Ed002 has there been any concrete interest shown in any of our players available for transfer?
1 lingard 2 mata 3 jones 4 dalot 5 Smalling 6 jones 7 pierera. 8 romero
Is there interest in any of the other fringe players?
Apart from smalling I've seen no other retorts of concrete interest. Which surprises me a little.

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in Romero from Aston Villa as has been explained. Smalling has been of interest to Roma and it goes on.}

Think Jesse will end up staying, Pierera will probably move on, Phil Jones seems to be with us for life.

I am pleased for both Smalling and Romero if they get these moves and it leads to them being a 1st team player. Good hardworking players, just for various reasons not worked out recently with us.
I am okay if Jesse stays as a rotational player but we could see some interest come in late for him.
Dalot, Pereira and Jones need to definitely move on, I think West Ham or Newcastle could come in for Jones who if he stays fit would be a good addition for them. Pereira i imagine will head to somewhere else in Europe and may do well in a different league. Dalot I imagine will head back to Italy, offers a decent amount going forward but not trusted by OGS so needs to move on for all parties.

Who would seriously buy jones that’s my question. his injury record is abysmal, his wages high and his level of performance average at best. Will be stuck with him until his contract expires. And to think that he’s eligible for a testimonial 🤦‍♂️.

Phil Jones was given a new contract in 2019, why?

Ole said, “Phil knows what it takes to be a Manchester United player. He has won the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League and is now one of the senior players within the team. He is coming up to his 27th birthday and entering into his prime years as a centre-half. We are delighted Phil has committed his future to the club”.

Bolger

To be fair to Ole, it was early in his time and likely he didn’t feel he had that level of authority at that time. However, do you think Ole had a say on who went on loan Smalling or Jones?

It seems a long way since the eulogy that SAF gave him.

Supposedly Ole told Smalling that Tuanzebe was to be given more chances while Maguire and Lindelof were ahead of him making him 4th or 5th choice and that a loan might be best for him.

While Jones was given a new deal by the club while Ole was temporary manager, it was a club decision in order to protect the value of an asset and keep a player they hoped the next manager would want to use.

I don't expect many of our players to leave until late in the window. The players we have who are available for transfer are so because they are either declining or not good enough at the highest level. Hardly first choice options for most clubs, especially when you consider their wages. I think most clubs will likely move for them when other options have moved elsewhere or when their agents offer them to other clubs. We will likely have to accept minimal fees or allow loan deals to move them out.

remember that red man, when he said he could become our best ever player.

theres only a few more players that need shifting.

I'm sure the contract négociations with Jones were already advanced when Ole took over, on an interim basis at the time too, so harsh to lay the blame with him on this one.

Decision time for these players; money or football?

Jones contract was given before ole was in appointed permanent manager. He was caretaker- I doubt he made the decision to hand jones a long term contract.

Smalling to Roma and Rojo to Lazio would be nice.

United need to work out a loan agreement with a club to give their fringe players game time.
