I went back to 2014 on the BBC for a bit of research.

Ole Solskjaer presented a different vision for Cardiff compared with the defensive approach of his predecessor Malky Mackay, renowned for an unspectacular, yet effective style that gained the club promotion to the Premier League in 2013. He promised a more exciting style, but under Solskjaer the Bluebirds slipped into the Premier League's bottom three for the first time and never recovered, finishing bottom.

Solskjaer then began a big recruitment drive in the summer after relegation. Nine players came in, many of Mackay's men left, but it seemed even with so many new faces Solskjaer didn't know what his best team was. He named a different starting 11 for all of the games he oversaw this season and his tinkering was deemed to have had an adverse effect on results.

"I'm responsible and I should get better results than we've had in the first seven games, " said Solskjaer, who seems to have the ability to remain upbeat in the most trying of circumstances.

The manager may be responsible for the team but many feel the board, and particularly owner Vincent Tan, have to take some responsibility too.

"It was the wrong appointment for Cardiff and the wrong club for Solskjaer, " said former Cardiff captain Jason Perry on BBC Radio Wales. "Do we know how Cardiff City play? No.

"I think only four players played against Blackburn [in the Championship opener] that played against Middlesbrough. He picked a different back four yet again.

"If you're manager or a coach you have a central strategy and you work on that. "

That was 2014, recognise a few things?

Yeah, some posters are prepared to trawl though years worth of articles in order to find a new way to slate and degrade a club legend. How sad.

{Ed047's Note - I don’t see any slating of your club legend nor anything to degrade him.

Redman is simply pointing out your current manager is repeating the same mistakes he made before and in honesty no matter how much of an alleged legend he was as a footballer he is a hopeless manager.

I said at the time, Solsjkaer set the club back five years. We spent fortunes buying the players he wanted. He left having put the clubs squad in a terrible shape. It was bloated and completely unbalanced. I said at the time he was a terrible appointment which was made to silence fans by putting a friendly face in front of the crowds.

For God's sake shappy, red man is only pointing out what happened at Cardiff in 2014 and what's happening now, which has worrying similarities. And as LaBamba mentioned, Ole set Cardiff back 5 years.

Shappy learn to accept facts even if they don't fit your agenda, they are still facts. Unlike the bs You and Dlib were spreading with your essays about angel iniesta, Mason messi and tahith giggs and other great youngsters coming through the ranks who will help us cover our lack of depth problems, how's that reality working out by the way?

Shappy, to be fair you do the same things. Bring out useless trivia and records and stats to put forth your point.

Redman, absolutely. No wonder people call him the failed cardiff manager. 🤣🤣🤣

Everyone says that Ole knows the club and loves it but anything he or his teams have done over the past 6 months have been the anti-united of football.

The situation is different now.
More than half of our squad are in the treatment table lol.

At this point it feels like Red Man has a personal vendetta against Ole. I think most regular posters would have known who wrote that post before they got to Red Man's name at the bottom.

The fact that he is prepared to dig through 5 years worth of articles in order to find something else to slate Ole with is frankly pathetic and everything that is wrong with modern football fans. Desperate to find some sort of "evidence" that they are right. Constantly barking out the same thing.

Red man, you are a long standing poster on here and one who's opinion I have always respected. I haven't always agreed with you but always felt you argued your point well. It's clear you love the club and care for its wellbeing deeply.

Yet I feel you might need to take a step back. 90% of your posts recently have been slating a club legend, a good guy who is only trying to do his best for the club he loves. How many people in a position of power at our club do you feel are doing the best they can out of love for the club? You've called him derogatory names time and again, and all he's done to deserve it is not be a good enough manager.

I agree I don't think Ole is good enough. But I'm not going to abuse him, he is trying his best and is doing it for all the right reasons.

You could literally dig up 5 year old articles on anyone and find negative ones.

I didn't see you last December posting articles from three years previous highlighting the similarities between Manchester United's situation and the final few months of José's reign at Chelsea.

You didn't do that because you rate Jose, maybe even have some affection towards him. Yet your doing just that now to Ole, a club legend. A man who gave almost his entire career to our club, a man's who genuinely loves our club.

That's why it's sad to see, your drive, your desperation to see our club succeed have brought you to the point that you are throwing a club legend under the bus.

I have always thought what set our club apart from others are our traditional values, our affinity with those who have given so much to the club. To see long standing fans turn on our own because of their greed for success is the worst thing about our current situation.

Shappy,

I will not as you put it take a step back. You don’t control people.

I have said on here many times we learn from history and it is very relevant to learn from five years ago. Solskjaer has relegation history, Mourinho has title winning.

This isn’t about greed for success, I was supporting through every single of the 26 title lean years, this is about survival and Solskjaer is the wrong manager who relegated Cardiff and is damaging us. It’s sentimental and nostalgic to keep him on, not logical.

This is a debate that will never have a proper resolution, so why keep going on about it. There are two viewpoints, end of story. The two 'sides' are never going to agree, so why not all just agree to disagree? This argument has become as tiresome as Brexit.

Ole is out of his depth, and his time in charge will come to an end soon enough. It is obvious for all to see, but there is no need for the constant bitching and whinging about it on a personal level. His reign at Cardiff is completely irrelevant. Different time, different club and quite frankly, Cardiff City was a poisoned chalice for ANY manager at that time. Anyone was doomed to fail because issues much deeper than the manager.

On the flip side, we also need to stop all this emotional nonsense that Ole is 'one of us', and a 'club legend'. Its all bolloxology again. He is a'legend' as a player because of one goal. A great professional that the fans have huge respect and affection for as a PLAYER.
We need to separate that from Ole the manager - who is clearly not up to managing United. It was a mistake that needs to be undone, and I am sure will be soon enough. Bet even then, Ole is not the problem. Moyes was not the problem. LvG was nor even the problem.

The problems were that they were poor appointments in the first place, made by people who do not learn.

So, can we just call a truce on the whole Ole thing please people? It is getting on everyone's nerves and driving people away from the site, or at least people are not posting much because they are getting bored of the same thing over and over again.

Shappy, you can't be tellin people to stop posting.

RedMan was pointing out facts and i see you do the same withe your ling posts.

Lets not get personal here, a good poster in AJH has left so let's not drive out RedMan.

Ole has "legendary" status for his exploits on the pitch, particularly 1999- but its obvious he is lacking in experience, ideas and tactical awareness as a manager in the epl. He WAS a breathe of fresh air post JM but whoever decided to give him the full time role has made a mistake but I guess they were cautious/ uncertain as look at his contract length?
He is the manager at this time, and like or loathe it we should as fans accept that fact and support the club as we have little or no say regarding replacement or retention of the manager/ players/ staff/ teamaker. Hopefully we will get players back and a result against liverpool and kick start our season with a hope of a winning run that will see us securing CL next year with a Europa win or 4th spot.

I never said for anyone to stop posting, I merely suggested that it might be best to step back from a particular topic as we are clearly never going to agree and it's all starting to get out of hand.

When people start making it personal and calling a club legend derogatory names then it's getting out of hand.

Unfortunately for me the site has become more like a pessimist anonymous meeting where all positivity must be stamped out and you're only allow to be miserable and down beat. It's become toxic.

I don't know about you guys, but I watch and engage with football for enjoyment. Sadly what is on the pitch is limited at the moment. However, we can't change that. But we can choose to talk about more positive aspects of focus on those and try and find something to enjoy about our club.

Either way I don't come on here for this, I come on here to chat about aspect we enjoy about our club and for some good natured banter.

With that in short supply I think it's time I take a break from the site.

All the best guys.
