Hi Ed002,

Any information about United's plans for Facundo Pellistri, Amad Diallo and Teden Mengi.

Would any of them be considered for loan to get more game time?
Ole said yesterday that Diallo is already making a difference in training.

Also are United any longer interested in Sancho after acquiring Pellistri and Diallo?

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Teden Mengi (CB) A January loan is possible. QPR have spoken with Manchester United. Pellestri may get a loan. Diallo will stay with U23s for now.}

What is the plan for Hannibal Mejbri ed? if there is any.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing at this time because of his age.}

I have to say a loan would be great if he can get into the qpr team he will gain great experience.

Hi Ed002, hope you're good.

Thanks for the Lingard update. Let's hope at least one of the 6 clubs you mentioned make him an offer. I'd despair if Utd gave him a new contract.

Any news on Jones, Rojo and Romero?

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Sergio Romero (G) out of contract with an offer from Inter Miami on the table - may look to stay in England but would not be a starter. Valencia have spoken with his agent about a pre-contract. Not keen on a return to Argentina just yet.
Phil Jones (CB) an option for Burnley if James Tarkowski leaves. Else would likely need to drop down to the Championship to find a club where he would start.
Marcos Rojo (LWB/CB) not wanted and another mess caused by the amateurs at Old Trafford – Fiorentina were interested at the start of 2020 but MU blocked the move and he ended up on loan at Estudiantes. They wanted to keep him on loan for the last year of his contract - or could have taken him for perhaps €5M spread over the season and the player wished to stay there. Another mistake by the amateurs. He is another player for which there are limitations where he could move to. Manchester United are of course not assisting and after pricing him out of a move to Estudiantes, who really only wanted another loan in any case - that would have given Manchester United a loan fee as his contract runs down. So they have been stuck with another player that has been offered around. Estudiantes remain interested but Boca Juniors are pushing to have Manchester United release him this month rather than in the summer. Cruz Azul have said they were looking at him as a CB option after being offered the player. Penerol were also offered the player and I suspect others were as well.

Hey ed thanks for the details and the f-wittery that goes on at Utd doesn't surprise me.

Any news on Youth loans?
Pellistri has been mentioned.

Surprised that romero couldn't be a starter for a Premier league club. I think he's done well for us and clubs could do a lot worse.

Ed002, I'm hearing quite a lot of chatter about United holding an interest in the young Argentine defender Facundo Medina currently of RC Lens.

With rumours of even a possible move in January for him. Personally I find that unlikely as he only moved to France from South America last July.

Do you know if United hold an interest in him, and what the view of him is in France. He's supposedly caught the eye of several well thought of French pundits and coaches.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Manchester United making an approach but ironically there is very significant interest from a number of clubs in his centre back partner, Loic Bade.}

Any truth to the rumours linking us to Robin Le Normand of Real Sociedad? Or is it just the random names linked for click bait purpose? Also is he any good? Not seen much him play.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Robin Le Normand (CB) I am not aware of any approach to Real Sociedad by Manchester United but told another interested side that he was not for sale meaning that a club would need to agree to his buy out clause to effectively make an offer. But they do money and want to keep their "prized assets" so may be open to a good offer.}

Is sign him just for the name alone. Bobby the Norman!

Are Uyd looking at bringing in any loan signings this January?

Or is the focus primarily on fringe players leaving?

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware. In what position? The focus is on clearing the decks a bit and figuring out the futures of a couple of players. They also need to start working towards looking at solutions for the summer, deciding if players can step up from the U23s, deciding if they want to try and make a major signing such as Sancho or whatever.

Thanks ED002,

Is Matas contract up at the end of the season?

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

20 Jan 2021 10:53:23
For me the best signing would be a DOF, removes the amateur status and the club can start repairing its foundations internal and external.

Just heard from a friend that we have spoken to Brentford about signing Saman Ghoddos, supposedly rated higher than Benrahma or Watkins. From what I've seen he looks to have real quality, anyone else hearing this?

It has been reported that Lingard might be moving on loan to Nice?

Is there any truth in these rumours?

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Jesse Lingard (AM) out of contract - Atletico Madrid, Roma, Newcastle, West Ham, Nice, Real Sociedad may offer options. Manchester United may offer to extend to save money on purchases.}

13 Jan 2021 22:22:33
Thanks ED002.

Glad that the club are trying to find him a nice loan. Personally, I think he’d like Villa.

20 Jan 2021 11:28:43
Mmmmm, Birmingham or Nice? Tough decision that!

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Jesse Lingard (AM) out of contract but options are reducing. Nice interest has gone as they wanted a loan in January which only works if he renews his contract for a further year. Manchester United have been informed of the situation by a third party and apparently have no interest in such a transaction. Atletico Madrid were given a report on the player that has caused them to step back. Prior interest of Roma has switched to a different player. Real Sociedad have spoken with Real Madrid about the loan of a player and they can now be discounted. That leaves options in the Premier League with Newcastle, West Ham and Sheffield United now interested. Manchester United may offer to extend to save money on purchases.}

Hello eds and reds,

There are rumours linking us with Boubakary Soumare and Romain Faivre. Not necessarily with a move this window, but more as players we have been scouting and quite like the look of these players and Max Aarons as well.

Also there are reports linking Pogba to PSG, saying that Poch is particularly intersted in working with Paul.

Any truth in these rumours?

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Boubakary Soumare (DM/CM) - Soumare is still being touted around the clubs that have money to spend and several have spoken with Lille but even with the €60M summer asking price reduced to €40M clubs are still seeing that as too high in these rather difficult times. His "agent" (and I use the term loosely) says the player has no interest in joining Spurs or Arsenal but his client is "the ideal replacement for Pogba or Kante" and is attracted by the money available to players in England. PSG, Valencia, Hertha Berlin, Leicester, Real Madrid and Napoli are others who have been looking at him on a regular basis - but price is an issue. Until the summer Manchester City had an interest since he was at PSG and it was suggested he could fill the role of Yaya Toure well. Monaco saw him as a Bakayoko replacement but stepped back. Brands wanted him at Everton but was forced down the Gbamin route by an advisor. Liverpool were also approached and have discussed the price with his agent. Newcastle were close to a deal in January 2020 and may push again the to reach an agreement with Lille. Milan see him as a good addition to their midfield but want a loan to buy deal or to give a player in exchange.

Romain Faivre (LM) arrived in Brest from Monaco reserves in the summer of 2020 and did well enough to get an extended contract and attract scouts from PSG at the behest of his agent, who has a close relationship with them. But it has gone no further as far as I know - and the general feeling is that he is OK, nothing special and has found his level with Brest.
As you know Pogba has been offered to a number of sides.}

12 Jan 2021 11:08:44
Thanks ed002. You always provide great info. If I am beng greedy, how is Soumare rated as in the game? Do you believe he would be a good option as a Pogba replacement like his representative seems to believe?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Some clubs like him. Manchester United were interested in the summer. Milan, Napoli, Newcastle ...}

Moussa dembele joins atletico, seems a simeone striker to me be good to see how he gets on. Looks like caicedo is heading to Brighton then out on loan. TFM to Bayer Leverkusen.

I wonder why Utd opted against Caicedo?

ED002 I read reports that there were a lot of intermediaries involved in this pote tial transfer, is that true?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - It is not uncommon with South American players.}

12 Jan 2021 11:02:21
Hatter, While I can't speak for the club, personally I was a little surprised by the link to Caicedo in the first place. Obviously a talented player and supposedly available for a very fair price.

Yet what United need is someone ready and able to step in and be that holding midfielder we can build the next side around. I'm not sure a 19 year old coming straight out of South America is the right person for that.

We have some depth in midfield already, with Pogba, Matic, Fred, McTominay and Donny. While we have some excellent young players of a similar age to Caicedo coming through, Garner being the obvious and most highly rated of them.

Personally I think we need that holding shielding player who can control the tempo. Saul would be ideal, Rice could be a good option as well. I think Caicedo looks better in a more box to box role, and at his age and level of experience I don't think he is ready to jump in and be first choice.

Agree1 0Disagree

12 Jan 2021 11:06:17

Saul would be ideal. It's a shame Pogba wasn't allowed to go in the summer and Saul bought in as a replacement.
