Oh my god, this whole Pogba/ Souness thing is as ridiculous as it is hilarious.

We all know Souness doesn't like Pogba, which considering their personalities isn't very surprising.

Souness has on multiple occasions this season managed to criticise Pogba while Pogba hasn't even been on the pitch as he has been out injured. To keep bringing him up it seems almost an obsession at this point.

Which is what makes this whole thing hilarious.

I'm not one of Pogba's supporters, and personally I think he could be a better player than he is if he focused more on football.

Yet his response to being asked what he thought of Souness's criticisms is pretty much exactly what I would want to see from any player.

He stated that he is more interested in the football than the opinions of the football. Correct answer Paul.

He also had a cheeky dig at Souness by saying he didn't know who he was, just that he heard he was a great player.

So he actually complemented Souness, and was probably factual in saying he didn't know who he was.
Paul is French, he grew up in Paris and was born TWO years after Souness retired. By the time Paul would have been 5-6 years old and old enough to start having memories of footballers, Souness would have retired 7-8 years previously.

A little cheeky, but said with a smile and a complement and it was probably true.

To see how it has triggered Souness though is as I have said previously both hilarious and ridiculous. A man of 66 who has had a great career shouldn't be so easily wound up by a young man like Pogba.

His comment about slapping your medals down on the table seems a little foolish when you count them all up and realise that Pogba has 11 top honours (league titles, European titles, league cups and association cups) . Which when you consider Souness was 38 when he retired 11 years older than Pogba is now. I think most people would imagine that if Pogba played on until he was 38 he would be likely to win more than 3 more top honours. Plus Paul has won the World cup, the biggest honour and the one 99% of players would swap any other title they won for.

It's so silly, the whole tit for tat, but in this case I think Souness has come off looking much worse, and he should be grown up enough not to get drawn in to such silliness.

Well Souness is a pundit and his job is to raise hell with the players. If there's anyone who should not get involved it is Pogba.

Having said that though, his persistent attacks on Pogba are really hard to justify and its hard to blame pobga when he says one thing to a thousand things that Souness has said. Tbh he comes across as being almost bitter. In any case i suspect Pogba is going to have a hell of a lot more trophies by the time he retires.

i do not like souness but you can not criticize. when he played for that liverpool side he always gave 110per cent. its a pity pogba can not say the same.

Any of you actually listened to the podcast? It was pretty good as have a lot of the podcasts been that they have done, especially with the ex players, some wonderful stories. The souness thing was a throwaway line, he said he didn’t know who David May was either, it wasn’t disrespectful and if it wasn’t pogba nobody would care.

Also if there was actually football to watch people wouldn’t even be talking about it. I listened to the interview and there was loads of positives and great things they could have talked about, it just shows the media bias against him when the only thing they report was a nothing comment that wasn’t in any way offensive. Have a listen guys, if anything good comes from this it’s that more people realise there’s a decent official podcast.

Shappy you said
"Yet his response to being asked what he thought of Souness's criticisms is pretty much exactly what I would want to see from any player. "

Surely you'd want to see Pogba respond to any criticisms by proving him wrong with performances on the pitch. Not by these silly interviews to boost the profile of Pogba Plc.

Pogba has WC he’s already surpassed Souness.

Souness is a club legend he doesn’t live on in anyone’s minds but his own.

Triggered Souness? Come on! He didn't bring Pogba up, he was asked about Pogba's comments by Gary Neville and gave an answer. I suspect if he hadn't answered Neville's question you would have read something into that aswell.

Thunderbird Souness complained about pogba's attitude and style of play commenting on a match vs westham where mctominay and matic got outworked and pogba wasn't even in the squad, the man has been obsessed with pogba to an unhealthy degree for a long time, he talks about pogba when pogba isn't even in the squad.

The backpass specialist has been whining about pogba for years now, this is the first time pogba has talked about him and there was little controversial in what pogba said.

The backpass specialist's reply was look at my medals, but he isn't triggered, sure mate, sure.

Why should the pundits be able to say what they want with no reply? Pogba has been quiet for a long time and probably never saw the guy play anyway. And souness' reply of put your medals on the table, has he seen pogbas collection?
Youth world cup
World cup
Serie A titles x 4
Coppa Italia x 2
Europa league
League cup
Not bad for a guy who is 27 years old.
