So Maguire has been found guilty and I’m not here to sharpen the knives.

Maguire is your captain and I get the club need to stand by him but they need to be careful.

I know it’s a different scenario but we did similar with Suarez and look how that worked for us.

I do think maguire has done wrong but if his story is true you could argue some of it was justified but as it stands he has been guilty and if it was me, or it was liverpool captain I would take him out of the limelight and remove the captains armband away from him. If this is still up in the air come the start of the season the media and limelight on the club will be massive. Then after this has run it’s course it can be reassessed.

Plus if the appeal isn’t overturned the club should have some damage limitation in place. Again we stood by Suárez and it massively backfired in our face.

In regards to England I’d take him out the squad short term, for damage limitation and to protect him. If he does anything wrong in the game the media will be on him like a tonne of bricks. Making his situation even worse.

The situation is tough for all parties but united have themselves to protect too and can’t drop him like a potato but back him too much and it could go the other way and negatively effect United.

Previous captains rooney keane and cantona all were sputtered by the club as was gerard so it will be ok.
Not ideal and he may well lose the captaincy but life will go on.

Decent post mate.

We’ve seen countless things like this in the past, even at the club. Keane and cantona for examples. I agree he probably shouldn’t be captain now, but I think it’ll come down to his mind frame and whether he plays. It’s very hard for any of us to comment on this case, as to be honest I doubt many of us have knowledge of the Greek judicial system.

I think what the club does next is crucial, we tend to stick by players and support them as best we can and I think this should be done for maguire. Not one of us where there, and once there’s a proper appeal we may well get a better picture. But right now what we get released from the case are the headlines and the things that grab the attention. That’s one thing that was heavily criticised by a judge in the case of an Ulster rugby player (a completely set of circumstances again, but if anyone is familiar with it they may see my point) .

Personally, if maguire comes back and plays and works hard for the team, that’s what matters. When he’s on the pitch he has my backing, if he’s guilty and I think the appeal will determine that better, then I’d be disappointed in him. The guy will be going through hell right now too.

I think I will wait for the full story to emerge with this one. If Maguire has done what has been alleged then I have no sympathy and he deserves all the greif he gets.

However, all this doesn't quite add up for me. Looking at the quotes, things just seem a little strange to me. I appreciate there are language barriers, but Maguire is supposed to have called himself "the leader of Manchester United", and got angry after being "hit on his golden leg".
Do they sound like genuine quotes? And then the prosecution submitting their evidence late the night before the trial, leaving the defence very little time to digest the 'allefed" evidence, and being denied a postponement.
Sound a bit if a kangaroo court to me. I may be completely wrong, and if so then I will be first to admit I am wrong, but I don't think we've heard the last of this, not by a long shot.

Jred, itll be the media that get the most out of all this, bet skysportsnews haven't had this many views for months. As a rival fan, I'm interested how it plays out but don't intend to mock united fans for it.

It has clearly happened on both sides and will blow over but the club need to protect themselves imo as they could end up with egg on their face.

Before all this he wouldn't of been my pick of captain as, from what I've seen, I don't think he's a big enough leader. Now, the captain represents the club and to protect both parties the smart move would be to take it away.

Also Gerrard was a prat away from the pitch apparently but it wasnt as well known when he was captain. But just because our former captain wasn't a great role model doesn't automatically mean Maguire is exempt and can be immune from criticism.

WYRED I agree with that, although if I'm honest i probably would mock liverpool fans if roles where reversed.
Nothing personal just football fan banter.

They saw a millionaire footballer and got publicity from
It. Greek authorities are as corrupt as our own, if maguire offered them Money they would of snapped his hands off it’s a load of rubbish and maguire will win his appeal. If it was genuine it wouldn’t me concluded it less than a week.

Fair enough for being honest mate, I won’t because his actions don’t reflect you guys.

But he has put the clubs name in lights for the wrong reason the club should do everything to put the fire out as the other players don’t deserve the pressure.

As for the case and corruption etc we all have no idea and it’s all speculation. The police have claimed he said things and it’ll be very hard to prove otherwise without cctv or independent witnesses.
