Fabrizio Romano just confirmed that Madrid have offered Reguillon to United.

Amazing if true. Wouldn't have thought we'd get anywhere near a player like him.

{Ed0666's Note - why would you not think united could get him?

I think he is a good player from whay I've seen, admitedly not loads.
But not going to get my hopes up as i'm sure ED002 didn't have us down to be looking for a LB this summer. And though we have been offered him doesn't mean that were interested.
As much as i would like us to be. As Shaw as been ok of late but cannot seem to keep fit, or just unlucky with injuries.

Have people actually watched Reguillon play other than the last 3 Europa matches. I am not saying he is a bad player but he looks a little bit lightweight and so I have my reservation regarding him transitioning seamlessly from the Spanish league to the English league.

Also Ed2 has mentioned that Chelsea had considered signing him and walked away fearing his one-footedness. So that might have to be considered as well.

If we are really looking for a LB then what is people's opinion on Lucas Digne of Everton.
And if we are after a Spanish LB maybe Jose Gaya might be a viable option considering the fact that Valencia seem to be a real mess.

Because it seems like a sensible transfer.

{Ed0666's Note - aah ironic humor I like it

Regulion is a very good player, I think he would do well if we sign him. I'm not completely happy if Madrid have a buy back option, we could find us losing a good player for a potentially lower than market fee in couple of years. I'd still consider Jamal Lewis, he is EPL proven, homegrown and wouldn't have any issues settling, and could be available for less than 20m.

Deeps, I've watched a lot of him, he'd be a very good upgrade on Shaw.

angel
If a player can be available for more than 80% of the season then he would already be an upgrade on Shaw because as they say the most important ability is availability. But my worry regarding Reguilon is more to do with physicality and also his one-footedness as per ed2.

I've seen many players with that 'one footedness'. I still think if he is good, it matters less.

Physically, I can understand as the premier league has been historically very demanding on players from Europe. However many a Spanish player has coped with that side and I'm sure he will be under no illusions if he does end up in the premier league. If he was naive, he'd soon find out.

Just because he is a very good player ed066. More surprised that he's being offered to us that's all.

What a window if we got him, VDB and Sancho.

{Ed0666's Note - Sorry to be a party pooper but you’re forgetting you still have Ole.

Messi must be rubbish as he is virtually all left foot.

I've been very open with my views about Ole.

However, he is there right now and that is that. So although I wouldn't have much faith in him as a coach, the least the club can do is get him a better calibre of player. Although slow, and amateur, we seem to be doing that bit by bit. It will give Ole a better chance but if he fails to capitalise, it will give our next coach a great starting position.
