A good read that is. It always amazes me how you manage to settle on the ten, because when I try it; i'd be on the 9th and then remember 2 or 3 that should be on the list.
From your summation, permit me to ask a few questions;
1. Do you think that Utd could be better of trying to sign Chiesa, Neres, Traore or Sarr instead of Sancho? Especially when we take in consideration their cost and ability to 'make it' at Utd in the EPL?
2. Was it difficult for you to leave out Berardi and Ferran Torres?
3. Do you think Arsenal's Pepe will come good?

{Ed001's Note - I used to do that, now I just pick out all the players that play in that position that I can find, in major leagues. I whittle out all the ones I haven't seen play, which tends to leave only a limited number to pick from. Then I go through and weed out those who I feel play another position to a higher level. Often I am then down to only about 10 or 11 anyway that are even worth considering!

1. Yes, I think the cost of Sancho is prohibitive and makes him unviable as a signing right now.

2. Berardi yes but I have not sat and watched Ferran Torres. Seen his team play, but to watch other players, and he never caught my eye so not a problem leaving him out.

3. Not to the level they were hoping for no. He will doubtless improve as he gets used to the league, but he is simply not top class.}

Hi ed. Why do you think so many right footed players tend to want to play on the left? There seems to be a shortage of quality right wingers these days.

{Ed001's Note - the fashion is for widemen to cut in to the edge of the box and shoot, rather than going to the byline and crossing. Teams don't tend to put enough bodies in the box for crosses to work, as a rule, until the full-backs get forward, when the widemen get in the box to supplement the lone striker. In the days when there were two strikers, you could put crosses in with a decent chance of success. With one striker, you need others to get in there or the cross has to be precise.}

Sorry I clicked send too soon and never finished.

It is all about maintaining possession to look for higher quality chances, rather than hopeful crosses. Liverpool showed this season that there is still a value in putting crosses in early and getting bodies into the box though, so maybe things will change over the next few seasons. It does tend to evolve each year.
