Compare to ZZ.
Ex Man U defender, loved the club, SAF favourite, successful club manager, successful national manager, English speaker, available for some compensation,
Laurent Blanc is flying under the MSM radar.

Blanc as interim consideration only and then I am not sure. If he won a few games the ridiculous clamour for a permanent position would start and likely Ole mark 2. We need to learn the lessons that ex players do not always make the best choice, stop the sentimental tosh. Actually, what league is he managing in right now and how is he doing?

I don't think the interim manager should be anyone who could seriously be considered long term.

It needs to be either an in house option, an old hand who's practically retired, someone like Rangnick who'll move to another position at the club in a managerial/ structural shake up, or someone who is an international manager and able to take the job "part-time" during the season while there is no international football.

None are great options and all have at least one or two drawbacks or potential issues.

I mean would any temporary option bring their own staff or work with the coaches we have?

If they work with what we have then the question still remains about whether they are good enough.

If they bring in their own coaches then by the start of next season, with the new full time manager and his staff, that will be the third lot of coaches working with the players in less than 12 months.

{Ed002's Note - I expect Manchetser United to see how Fletcher and Carrick get on in the coming couple of weeks and maybe let them see the season out and work on Mauricio Pochettino for next summer as a background activity.}

Ed002,

Will Richard Arnold eventually take over from Woodward or has nothing been decided as of yet?

{Ed002's Note - I expect him to.}

Ed002, that's probably the most sensible course.

Although many fans will be screaming blue murder every time we lose under Fletcher/ Carrick. Which of course puts pressure on the club to find a solution quickly.

Pochettino wouldn't be my first choice, but I don't think he's a bad choice. I actually think he is better suited to the role at United than PSG. He seems more like a project manager who wants to work with and develop his players into a specific footballing vision/ style/ system. That I think fits what United need. While PSG seems to be more about getting the star players to perform at the right time in the UCL to win it. That actually seems perfectly suited to Zidane.

I suppose that's why there seems a lot of store in the Zidane to PSG and Poch to United rumours.

Maybe in February if PSG get eliminated from the UCL then maybe Pochettino will be available before the end of the season.

Ole was an interim manager who was rushed into the full time position on the back of a few positive results (probably because they looked around and there were no top managers out there who wanted to work for the incompetent anti-football soul sucking incubi who run the club) . Interim should mean interim. The appointment of an interim manager as a full time manager prior to the end of the season would basically be an admission that they don't have a plan and don't know what they're doing. Of course, just waiting for waiting's sake doesn't mean that they do know what they're doing but it does mean they might have learnt something from past mistakes. which is a step in the right direction.

Surely if we appoint someone, e. g. Blanc as an interim til the end of the season there should be some option for them to get the job on a permanent basis, i mean wwhat if for example they won the Champions League?

{Ed002's Note - LB will not be taking any interim job.}

Lots of noises coming from God knows where that Poch really wants the job. I never know if this is media speculation or people acquainted with Poch but I do seem to remember SAF being very complimentary about him before.

Aren't all managerial jobs interim?
