I'd bring Keane into the backroom staff if I was ole and get rid of phelan, he would sort the rotten from the good apples and kick them into shape, he might be brutal but he knows how what it means to wear the shirt and wouldn't take no crap. I'd love to see muelenstien back as number 2 otherwise.

He wouldn’t, and I think the responses here are emblematic of why the club is failing.

Modern managers can’t succeed by copying Fergie, or ‘stamping their authority’ on players. That is now a relic of the past.

Top level footballers are, by and large, preened celebrities. If a manager tries to control or discipline them like Fergie did, they’ll just leave for another club. Kicking boots and the hairdryer don’t work.

Look at Pogba. A player that wanted to leave, underperformed for three seasons, the manager called a virus, and Real Madrid were still looking to sign him this summer.

The stick approach just doesn’t work. Successful managers like Klopp and Pep succeed because they use some juicy carrots - i. e. convince players to commit to their approach by playing exciting attacking football.

There’s a reason why our former players make such terrible managers, their rooted in a bye gone era, and literally trying to kick back the tide.

Is Meulensteen not a step back to the Fergie era? Something that's regularly used as a stick to beat Ole with. I did like him, but I've no idea what he's done since. I'm sure someone will enlighten me 😁.

Keane would be ideal to put the fear factor back into our great club. Pep and Klopp are both angry individuals don't let the tv interviews kid you. There will always be a place for "stamping authority "in any game that deals with lazy rich sportsmen and women. How else do you get your message across- (could you please attack Pogba-thanks very much) . Every football Manager want to rule by fear-even Roy Hodgson 😆😆.

Keane would make things far worse. He never made it as a manager because ironically the heart desire passion and sheer professionalism allied to his technical ability thst he had as a player means he cannot tolerate players not up to his standard. It needs a more sophisticated managerial approach to solve our current problems. Sure some players need calling out but others will respond better to cajoling and being inspired. The ones who are not up to scratch will have to go but there is a nice way to do that too.

Keane's type of management may not work for this generation.
Most of the players these days are spoilt, have no loyalty or commitment.
