So...

What's people's thoughts on the season as an overall?

Think the signing of Bruno changed our fortunes and kept Ole in a job, although he should've been signed in the summer.

I think we need 2 top CBs, possibly LB, CDM, RW and ST.

Get rid of Lingard, Rojo, Jones, Mata, Periera. If we don't sign another CB I'd keep Smalling as he's a better DEFENDER than what we have, just poor on the ball.

I think the C.V. break helped us a lot more than most teams due to getting big players back fit. Disrupted the likes of Leicester, Wolves and Sheff United.

I know we conceded less than last season but were still all over defensively and still making a lot of errors that lead to goals.

I think Solskjaer has been weak in his approach and letting too many people off the hook by continuing to play them even when not playing well, he doesn't have a plan B and his substitutions are awful and never changes it up enough. We seem to rigid in our approach and keep trying the same things time and time again. Need to mix it up a bit and front 3 should interchange a lot more.

Chelsea have made two top signings already and close to another two which if they can sign a top CB I think they'll be looking very good next season.

I think Sancho will massively improve us but depending on budget I wouldn't put all eggs in one basket as there's other areas that need improvement.

If the money is there id make

Giminez
Saul
Sancho

Priority.

Or

Torres
Fabian
Cheisa

Hopefully we spend on the right players that will move us forward.

we finished where we aimed for top 4. had 3 good cup runs

we need a cb, cdm who can actually pass and receive the ball from defense and who can dictate the play a rw is a must and i would say we need another cm

we have no quality on the bench to be able to change a game.

Those are dream signings Wilbot.
I'll even add a top quality left back to that list.

The season has been very hit and miss in my opinion. We've had a few positives but a few negatives as well. Finishing 3rd, winning big games against the likes of City, Chelsea, Spurs etc. The signings have mostly worked out as well. Also the atmosphere seems to have improved around the club compared to times with LVG, Moyes and Jose.

Prior to signing Bruno, we were a very average side, since signing Bruno, playing Greenwood more often and getting Pogba and Rashford back we have definitely improved but still have plenty of flaws. We need 3 or 4 starters plus a couple of squad players before our squad is in a position to challenge for trophies in my opinion.

The questions obviously remain I've Ole, much like players stats, his stats can be skewed to show either a positive or negative picture. For example, we finished 3rd which is great but we also finished with the 2nd lowest points total we've had in the PL. Our defensive record improved significantly, however, we're still clearly not great at the back.

I like Ole, I'd love to see him succeed simply because he is a club legend but he is not the answer long term in my opinion. The club seem to have finally backed a manager (at least last summer and in January) plus they gave Ole time despite having a couple of chances to move on which at those times would have probably been understandable. A club backing a manager is always good to see, but I feel the wrong one has been backed in this instance.

Moving forward I'd say we should be looking to move on Smalling, Jones, Rojo, Lingard, Dalot, Mata, Fred, Ighalo (loan ends), Pereira and one of De Gea or Henderson (whoever is not starting) over the next two summers. We should look to bring in a CB to start alongside Maguire (he's not that much better than Lindelof but he's not getting dropped), a left back to challenge Shaw with Williams moving over to the right to challenge AWB, a defensive midfielder, another creative midfielder, a right winger and a striker.

Obviously not all of the above can be done this summer but a defensive midfielder, a right winger and centre back are the most essential for me.

after the lockdown, i think Ole's tactics got found out against Southampton and with Luke Shaw injured opposing teams exposed the weakness on the left.

we need left footed players in key positions. i'd personally go all out for Alphonso Davies, but that won't happen right now.

Maguire lacks leadership skills,

LB to give competition to Luke Shaw. Telles? ,
LCB Gabriel, Badiashille?,
CM Saul, Thiago, Rice, VDB
RW Sancho
LW Leon Bailey or Ryan Sessegnon

it takes Ed Woodward and co at least one month to negotiate and sign a player so this will probably take 3 windows.

we seem to have a load of folk on here and elsewhere media wise (pundits etc., ) who are prioritising a right winger as a summer recruit.
Is it really the case?
Theres no "target man" to feed off crosses, in fact we have very few who are attacking the ball with their heads in the opposing box. Most balls would need to be cut back or slotted through as happens on the left with rashford or martial or bruno.
Greenwood could indeed do the job perfectly well as well as play through the middle if required, with a little coaching as he has oodles of talent and has had a remarkable breakthrough season. Money better off been spent in defense and midfield tbh. Ob viously just my opinion.

Cooky can our front 3 who have performed well this season of rash Martial and mason play every game? We know that's not possible. 4 top class for 3 spots is ideal James's likely to start close to 40 games james can back the 4 up.
Any combination of sancho martial greenwood snd rashford is strong.
So rw is a huge priority.
Cb is an obvious priority
Dm for me is an obvious priority
Am lb and cf are secondary priorities imo.

Two decent centre halves priority, a proper pairing who reassure those around them, where the keeper has some idea of how they play and offer some form of protection, who can play the ball out either at pace to the midfield or slow it down and dictate the pace, who the midfield feel confident that they are right behind them and will be competent to deal with threats so they can push up more to join in attack.

It’s been an inconsistent season with a young team that has improved throughout. We’ve seen the emergence of Greenwood who looks a star in the making and Williams (who for some reason seems to be getting grief but there we go) . Plenty to work with moving forward, but the recruitment is key and the board need to deliver the players the manager wants. Looking at the squad and the injuries we had particularly before Bruno arrived, I think it was a good effort to come 3rd.

Ken, I don't think 4 for 3 spots is ideal- injuries and form loss aside we could do with more options but another striker would work better imo than a right winger. A rw would make sense if we played 4-4-2 but we don't and that's not going to change.
Priorty must be cb surely? dm again is an area we could look at and forwards but my point is not just the rw but 120 m for a player who is great "in the bundesliga" at the expense of not filling a t least 2/ 3 more needed spots is not good management.
Remember the 89m man last season who many still look to as the saviour- an injury lost his services for over 1/ 2 a season.
