Ed002 do you happen to know if we have signed Charlie McNeill from City, and Ed01 do you happen to know how good a prospect he is?

If we have then this is another talent added to list of youth talent we have picked up this summer.

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - The plan is to sign Charlie McNeill but compensation has to be agreed.}

Was about to say the same Pog. Nice addition. We are building up some team of 16-18 year olds. Exciting 3 - 5 years ahead. If they can go in and give us 5 -6 quality first team players in that time we would have done well.

Thought I replied to this but yes rumours he can’t sign professionally until 17th birthday which is this month. City and United prefer to agree compensation, possibly circa £1m, rather than wait 2 months for a tribunal. Originally in Uniteds academy moved to City 6 years ago, scored over 600 goals. No official word but the lad has been liking United players posts on social media.

Seemingly £1,000,000 will do the trick.

Hi ED02 - thank you very much for coming back to me on this. What do you make of all of our youth signings so far, and do you happen to know of any other planned signings for the youth ranks?

Have a great day and weekend Simon.

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing more of them than they are well respected.}

The reality with youth players is if 1 or 2 make it in the first team from each youth level then you are doing well. We should aim for 4 or 5, but if we get a couple a year that would be phenomenal.

We have Rashford, McTominay, Tuanzebe and Henderson who are all 22/ 23 and came from the same youth side.

We have Greenwood, Williams, Laird, Mengi, Garner, Levitt, Chong who are all 18/ 19.

Of that 11 I can see 6 or 7 who have a chance of making as first team players, while the rest could become good squad players.

That would be a phenomenal return from our academy. While the likes of Mejbri, the three Spanish lads, the two from Sunderland and Charlie McNeil. Adds 7 more top quality young players to our academy. Which already boasts some very good young players.

We could well have 10-15 of our 25 man squad be academy graduates in 3-5 years time. Which really would be doing things the United way.

I know Charlie very well as my boy was with him at Utd before he went to City. He’s a good kid as are his family. Excellent goal scorer but lots of aspects he needs to work on. His nose was pushed out at City when they bought Delap. i'm on the fence about him but definitely worth a punt. Only went to City as they provided him with private education which Utd weren’t doing at the time for the younger lads.

The Youth signings have been great this year from what I have seen of them. They all seem held in high regard aswell. The future looks bright, we have some decent young players already. Hannibal looks like the cream of the crop, I've been impressed with him along with mengi and pugimal. Hope a couple If not all of them get some game time this season.

Personally I’m very excited to see Ethan Laird, Mengi, Mejbri, Jurado, Elanga, Hoogewerf develop. I’m hoping Levitt’s loan to Charlton helps his development alongside Garner to possibly Blackburn. Chong seems to have started well in Germany as well.

600 goals in youth team, sounds like an awesome prospect.

Pog

I read about him a couple of months ago. He started in our academy but then moved to City, scored a lot of goals for them, something in my head says 600, but now feels unappreciated at City.

Just looked now and reports say he will cost just under £1m, to stop going to a tribunal. City are said to be negotiating over various clauses in the agreement. A tribunal could drag the saga out for several months, which both clubs would be keen to avoid. City are not happy to lose him. He can’t sign professionally until he is 17 and his 17th Birthday is this month. Over the past few weeks he has been regularly ‘liking’ United posts on Instagram, those of the United’s players.

He was coveted by several significant foreign clubs. Looks like another potentially very good signing at youth level.
