Edp02 is it true, if you know, that utd are close to agreeing new 5 year contract with Pogba? I remember you saying a few weeks back that there were no discussions in relation to this?
Thanks as always.

{Ed002's Note - I have no way of quantifying near but there has been an offer - his agent was in London earlier this week about another player and there may have been some discussion. Right now he has nowhere else to move to.}

It’s starting to make more sense by the day. Nobody can afford him right now and does he justify the kind of money we imagine United would like for his services.

It makes sense he has a couple of seasons without the pre-Fernandes pressure that was put on him. He will be around 28 prime age for his position and if he’s good enough the teams he wants to play for MAY come for him.

Just my opinion. Few lagers deep but there’s my bit

Take care all.

The reality is that this summer isn't a great time to move for a top end player like Pogba. Firstly very few teams can afford to make an acceptable offer to Man Utd. Secondly, with every side suffering a drop in revenue over the next year, clubs will be more conservative with their wage structures. For a player like Pogba the best case scenario wage wise is someone matches his current wage, but in all likelihood he would need to take a pay cut.

I think Ed001 made a great point that maybe Pogba is in the best place as he is at a club that will indulge him as a player.

Ultimately it comes down to how committed Pogba is to leaving. His choices are sign a new deal (which the club will want to offer him), this will probably be he best chance at a pay rise. Or refuse to sign a new deal and leave on a Bosman next summer.

If he signs then great, if not then the club need to make the best of the situation.

Don't know the hype around pogba, he's not even a top player and people are still thinking he has potential at 27.

He does have potential, if he stays fit and committed. We certainly haven’t seen the absolute best of Pogba at United, partly because we haven’t surrounded him with top quality players like Juventus did, and like Madrid did with Ronaldo, which allowed him to develop into one of the best ever. I think we will see far more consistency from Pogba now we have Bruno, and I think he will be more committed and intelligent in his football.
