Rumour has it there was a barney at the Lowry Hotel last night involving Ronny, Cavani and Varane over tactics and they stormed out of the team meeting hence none of them playing today.

Nonsense.

Varane and Shaw have C.V.

Ronaldo I don't believe met up with the team at the Lowry. Certainly the rumours that he wasn't in the team started yesterday when he wasn't spotted entering the Lowry with the rest of the squad.

So it would seem that two of the three players in this "rumour" were never in the hotel at all.

Cavani would actually have to be in Manchester to be involved in this “barney”

The guy attends as many games as a the glazers do when he doesn't feel like playing.

The guy is a disgrace.

So many players need to go (for their own and United’s good) this Summer as repeatedly laid bare jyst how deep the rebuild is needed.

Past attempts have been short term fixes without a club wide direction/ philosophy that can enable managers to come/ go without having to implement new ideas.

Am hoping Rangnick helps United to implement this structure and bring in tbe right players to start doing it.

Thing is: how quickly can all these changes and need players needed be brought in?

Out of current team and based on recent performances, only De Gea, Shaw on his day, Varane, McTominay, Bruno, Sancho and Elanga are good enough.

Everyone else needs replacing, so need better:

Right back
Centre back
Holding midfielder
Central midfielder
2 x striker

Youngsters look promising but won’t be ready for another season or two (unless new manager drops the kids in at the deep end) so realistically, how much can be done this Summer?

Will depend on transfer desks also (in and out) and you’d have to hope the new manager can improve players like Rashford and Dalot.

Such a huge Summer for United:

Getting right manager

Move on Ronaldo, Cavani, Pogba, Mata, Lingard, Bailly, Jones, martial, VDB, Chong (plus more)

Bring in at least CB, DM, CM plus striker

Massive massive job that will take several transfer windows to even get the right players in/ out.

Such a massive window ahead. Arguably their most important in a decade - although it feels like they all have been.
Realistically I can see 3-4 solid signings of players who should walk into that team, consolidated by the same number of youths.

Spot on post Wallace. So many outgoings overdue its unreal and absolutely the most important summer ahead for us for decades. But I fear more than 4 signings, especially given we need world class replacements, will just be too much. can't see us in for the likes of Rice and Bellingham for midfield as their £100m or so price tags will eat up too much of the budget. And we will just repeat the same cycle if not careful of missing out on must-have targets. Don't be surprised if Van De Beek is not sold - certainly if Ten Hag comes in.

I think we will look to integrate back players like Williams and Garner for RB and DM respectively. Leaving budget for the strikers. Unbelievable to think only Elanga, who emerged but months ago, and Sancho would make the grade now in terms of attacking options.

Whoever comes in manager wise it feels like we are 3 or 4 years away now from challenging. On that basis we have to be ruthless and look at players 28 and over as being surplus to requirements.
