There have been rumours for a few days that Kevin, one of the Glazers was selling up, that he had swapped his B voting shares for A shares. I was told a couple of days ago the B shares can't be sold. Now there are reports in the main press that Kevin Glazer has transferred his 13% to A shares and is looking to sell. According to the press several others want to sell up too. Hopefully it is the beginning of the end of them, although it is said two of the family don't want to sell.

So how does this work then? If the individual share holders sell up and shares are sold on the stock market, how will that change anything in the future? Won't the shareholders just keep getting dividends? How is that any different to how it is now?

Ed02

Thomas Muller is potentially available in January, I know you have already given an transfer update but do you think the club may look at taking him? .

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Thomas Muller (F) is miffed because he has been on the bench but Bayern Munich will not sell him without a replacement and there is nothing to indicate that he will be available in January. And why would Manchester United want him?}

09 Oct 2019 13:44:19
I asked my self the same question, but then I thought they will be desperate and probably pick the wrong deal.

I'm not sure if he has the ability to make any sort of impact in the premiership.

Hi Ed002, I recall you saying doing transfer business in January is much more difficult and may cost clubs a lot more to get certain players.

With recent reports from the BBC that the club will try to invest in Jan, do you know of what our plans may be? Or do you think this is the club trying to keep the fans on side but in reality we won't do anything.

I would love it if the club pushed to get Bruno Fernandes and a good striker in, both would be big additions to this squad and may well save Ole's season.

Weird times at the club right now, whenever we think we've finally got out of this rut, something happens which reminds us the club is still poorly run and we're not changing anytime soon. Oh how I wish we could rewind 15 years.

Believable1 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Club's don't like selling in January and it is disruptive for them. The club has no new ideas about players and they could look to Spurs to take Eric Der as a replacment for Matic. The couple of youngsters the club was really keen on will not be joining. They will look to a striker - and have looked at Moussa Dembele who may be available if the right offer is made whereas Bournemouth will not look to be selling Callum Wilson.}

08 Oct 2019 15:21:19
Ok thanks Ed.

Personally don't think Dier is a smart choice, we need more creative midfielders not another one dimensional defensive mid.

Dembele sounds like an interesting choice, he did well at Celtic from what I remember.

Glad Wilson isn't available, would cost way too much and he wouldn't offer much more than our current strikers do.

Agree1 0Disagree

08 Oct 2019 18:13:51
Personally I feel we need two midfielders, one more defensive to act as a shield in from of the defence and one more creative.

In and ideal world Declan Rice and James Maddison would be great options. But neither will be available in January and depending on how we do neither might be options next summer either.

Players available in January are few and far between and you often need to take a gamble on a player who isn't playing for his current club.

Eric Dier has his limitations but he would be an improvement on Matic in the holding role. Although he doesn't have the ceiling of a player like Rice who is arguably a better all round player now but has a lot of room for growth.

As for creative midfielders we need to know what kind of system we want to play. Do we want to persist with a 4231 type formation and look for a player who can find pockets of space to play in more akin to a No.10 or do we want a creative player who is more comfortable playing slightly deeper in a free 8 sort of role in a 433/ 4141 type formation.

If your looking at a No.10 who might be attainable in January then someone like Dani Olmo could be a good option. Whereas, if you want a creative No.8 then maybe someone like Donny van Der Been might be a good option.

Unfortunately we won't know this unless the manager situation is resolved one way or another.

Declan Rice is improving with every game.
Tenacious, ball winner and his ability on the ball is getting better and better.
But WestHam would ask for a ridiculous price.

Agree1 0Disagree

09 Oct 2019 14:37:05
West Ham fan here. £80 million isn't a ridiculous price.

He is the best English holding midfielder already. Not that I want to sell him.

Agree2 0Disagree

09 Oct 2019 17:17:48
You would have to part with the best part 100-150 million pounds for Madison and Rice. You always have to pay more for top English players and both of them are top players.

Agree1 0Disagree

10 Oct 2019 22:49:44
Declan rice is no better than mctom and is really a cb. Very limited player on the ball and is sloppy in possession in bad areas, admittedly he is only learning how to play in midfield and is making big strides but i feel He will be playing cb in 4 years time because that's what he is imo. He will be a very good one too. If pep gets him he could well turn him into a midfielder or ball playing cb.
I like Madison a lot. Very direct great in right spaces and will excel at his next club.
Van der beek is another very good player but probably madrid bound.
Olmo is predominantly a winger left or right not a ten a think a bit lightweight for the epl just yet.
Dembele is a good goal scorer i think he is better with his back to goal than martial or rashford and a good finisher.
Dier again limited on the ball but is an upgrade on matic. He actually plays deeper than matic which offensively allows the 2 cbs to split a bit wider and allows the fbs push on. What sort of price? Is he mire dependable than fred? I think so. He could well be a decent foil for mctom too.
Dembele and dier may both be available. Both would improve our squad. Neither are world class but both would walk into our tem at the moment imo.
A couple of players not spectacular but solid steady eddie's.
They won't break the bank. i'd be delighted to be honest. Our other 3 signings along with mctom look like our best players this season. So there's no reason to think that another 2 wouldn't be a significant upgrade on whoever they replace in the team.
We need 5 or 6 more steady eddie's in the team and squad. Players who produce solid consistent injury free football. Then the moments produced by the likes of rash martial pogba can be capitalised on.

Dea gea was right though we can't even score.

We have a decent defence but that's what were relying on to get us points

The midfield and attack have to step up.

Mandzuikic links resurfacing according to The Athletic. His style reminds me a bit of Sheringham.
The problem is his age -34- and also if we were interested in summer, why didn't we sign him back then?

Believable0 0Unbelievable

06 Oct 2019 11:08:08
Apparently it was too late in the transfer window for him to have time to think about the move but as he hasn't been part of Sarris squad for the season so far then he's open to it now.

06 Oct 2019 12:03:20
Ultimately I think it comes down to who is available in January.

Players who might be our first choices such as Maddison, Sancho and Moussa Dembele are unlikely to be available in January.

However, by not replacing players in the summer we are now left with a squad not good enough to compete for our ambitions this season.

Therefore, if we are to dip into the winter market to look for a solution then we will likely have to consider players who we maybe overlooked in the summer, as these are the only players who will be available.

Agree3 0Disagree

06 Oct 2019 15:42:11
Betty. I get your point mate. But we are in desperate need of experience. Even the like of maddison and sancho are very young. I don't know much about mandzucic other than he is experienced and appears to be a good professional. We could do with a couple if players of that ilk to help the younger players for 18 months or so.
The caveat is that they must be the right type of character. The likes of him or modric or rakatic are all still capable and could help bring the younger guys on.
The kids we have don't have anybody to turn on the pitch when the thing gets tough and they need that imo. Better rakatic than fred for example. Garner and mctom would learn more in a week playing with him than 18 months with fred.

The guy wants to leave, he wanted to leave two summers ago and he wanted to leave this summer just gone.

If the club are foolish enough to get into contract talks with him and his representatives then they are well within their right to pull the clubs pants down with exorbitant requests.

Let him see out this season as he's our only midfield player who can pass a football and then replace him next summer with other professional footballers who can pass a football.

Who cares what he's paid. What matters most to me is that if he does stay then he should perform.

I would just get rid of him at the earliest possible time and get a really hard working/ super talented player like SMS or Niguez to replace him.

Yeah replace Pogba with Saul Niguez.

01 Oct 2019 23:00:58
Pogba is a really good player and if he had half decent midfielders and attackers with him we would get more out of him. I don't think his attitude is anything like it should be but I can imagine his mindset. Why am I wasting the best years of my professional life with a team whose players are just not good enough to be challenging for trophies when I could be with a really top top team. If we had better players and were competing every year to win the league and champions league do you really think he would want out? I don't.

Agree1 0Disagree

02 Oct 2019 13:11:07
Pogba knew the clubs situation when he joined, the playing squad isn't dramatically different to the one he joined.

He might have wanted to move to Real Madrid or Barcelona but neither club valued him at the price being quoted.

So he had a choice, he could either stay at Juventus (a team that was winning Serie A every season and challenging in the UCL) or he could move to us, a team that hadn't challenged for the league in a few years and had even failed to qualify for the UCL twice out of the previous 4 seasons.

He chose to join us, no doubt because his agent sold him the move and the huge hike in wages.

He chose money over glory, now he saying he wants to move again to win titles. Yet I suspect he would have second thoughts if moving to Real Madrid, Barcelona or back to Juventus meant a significant drop in wages.

He wants to make as much money as he can, and fair play to him. But if that is his main motivation then he won't ever fulfil the potential he has.

Ronaldo earns huge wages, but he isn't driven by earning money. He wants to be the best and he wants to be remembered as one of the greatest of all time. He has maximised his talent. We need players who have the mentality that they want to be the best they can be, not earn the most they can.

Agree5 0Disagree

02 Oct 2019 19:45:30
Shappy I agree with you about Pogba not maximising his potential but maybe he was promised that Utd would invest in top players and that's just not happened. It's odds on he will go to a Madrid or Juve sooner rather than later and he will get wages equal to or better than he is getting at Utd.

Agree2 0Disagree

07 Oct 2019 14:09:52
Whether United invest in top players or not, if he was a top player with a good attitude he'd still put in a performance every week and show some leadership to the players around him , and maybe also tell his brother to shut up .

So the leaks begin. Apparently some players harbour reservations over Kieran McKenna having such a key role in first-team training little more than a year after being promoted from the Under 18s. His sessions are thought by some to be more suited to the academy

There are also questions why there are so many non contact injuries having supposedly used pre season to get the players into peak fitness, questions why the lethargy when they are fit, what did Phil Jones and Woodward really say despite the denials.

This isn't going to end well everyone.

I heard that Phil Jones said 'poor' unsure whether he was talking about a refereeing decision or his teammates (he should be) and Ed turned round and said 'quiet, we are on camera' that's just one story.

As for McKenna, I think the media are loving a United in crisis story so will push anything, wouldn't wprry too much on McKenna.

What I do worry about is why year after year we have so many injuries, it seems to have been every season since van Gaal, perhaps even Moyes time, I dunno if we have players nowadays more like athletes and break down easier or the stricter training we have now is too much for some, no idea.

Was thinking about Martial this morning, he is always injured, can never get a run of games out of him, and he is probably the most key player in the way Ole wants to counter attack, I see a long season of inconsistent results and performances ahead, I can live with that if we see the desire in the players, I have seen that except at west ham which worries me.

Arsenal at home next is probably the perfect fixture to get that desire back and a win wouldn't shock me, hopefully we have some players back for this one.

Saving grace at the moment is Chelsea and Spurs are having equally as bad starts and a win over the gunners keeps us on pace for 4th.

I've said it all along since they sacked Moyes and I'll say it again, we must stick by a manager, we cannot carry on chopping and changing managers, backroom teams, players and playing style, that's why we are in such a mess, it's not going to be pretty for a good while yet but the 3 lads he's brought in are the right type of player, he needs more windows to bring in more players that fits what Ole wants, it's going to take time.

I now hear 'oh we've spent £900m' yes, Ole has had 1 window, the rest is past and we are on a new path, one the club and fans must stick too.

Ole was appointed and is our manager so therefore he is the right one and we have to get behind him and the club needs to give him the funds and time to build a squad.
