It sounds like the Morata deal is happening. I think he will be a good addition. He is young, mobile, technical, intelligent, has good size, and has performed well at both Juventus and Real Madrid.

1.) 09 Jun 2017 13:55:06
225 k a week being reported. saying belotti asked for griezeman salary of 300k . maybe tabloid nonsense.

Timing of the Morata news if confirmed might take some of the sting out of Ibra moving on for some people if its announced -

Dont know much about Morata or Belotti to be honest.

My choice would be amyadingdong but that's not likely, only as I've been impressed with him each time I've seen him -some say he is a flaky character though.

2.) 09 Jun 2017 14:09:59
I seem to get the feeling we're in for both of them not just one or the other.

Has Morata been known to play out wide or is he just a central striker?

3.) 09 Jun 2017 14:13:13
Is there a sting from Zlatan moving on? He is injured until the new year and slowed down our attack all year, he had a good season for us goals wise but we would be absolutely mad to give him a new deal IMO.

4.) 09 Jun 2017 14:23:52
Dave, I would love it if United went for both the players, but I don't think that would happen. What makes you say that?

5.) 09 Jun 2017 14:43:32
Hi. not been on here for ages, Still a few that I recognise.
I just wanted to agree with GDS2.
I can't fault Ibra for the season he had but I felt he did slow our attack down a lot of the time.
I also think he's a very big personality in the dressing room and noticed that he was pulling rank over players when taking free kicks and penalties.
He's not going to be fit until the new year and it makes no sense paying someone 300 grand a week for the remainder of that season. Definitely time to move him on now
In my opinion we need a top centre forward, a top central defensive midfielder so the shackles can be taken off Pogba and let him get forward more.
We also need another centre back.

6.) 09 Jun 2017 14:47:41

Nothing really just a feeling. There's some reports stating Morata is close and ed002 has said we have a 3rd party involved in trying to secure a deal for belotti

So 2+2 = 5 probably 😂.

7.) 09 Jun 2017 14:52:46
No sting from me GDS2,but I saw more than a few on here yesterday saying he still had a part to play - i say thank you and get him off wage bill.

8.) 09 Jun 2017 14:59:53
I'm not one for worrying about the money the club spends but around £70m for a player who was worth £26m only 12 months ago and has sat on the bench since, seems ridiculous.

9.) 09 Jun 2017 15:12:19
Makes sense to go for 2 forwards with Ibra leaving. A replacement for him plus one more.

10.) 09 Jun 2017 15:20:12
Hahah! Yeah. I thought maybe you knew something that none of us did.

I hope we do get them both. It would be quite a solid front line.

Love the math! :D.

11.) 09 Jun 2017 15:25:32
I've seen a few reports that we're in for both. Seems a bit odd but with Zlatan and Rooney both seemingly off, it would do no harm in having 2 new forwards come in.
Belotti is an out and out no.9 but Morata has a bit more to his game so not identical signings.

12.) 09 Jun 2017 16:48:47
I'd prefer the one. Simply because I believe it means more playing time for rash. Unless Jose is looking for a different formation where both belotti and morata play together. But I can't see that happening.

13.) 09 Jun 2017 17:52:30
Welcome back Simo, love when some familiar names from the past come back on here, hope all is well. I remember we didn't agree on much in the past, a rest must have done you some good ;)

I wouldn't mind if we signed both Belotti and Morata if that is even an option. If we are losing zlatan and Rooney then no reason why we don't replace both of them and they are 2 players who could be brilliant for us.

Wasn't many of us moaning in 99 when we had Yorke, Cole, Solskjaer and Teddy, I wouldn't be moaning if our striker options turned out to be Morata, Rashford, Belotti and Martial, we have plenty of games to rotate. Not saying it will happen but it wouldn't annoy me if it did. Obviously not at the expense of other positions we need though, so I am guessing it will be one or the other.

14.) 09 Jun 2017 17:53:36
Welcome back simo👍
Id rather sign morata and buy greizman in jan.

15.) 09 Jun 2017 18:48:23
i wouldn't rule out a short contract if Zlatan can get fit by January 2018.

16.) 09 Jun 2017 18:54:31
Zidaniel, he has good size. 🙄.

17.) 09 Jun 2017 19:12:50
Exactly right the more we have to choose from the better. Rashford started lots of games last season and his goal return was not amazing.
Lots of potential and talent but we can't wait forever for him to be the player we require.

I remember once somebody saying what a great player Cleverly will become! There are many more to add to that list but no point as we all know who they are.
Just saying that Manchester United should not be sitting by hoping youngsters come good while other teams take the top players on and win the awards.

For the record i love Rashford and would be absolutley delighted if he scored a shitload next season and became a top player.

18.) 09 Jun 2017 21:50:43
Get them both in and switch to a diamond 442. Enough game time for them and Rashford to play upfront.

19.) 10 Jun 2017 12:05:45
To be honest, it is not surprising that Man United released Zlatan at the moment. However, when he is fit, I would not rule out Zlatan getting a contract like Valdes.

20.) 11 Jun 2017 12:25:56

Morata was worth a lot more than 25 mil mate even last year and you confuse a buyback clause to market value. He is mobile, really smart with his runs, good finisher and can set up goals and 24 years old. In this market very hard to get strikers like that. hope we get it done early.

Lukaku at 90 is what i don't want us to ever go near. Hope Chelsea buys him as it is a poor mans version of Costa at double the price :)

13 May 2017 21:16:45
Ronnie, it looks like your man Youri Tlielemans will be signing for Monaco. He was impressive in our home and away vs Anderlecht. Hope you will be alright ;)

1.) 15 May 2017 12:37:59

I know, I saw the news and was gutted!

Prob best for him though as the prem league would to tough ever though he is superb!

Few years, Monaco will make a pretty buck on him!

2.) 15 May 2017 23:19:11
Yes Ronnie, Tielemans did impress in our Europa games. He was skillful and confident, unafraid of the occasion. Maybe this will turn out well for us at Man Utd, if Monaco now may be more open to selling Fabinho.

02 Jun 2016 02:26:30
Reports are out that we are in contact with Bordeaux over their young winger Adam Ounas. He looks very talented from what I have seen, 19 yr old left-footer, nice touch on the ball, very good dribbler and passer. I like the looks of him as a prospect for the right wing.

1.) 02 Jun 2016 17:34:03
I had been watching the lad on tv, and thought, this lads got something here? The only thing I would say, he can be thrown off ball alittle too easily and would need some balking yo to do? Mind you, at 19, plenty of time?

2.) 02 Jun 2016 19:37:46
He seems a decent talent Ronnie but we already have lots of young potential in the team mate. We need a couple of reliable experienced players up there.

3.) 03 Jun 2016 13:43:35
I agree Redfaith but maybe I'm a dreamer in the fact that buy the right players, if they are good enough, they will gel!

Bringing in these players NOW will lay foundations for years to come?

15 Aug 2014 12:58:35
Cuadrado is left out of the Fiorentina squad for tomorrow's friendly against Real Madrid. So surely he is leaving, now the question is where? I am not convinced that Barca have moved on, but still hopeful he will join us.

{Ed002's Note - Don't be surprised by another option being available to him.}

1.) Ed, who is the other option? Is it BM again? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It will unfurl in the coming days and is dependent on a meeting in Warsaw this evening, and a couple of other players departing the club. It is going to be a busy couple of weeks.}

2.) I think the other team is Barca?

3.) Why in Warsaw Ed? Obv its nothing to do with Man Utd.

{Ed002's Note - That is where the people involved will be. If they were to be in Paris, then the meeting would be in Paris. If they were in Moscow, then the meeting would be in Moscow. You really should be able to come to grips with this without my help.}

4.) ED2. Do you think Beaky was right in the post I sent earlier (tuesday morn)?

{Ed002's Note - Speaking in tongues doesn't help. Due to circumstances and Abdelaziz Barrada, I recall my plans were disrupted and Ispent that morning morning in a business lounge at Vigo airport, then went to Barcelona, where I sat in the BA Executive lounge until I could get a flight back to England. I have no idea what you were up to.}

5.) Okay eds won't ask who the other team is.

However when you said depends on players leaving the club, did you mean Man Utd? or the unnamed club?

{Ed002's Note - Nothing to do with MU.}

6.) MS, there's another club that the Ed is referring to. I could be drastically wrong here, but I think the Schurrle out, Cuadrado in rumours may have had some legs.

7.) Chelsea need to release a foreigner, not swap one. That's why schurle may leave.

8.) I heard the other club involved is Chelsea would be just like them to sign him just because we want him haha they did it to spurs last year

9.) We're not going to sign anyone are we. We take far too long and leave it too late. Biggest club in the world? Not on the pitch by a long way.

10.) Chelsea

11.) I think, Sydney, that Chelsea need to loose one foreign player so its probably not them.
Could be Real Madrid if they manage to get PSG to buy Di Marie.

12.) The meeting is in Warsaw because Fiorentina play Real Madrid there tomorrow. Expect it will be Chelski or BM meeting with them.

13.) Syd, I think you're spot on there.

Atletico are going to have some team next year.

Especially if they can get reus.

Their Phoenix may not have finished rising just yet.

14.) I think the Ed meant that Real Madrid is the other team, considering they will play Fiorentina in Warsaw.

15.) Suspect other club will be PSG who have to juggle players around to conform to FFP.

Wonder who would be leaving PSG though? Cavani?

16.) It's Chelsea and unlike us they do not faf about they get the job done.
It's ok saying Chelsea pinch all the players that we are after but this transfer should of been done and dusted by now if LVG wanted him that badly.
Man United only have themselves to blame if they loose out on another target.
I wonder what will happen to Woodward if he fails again this transfer window, surely this can't go on?

17.) I don't think you need to worry about Chelsea with this one. There is absolutely NO way I see Schurrle leaving. He's a fan favourite and Mourinho likes him very much as well. So don't worry about us ;-)

18.) Looking at RM's right-side reinforcements and there isn't really any. Just Ramos that I can see so I guess RM could be interested in Cuadrado.

19.) Simmo, it looked like MU were making big strides trying to sign Cuadrado, but then Di Maria became available again. MU are trying to do a deal for Di Maria, so I guess the Cuadrado talks have stalled somewhat? What would be frustrating is if we end up missing out on both when we could have had potentially Cuadrado signed by now.

20.) 15 Aug 2014 17:18:42
Rather have cuadrado. Surely woody should be moved back to commercial and we bring in a dedicated transfer person.

21.) Surely an option could be that he stays at Fiorentina, no?

22.) Cuadrado is suspended that's why he's out of the squad

Top four race:
We are on 64 points, can finish with 73. The Chelsea game this weekend is paramount. The last two we should win.

But then we will still need help. Chelsea are on 67 points, if we beat them, they can still get 73 and beat us on goal differential. So we will need Chelsea to draw or lose either game to Watford or Leicester City, both tough opponents. And they play two games vs Eintracht Frankfurt in Europe. So with Chelsea there seems a good chance for us.

Then we still need Arsenal to falter. They are on 66 points. Besides playing Valencia twice in Europe, they will play Leicester, Brighton Hove, and Burnley. Two wins and a draw and they will also beat us on goal differential. So we need an Arsenal loss.

So this Sunday looks massive. Arsenal vs Leicester and Chelsea coming to Old Trafford.

1.) 25 Apr 2019 19:42:01
Leicester, Watford and Burnley can give anyone a tough game. I wouldn't want to have to win against any of them.

I would be very surprised if Chelsea and Arsenal don't drop points against at least one of them.

The tricky thing is can we win our last three games. Chelsea on paper looks the toughest game. Yet both Huddersfield and Cardiff are relegation threatened. They will be fighting for their lives. If we don't match that desire then we will struggle against both of them.

On paper our run in looks slightly easier. Yet we have shown time and again that we can screw it up. There will be twists and turns yet. I still expect one of City or Liverpool to have a shock result which could change the direction the title heads in.

2.) 25 Apr 2019 19:53:24
I’d be surprised if we picked up any points before the end of the season with the way we’re playing.

3.) 25 Apr 2019 21:53:42
Huddersfield will be glad to hear they are only relegation ‘threatened’ Shappy. They are 20 points off safely with 3 games left, we would have to be pretty terrible there to not win. 3 wins and we will get top 4 in my opinion, we could even catch the goal difference up with a couple of big wins. Sunday is massive, lose and the season is over, win and it’s game on. With 2 penalties in the last 4 our only goals I would be tempted to think we will lose on Sunday but let’s get behind the lads and see if we can save this season.

4.) 25 Apr 2019 22:33:29
We’ve won the league with 79 points before haven’t we 😂.

5.) 25 Apr 2019 22:58:35
I don't think we will all 3 either.

To win games you need to score and we don't have players that can put the ball in the back of the net, it feels like they alergic to the goal.

6.) 25 Apr 2019 23:09:01
Gds catch up the goal diff 😂😂😂😂

Chelsea might play for the draw that just might just suit us.

{Ed002's Note - I would very much doubt that - a draw won't help Chelsea.}

7.) 26 Apr 2019 07:14:52
Top 4 is gone.

Reality still hasn't set in for some.

8.) 26 Apr 2019 08:24:03
Ken- it is not likely on current form, but a 4-0 win moves us above chelsea on goals scored. The same GD.

9.) 26 Apr 2019 13:20:09
Top 4 was gone in January. Now we have a chance, albeit remote. i'd have taken that in January.

10.) 27 Apr 2019 04:40:35
Not long ago we had title winning form. Now we lose a series of games in a row and everyone is disposable. Truth is, we are somewhere in between.

Most interesting story for us for the rest of the season is who will be in Ole's plans after the summer?

I don't think Martial suits his desire for high press. Neither does Mata or matic.

I'm convinced he wants a new CB to partner Lidelof.

I suspect he is duey eyed over pogba, but maybe better if he is traded away out of his control. IF (and it is a big if) we can find a good replacement.

DDG is not playing at a level that warrants a world record fee. Madness if we give him that.

19 Apr 2019 15:43:19
Mourinho quote about the Barcelona game:
"Lots of mistakes, lots of goals with awful defending on the inside foot. You look to Coutinho goal, even to Messi goal. " How would you explain what he means about the inside foot? I take it as a failure to force the player wide, but it's a phrase I have never heard. Does your inside foot mean your foot closer to the middle of the pitch? I want to hear how any of you might explain it.

1.) 19 Apr 2019 16:24:16
Showing the player inside, English isn’t his first language, but it seems fairly clear to me.

2.) 19 Apr 2019 16:27:21
Cutting inside.

3.) 19 Apr 2019 17:38:45
I agree with you zidaniel. I think that's what he means . They allowed him to cut in towards goal instead of forcing home wide.
In fairness messi does that just about every week and against every team he plays against. The theory is good but against messi its only theory because he can do what he wants he is that good.

4.) 19 Apr 2019 17:57:13
Jose said you need to put messi in a cage which is probably true .
Possibly the greatest of all time, though call between him and Maradona.

5.) 19 Apr 2019 19:58:49
Pele first. Cruyff second. Maradona third.

6.) 19 Apr 2019 20:37:23
Cough cough. Georgie Best. cough cough.

7.) 19 Apr 2019 21:16:55
No one better AJH.

8.) 19 Apr 2019 23:13:33
I'm glad someone remembered, Tony. :)

10 Mar 2019 00:38:04
If you haven't seen it yet, on the club website, Fletch has an account of the 4-2 win at Highbury, the one where Keane and Vieira went at it in the tunnel. Fletch really gets into the mindset of a player in a game of such magnitude. He was such a dedicated player for the club.
His insight into what motivates a team player was very inspiring. Well worth a read before the match later.

1.) 10 Mar 2019 01:31:35
It's good isn't it. This fixture thrown up some incredible battles in the EPL years. Last year was one of my favourite games of the mourinho era.

It's a massive game. There will be many twists and turns to come yet, but winning tomorrow will be a big statement from either team. I hope the squad take some of that Keano spirit into the game tomorrow and look to dominate their opposite number.

06 Mar 2019 22:31:24
What a glorious European night. I'm thrilled for Lukaku and Rashford to come up big when it counted. Lukaku has endured a lot of criticism and now look at him the last three games. And Marcus Rashford, imagine Gianluigi Buffon looking at you with the game on the line. What a moment for the young man.

A word too for the defense. Lindelof was solid again, Smalling and Young came up with some very big stops, and Shaw was the one player more than any other that drove the team in the final minutes. As well as De Gea stopping Mbappe's breakaway with Smalling.

This evening will have been an unforgettable experience for the youngsters - McTominay, Pereira, Dalot and especially Chong and Greenwood. Just being on the pitch to be part of that moment when Rashford scores and to give every ounce they had until the final whistle.

Hats off to Ole and Phelan, Carrick, and McKenna. We have seen player after player playing with confidence again. Bot tonight was another level. They have the players playing with enormous pride again in playing for Manchester United. And what a gift to all of us fans.

1.) 06 Mar 2019 23:11:13
Spot on mate. Good post.

2.) 07 Mar 2019 04:34:35
Shaw seems to have limitless energy at the moment.
He deserves rest in the next few games.

3.) 07 Mar 2019 04:39:12
Well said Zidaniel.

02 Mar 2019 20:02:22
Wild game today, with 5 excellent goals, great to see Lukaku come through with the winner. The lads showed a lot of character today. Ole and the staff deserve huge credit for the giving the players confidence and second chances as well.

Think of Pereira. He cost us dearly a few weeks ago, and today Ole gives him a chance, and what a hit he comes up with. However his future goes, he will have that great memory of his first goal, and you could see it meant the world to him today.

McTominay as well has come in and put in a few solid performances. Nothing dynamic, but he has done his job and battled for 90 minutes.

And what a day for Romelu Lukaku. I admit to being frustrated with him quite often, but he has kept working, and has really come up big with two well taken goals today. And the last few all with the right foot. Thanks to Lukaku, we have pounced on our opportunity today, and go into PSG with confidence and and in a good position for the Arsenal match next Sunday.

1.) 02 Mar 2019 20:41:21
Even if we don't go through on Wednesday it's all about the performance to go into the game against arsenal.

Just have a go and give it everything we have
3 points off 3rd place was a dream not so long ago.

Ole at the wheeeeeeeeeeellllll.

2.) 02 Mar 2019 21:25:24
Great post Zidaniel.

I almost wish we didn’t have the game on Wednesday and could prepare for Arsenal next.

3.) 02 Mar 2019 21:25:24
Great post Zidaniel.

I almost wish we didn’t have the game on Wednesday and could prepare for Arsenal next.

4.) 03 Mar 2019 04:43:23
I really love the part about the manager not throwing the players under the bus.
Lukaku struggled, he kept saying he's a better play.
Andreas struggled, he kept saying he's doing very well in training.
Fred was said to be not good enough and he came and got an assist in the last few minutes.

Ole is getting so much out of the players and the squad bar Sanchez.

5.) 04 Mar 2019 06:03:43
After a long time, we scored a long range screamer.
Watched the goal almost 100 times already :)

If Fernandes comes in, would that mean Pogba is closer to leaving?

Thanks Ed001. I find McTominay outstanding in his attitude, but technically, a player who mostly keeps it simple. But I must admit, he has grown as a player with more minutes. I will have to research some more on Longstaff.

{Ed001's Note - he is worth watching, he is growing as a player as well. Shame he got injured when he did.}

What kind of midfielder is Longstaff? Haven't had the chance to watch his this season.

{Ed001's Note - very similar to McTominay, tall, leggy but not quite settled into a role and could play a number of them.}

I like Shappy's idea of the 3-4-1-2. I admit that Martial does have the talent and could thrive if he played with Rashford. Would Lukaku want to stay as 3rd choice? Not sure. This setup would allow Greenwood to get more minutes as well.

Lingard would be a natural in the #10 position. It would take advantage of his greatest quality, which is movement off the ball. But I think we need someone more explosive and dangerous on the ball. Someone that can run with the ball and ride some tackles. Bruno Fernandes might fit very well there.

Keep Rashford, sell Martial, who is lazy and sulks whenever he or the team faces adversity.

The days of the quartet are over, with the 4-3-3 more prominent. If Lukaku and Sanchez go, my guess will be Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Mata, Greenwood, plus one more.

He never played on the right when he was here. And I don't think such a media conscious player is what we need right now. It is enough of a problem already.

4-3-3 would be the simplest option. As for three in the back, we barely have one center back who is consistent in Lindelof, let alone three. That said, Dalot would be an ideal wingback.

Joao Felix looks very impressive, from what I have seen of him. A Portuguese friend of mine told me he reminds him of Rui Costa. Seems like a skillful and clever player, who has a good frame that he will grow into. But I am guessing he will go to Atletico Madrid, or else stay put for another year.

As True Red said, if we get a good defensive mid behind Pogba, it will help tremendously. Hope he stays.

I hope we get Wan Bissaka at right back, and Dalot rotates in at LB and RB. Young as 4th choice for next year.

I know that many would like to see half the squad shipped out. But if two leave from the back, Rojo and Darmian, two from the middle, Fellaini and Herrera, and two from the front, Sanchez and Lukaku, that is all we can expect in one summer.

I have a hard time believing this one. I have heard great things about Gomes, and the idea of a loan makes sense to where he can gain experience.
