Been a big critic of his on here at times, but we are seeing some top class performances from martial at the moment. Great goals, but what's been most pleasing to see is his movement, his much improved hold up and link up play.

Long may it continue. With his finishing ability if we get him the chances he could easily be a 25 goal a season striker. Let's up he unlocks his massive potential. He was excellent last night.

I'm hoping for a win a piece for us and Leicester in the next round of games and a loss for Chelsea. That would mean a draw in the final game resulting in Chelsea missing out. Lol.

Both Martial and Rashford have 22 goals each and 8 assists each.

Imagine if we had Pogba and Bruno in the first half of season, the numbers would gave been crazier.

He had been really good now particularly since the restart.
I don't like him and have been a big critic. I didn't see this form coming. Credit where its due. To think even some of his most loyal supporters wanted to sign harry kane only a few months ago.
I think he has taken a lot of people by surprise with his new found effort and dedication. Only 12 months ago ole wanted to replace him too so full credit to martial for starting to play better. Long may it continue.

Exactly jred, this is what happens when you want a player to perform on how you have judged him rather than judging him on how he has performed, ken and redman need to take a break from their pet hates, this getting to sounness's opinion on pogba level biased, even the compliments are backhanded.

You have your pet hates now are in the past and were and still are allowed to air them.
Martial before this season had scored 35 epl goals in 5 seasons or something like that. He was not trying. Jose wanted to replace him ole wanted to replace him. Ole tried rash at cf before martial. He was not imorove at all for either manager. But now he is doing better. In fact he imo has been at least as good as bruno since bruno signed.
I think harry kane would score more than martial if they swapped places. That said its not gong to happen and if he keeps up his form we won't need to sign another striker mason greenwood can play plenty of games and hopefully get better and challenge martial for his favoured positionas cf over the coming years.

Martiall always had the tslent but just wadnt guven opportunities as a cf. He is a top top player and just needed a season like this. If he avoids injury for next couple of years then we are going to see a lot of goals from him.

At least Ken and Redman amongst others are putting their opinions out there and changing them based on what they see.

There's a few on here grinning from ear to ear at the prospect of finishing 5th. Who would keep everyone in the team because we're mowing over the weaker teams in the league.

This squad still needs improvement and if we want to progress, there will be questions asked of everyone consistently.

The majority of the team and the manager have been performing very well. But they also have a tendency to go off the boil for long periods of time.

Martial is doing enough to show he can lead the line next season. No more, no less. It's far too early to say if he's turned the corner or this is a purple batch.

Ken he has scored 35 goals in 5 season because mourinho didn't like him much, difficult to score or do anything when manager refuses to play you consistently and even when he did it was as a winger not a forward. This season he has played 2460 minutes in pl and that's while being out with injury for 2 months, under mourinho the most he managed was 1584.

Ole tried to play rashford as a cf last season when he was just starting as a manager, this season every single game martial has played is as a cf.

Harry kane is a great player but if you put him in the utd team pre fernandes he doesn't do any better than martial or rashford did. They had no support in attack except for each other, kane is finding how it feels to play that way under mourinho currently and it hasn't been great for him.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, it was not just Jose not liking him, most on here gave me grief for saying I thought he should be a striker not a winger. It did seem very much the consensus that Martial was a winger in his early days with United.}

Ed001 pretty sure he did start out as a cf for us until lvg had enough of depay and shifted martial to the left to replace him.

{Ed001's Note - off the top of my head I can't remember to be honest. I just remember most people telling me I was wrong about him being a striker.}

Mumbles the numbers him and rashford have put up are excellent given injuries and also the fact Bruno and pogba were not there for a very long time. Btw, in my opinion the squad now is only capable of pushing past 5th place. Until Bruno came without pogba we had no creativity and were average. People seem to forget we hadn’t put out a fully fit side since the very early weeks of the season. Regardless of where we finish this season progress is pretty clear to be seen.

Caolan. The squad is only now good enough to challenge 4th? Gimme a break man. Stop making excuses for the man. He should have been sacked twice already. He stayed in a job because he is a legend at the club. He's done well to be in with a chance of achieving our goals now. There's two games remaining to finish 4th. If we can't take that step, he simply doesn't deserve another season.

18 months in charge, £220 million spent for 1 extra point and 1 extra place. That's not good enough in my eyes. If we make the champions league it's enormous for the club. Financially alone in a year where money will be very tight this is a must.

If he can't meet the minimum expectations that all our previous managers were held to, then it's adios amigo.

Ed001 to be fair to everyone his best position was difficult to judge. He has always been a great finisher but he isn't your classic no 9 player.

So mumbles are you telling me that the options he had for the majority of the season in a creative sense from midfield were good?

This options were Andreas Pereria, Lingard, Mata (great player but well past his best) . How many premier league goals and assists have they had? We cried out for Bruno in the summer, those above ole didn’t get it done as Ed said many times. Pogba missed how many games? Rashford missed how many games? Martial missed two months as well. In that time we won against a lot of good sides. So how am I making excuses for the man? Ridiculous how we can be on a good run now yet people still have to have a go. Enjoy your team playing well, that’s honestly not a difficult thing to do? If you can’t see any positives then I just don’t know what else to say.

They were same creative players Jose got us to 2nd with Caolan. I am thoroughly enjoying watching us playing decent football. It's a stark contrast to the tripe that was being served up at the start of the season being bested by some relegation candidate sides.

I can see the improvement of course. I would expect nothing less than improvement with the money spent and the time he has.

I have always said that he needs to get 4th. If he does then it can show he get meet expectations. He got to 4th last year and ballsed it up. If it's in our hands this year and he can't get us over the line. All the nice little attacking play will be for nothing. I don't accept and will never accept 5th being enough!

It's not often I get to brag on here, but i do remember discussing him with Ken once, and I said I thought he was one of the most natural finishers around. Just needed a run of games in his best position, and a manager who trusted him. Thankfully he also has one of the most predatory finishers around to teach him his craft.
