Any truth about ESPN rumours for 19year old Kai Havertz?

He is going to be some player from what little I have seen.

{Ed002's Note - Not if it says Manchester United has made an approach.}

I've watched quite a bit of him in the Bundesliga this season. I believe he's only 19. Such a classy attacking midfield player and Leverkusen's top scorer. He scored again today! Such a good league to watch with a lot of goals.

I may seem to be a plastic fan coming alive in the site when the team loses, but I have my 99 reasons.

Tactics. Poor team ethic. Poor team selection- all have been covered by fellow posters.
Let me add my cent of worth of opinion-

The biggest gripe I find when I watch our team is the lack of work-press they put in, it just feels that they are playing a friendly. Every other opponent always beat us with their work-ethic which United lack high time, it never justifies me how can an Athlete with such ridiculous wages just not run for 90 minutes. I would love to get beaten with our player's running like headless chicken instead of strolling in the park without any zeal and passion.

The management needs to have a serious look at the future roadmap for a very 'big' club like Man Utd. They can not take a back pedal and hence lose it over the years. It needs some serious sorting out, Spend money, get manager, get players but make some goddamn progress and win those fans back again who have been loyal from a very long time and deserve the best from United.

Sorry to say this, But City look minimum two times the team of United and they achieved it in two years with a dynamic new manager.

I think getting a ballsy upcoming manager should be the biggest change for a better faster great future

Good post Surz. I watched the game overseas so I don't know if Steven Nzonzi interview was shown to the masses, but the last thing he said was, "We thought Utd would press us more, it was surprising" or words to that effect. For it to be remarked upon by a rival player shows how easy a ride they got on the ball.

We are so lazy off the ball, the amount of times we won the ball back on account of a bad pass (not our pressing) and it just showed most of the team trotting or walking, no effort to move into a decent position or to support their colleagues. This was after 10 minutes until virtually the end of the game. Sevilla have really struggled of late, but we literally looked like it was a warm up session.

2.) 14 Mar 2018 07:01:58
Even when we did press it wasnt as a unit and if we didn't win the ball immediately we stopped and strolled back .
It was an unacceptable performance worst I've seen in ages.

3.) 14 Mar 2018 07:57:03
Excellent post Surz and I've been harping along about our lack of pressing and lazy attitude for 2 years.

4.) 14 Mar 2018 07:57:37
This is because we don't press, it isn't part of the strategy. We hold position, and pressing distorts the overall unit, it's almost like zonal marking. We hold position to minimise space, and wait for an error.

The only excuse I cam find is that jose doesn't trust the defence, but given his history I don't buy it, this is how he sets up a team.

A long time passive reader, becoming active to vent some realism.

Man Utd has fans all over the world because of one single point- Slick and Swag football! period.

We have been living in denial that we have been doss after Sir Alex retired and have splashed huge cash, yet there is hardly any signs of the swagger football.

You do a close scrutiny of the manager, the lack of passion and bunch of primmadonnas etc. But when you take a step back and ask yourselves 'why do you watch football and Manchester United? ', the answer seems redundant.

The team's 1st responsibility is to entertain, which they have failed from a long time.

This simple concept first needs to be inculcated in the team from the utmost highest authorities. I don't care how they achieve it- spend money, get sterling players, managers, tactics etc, But high time they did this- else days will come when people will stop watching the matches because they fall asleep in the couch while watching the same since it defeats the purpose of entertainment.

Always remember, the first testament for any sports is to provide the entertainment- which Man Utd is really lacking from last 5 years.

PS: This is not a knockback of yesterday's defeat, just has been feeling the same from a long time.

Very true post. since many years. exictment is gone. Earlier I couldn't bare a draw, now I digest even a defeat. earlier I don't miss watching a match and now if I miss it by any chance I don't feel a big loss. earlier if there is defeat my temper is too bad to kick anyone. now I feel all normal.

So ironically. Moyes, LVG and Now Jose has done a good job for fans mental development.

But I guess we were batter spoilt.

Here in asia i have stopped watching matches after midnight. watching our games have become a chore. Going to pubs and sports bars has also stopped, lucky we have a huge fanbase.

Surz,

Yes the good Football helped get the fans but I think winnings things is what ultimately got the fans in. The most successful teams are the ones that people in other countries follow, this is why Liverpool have a lot of fans from the 80s and United from the 90s, the good Football was a bonus that we became spoilt with.

I didn’t think the game yesterday was particularly boring, we had the chances, there were 23 shots in the game, we had one cleared off the line and a couple of great saves from the keeper. If Sanchez puts the chance away (which he should have done) and we win nobody is moaning about it being boring in my opinion.

Sanchez is an absolute pleasure to watch, some of his skill and ball control is spectacular, as it stands the results haven’t quite improved with him in the team but I have no doubt they will.

Well said GDS 👍👏.

GDS2,

Did I complain about the Newcastle game in particular?
When did I complain or stand on the slating bandwagon because our team lost yesterday?

As you mentioned- yesterday's wasn't "particularly" boring- shows the distance we have fallen from the tree.

The only point which I want to emphasize is united is winning ugly most of the times without any attacking slick football.

I am a die hard UTD fan, but there is just no sense of any excitement anymore.

About the game: you mention Martial and Sanchez converting their chances and the two goal line clearences-

Don't you agree it was all defense and then long ball and then some individual skill of Lukaku or Sanchez to get the ball to test the opposition goal? This has been the case for half of our matches, Mind you- we do win, but then hardly handful of them which we really enjoyed, while you watch games of City, Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal (to some extent) and enjoy the matches every single time whatever is the result.

We I feel are lacking purpose and are senseless about what we want to be with our future model.

If you're fine with the manner of football United is playing, then absolutely no point of mine continuing this banter.

May be i have my rose tinted glasses on!

Definitely one of the softest of pens, but on a side note, when a player nutmegs opponent and runs into his body and falls, doesn't that count as a foul even if there is no intention of malice there? and if it happens in the box, then it is a penalty. My point is intent which disturbs the direction in general is under the Refs purview to make a decision. It can be affirmed with Baily's case last week as well, where it hit him in his deltoids, yet was given.

Can't this be a case of the same yesterday? When fernandes does a 360, the ball isn't available to Konsa, but his foot doesn't allow Fernandes to place his foot on the ground and thus disbalances him and obviously knowing where he is, he does play acting (who doesn't when there is a chance of penalty? )

So, no way its a foul committed by Fernandes for me. Now, i have been skeptical of VAR always and feel many tiniest margin decisions have gone in favour of big teams always (it was the same case yesterday as well), But atleast it provides some avenue of turning earlier blatant calls made by refs in the games.

Although a long way to go, it is still a positive direction football moved into.

Our midfield is crying out for a player like Kante.

We need a sly little fox in the mid field centre of 4-3-3 controlling the play with the quick triangle passes and then running at pace when required such as Modric, Veratti changing the game.

That single guy will solve half of our team's problem imho.
Pretty sure there are multiple available talents we can sign.

Ditto.

I had mentioned the same a week back and was shot down by GDS 2.

For God's sake, Can people hyping up the red team and take their finger our of the arses and agree that 5 years have passed by and we still look new born.

Players of caliber in ranks of Sanchez, Pogba, Lukaku and we still suck big time.

What I saw and want to summarize for the last 3 games (Newcastle, Huddersfield, Sevilla) - Defend like crazy, get outplayed in mddle as if we don't have a mid field, then a long pass, crazy individual skill/ dribble of front 3 and if (a big if) you' re lucky, get a couple goal and a win (Points! all the regulars here worry about), else lose or draw (De Gea is a superman in goal) .

Absolutely bonkers, how people can defend this football and mention about the table and how tough the UCL away matches are is beyond me.

Hate to say it, the only reason I did not fail to sleep (Belong to India, match at 01.15 AM) was watching De Gea and their so called average player's making moves (proper football ones) .
