world in a few years time. Gotze looks pretty inconsistent at the moment. He was Bayern's worst player against us in the first leg.

6.) The Dortmund team worked beautifully with Gotze, Kagawa and Reus behind Lewy. But that wouldn't work here as I don't see us playing that system.

7.) Kroos everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Should be moving heaven and earth to sign him. Immense talent.

8.) Fresh

Kagawa and Reus have never played together.

I'm as gutted as anyone we got knocked out especially at home, our performance was woeful yes but that game wasn't ever going to show if massive strides had been made or not.
Arsenal got dumped out 3-0, the competition isn't taken that seriously by the biggest teams, the players didn't look devestated after losing, it's used for youth let's face it.

People need to chill, we won't play like that every week, we'll go back to winning against palace.
