Not trying to be a wise guy but do any of the reports state whether the two are actually ill? Or are they just asymptomatic C.V.s.

Also have they been tested twice to discount the possibility of a false positive from the pcr test?

Usually a false negative not a false positive.

Daviebhoy07, with such a low prevalence of the disease in the community, false positive are actually more common than you think even with a test that is reportedly 99% accurate.

Just what I’ve seen in the hospitals DSG, horrible thing to get. But what we seen all the time was people testing Negative and then going on to be positive on repeat swabs. (Just below half of swabs takes) . Could be down to not actually swabbing right when initially testing. Never really seen false positives.

Blackpool, I’m assuming you thought that comment was funny. It isn’t.

It’s more likely you are positive and asymptomatic. And hopefully not, but others might test positive, or they are false negatives. All the best and hope yous are all okay.

I've had to have a couple of tests, I suffer with mild copd, similar symptoms, but been extremely lucky to be negative on both occasions, I have friends and family who have had the virus and it was a mixed bag, my niece who works in a hospital had what would be described as mild cold symptoms and another friend and his family (who I know are extremely healthy living) were incredibly ill.

This thing is a lottery imo and anyone who is unlucky enough to contract it deserves the utmost sympathy, just hope the lads and their families are OK.

{Ed0666's Note - glad you’re ok deano
