Here is an interesting slant on the Nunez saga. it appears that we were never really that interested in Nunez but mainly extended and played out for click bait. Now there is a surprise. Apparently United inquired, were told the price, decided because a striker wasn't the main priority it was too much so let Liverpool work away and spend silly money.
I guess this won't be the only lengthy saga we will have to endure so brace yourself for a very long window full of speculation. for the time being this page should be called . conspiracy theories are us . :-)

Yezh and pig can fly.

Its even more laugable if someone has even suggested we pretended to want him for liverpool to then get him ?

This is why we are now a meme club.

Big, I never really fancied you anyway, energy.

We were in for the player, ed002 explained this. The player preferred a move to Liverpool. He ended up at Liverpool. Simple as.

Utd wanted him for price of €60M, he went to Liverpool for €80+20M.

It always amazes me how in the know about the nitty gritty of the transfer market some of our contributors are.

Just proved we are amateur in transfer dealings. (again and again)
CF is a really needed position for us and Ed had said there is a chance Ronaldo could leave.

This is like getting dumped then saying you didn't want to be with them anyway.

I'm not that fussed that he's gone to Liverpool, poor mans haaland imo and won't set the world alight.

Poor mans Haaland? What a stupid comment.

Rd what's stupid about an opinion. He had 1 good season in his career and wveryone started raving about him. Haaland will score atleast twice as many goals then he will. I'd be shocked if he got 20 pl goals next season.

We were in for him, he would have been a good option. Spaffing that much on a striker when our midfield is conference level would be silly though so can see why we didn’t get in a bidding war.

Not sure what the big deal is here. He chose Liverpool - good luck to him (albeit not that much luck) .

I don’t think a striker is really required above a brand new midfielder, centre back and full backs. No 80m striker is going to join and sit on the bench behind Ronaldo.

I’m 100% convinced ETH will get Rashford and Martial firing and if we have some change we can get another forward player. Who knows, he might promote Amad or Pellestri?

Standard post transfer posturing. The successful club shows off the shiny new toy, the unsuccesful club claim that they were never that interested and they actually wanted something else.
Reality is that Nunes wanted champions league football, will be going to a team challenging for the title and with a manager that most players would want to play for.
To come to us we are at the start of a project, uncertainty over what the team will look like next year with a manager who I think could be great but could be held back by the club. This is just the reality of where things are.
Personally think Nunes will be successful, however at the price it was right that we did not push it.
Main striker targets will come next year where hopefully we will have CL and are another year on with Ronaldo.

There’s every chance he might hit the ground running and score a load of goals……but the fact is Ronaldo will definitely get us 20 so I’d take that for another season for now.
