Did anyone watch the Liverpool v villa game today and if so how did Grealish play? Watching MOTD highlights he didn't seem to do much but its not fair to judge him through that lens.

Didn't do much at all in the 90 mins, good assessment from MOTD. Hope we stay well clear of him.

The usual. Got the ball and tried to buy a foul, the one time he got did seemingly get hurt it was his shin. Which begs the question of why does he wear his shin pads so low. He did have one guilt edge chance to get a goal back for Villa but Alisson made a smart excellent save.

Steady as ever, would make a great squad player at the price and would rather have him coming off the bench than Lingard or pereira that’s for sure. He’s not hit the ground running since lockdown but none of the team has, he’s still their best player and only real attacking outlet, would be interesting to see if he could step up in a better side.

£80m for a squad player is rather a lot don't you think. Thanks for the replies though.

I think Grealish will go for £50m maybe rising to £60m with add-ons. Villa looking likely to go down and won’t be able to keep him.

He improves the squad and back up for the creativity of Fernandes and Pogba. We can’t expect them both to play 60 games a season and we know Matic, Fred and McTominay are different kinds of midfielder. Longer term who knows what Pogba’s future is? Think he’s here next season regardless.

Grealish may well kick on in a better team.

Does he have the right temperament for United and potentially not being a guaranteed starter? Not so sure.

But he’s English which carries a premium due to the homegrown rule, young enough at 24 to have some great years out of him and clearly has some natural flair and creativity. One of the highest chances created figures in the league I believe.

He’s worth the investment though personally a player like Van de Beek available at £40m looks a steal to add to our midfield options.

£80m though I agree looks way too expensive given we need to prioritise other areas first.

There's something special about him.
He draws players towards him, has an eye for a pass.
However, he divides opinion.

Ed002 said he is a clear target for United as he offers something unique.
He is only behind De Bruyne in terms of chances created in the league.

Wouldn't want him for £40m even though its not my money. Spends all his time posing and diving. Not what I would want back at OT with Ashley Young gone.

I would have liked to see him in and England team with better players than Villas to see how fared.

Dan,

Not sure I’ve seen him dive once to be honest, he gets fouled a lot because he often draws the foul, most fouled player in the league, he gets kicked a lot because of his close control.

Salford, not sure where you’re getting £80m from, we won’t be paying that much.

As TRD said only behind KDB in chances created in a poor side, has also scored a few. I’m not fully sold on him either as it’s unknown if he could step up but definitely has something special about him, more so than Lingard and pereira that’s for sure.

GDS £80m is a figure often quoted. I know that in reality it's likely to be less but even £40m for a squad player is a lot of money. If we are to compete with the best we need two top players for every position and in today's financial environment paying over the odds is stupid. Liverpool don't need Grealish, nor do Chelsea. He might possibly interest City but they don't usually get shafted on transfer fees. Apart from them who else of the top European teams take him. Not Madrid, Barca, Bayern, PSG or Juve. Seems to me there is a very limited market of top teams who might want him.
