A lot of posters on here agree that Ole isn't the best tactical manager to say the least, some decisions he gets right but mostly it has been painfully obviously how much out of his depth he has been, one of the main problems for me is Phelan, here we have an assistant who's methods are stuck firmly in the past advising a manager that is out of his depth.

I understood the wanting an assistant with a link to United but surely René Meulensteen would have been a better shout, all that aside he needs to be backed by getting the players in he needs while as manager and that hasn't happened properly since Fergie and Gill went, one thing is he won't be sacked until we are out of the champs league and not in a position to be in it next season that is for sure.

It's like the Pogba situation allover again.

Buy the players Pogba will be good, bought the players Pogba is still crap.

Get a new assistant the manager will be good. NO! The managers CRAP!

The excuses are unreal and dumbfounding.

it would be better to just get a decent manager.

I agree but they are not going to sack him this season until we are out of europe and can't qualify for champions league next season.

Moyes wasn't good enough so we sacked him.

LvG wasn't good enough so we sacked him.

Jose wasn't good enough so we sacked him.

Ole isn't good enough so the fans want him sacked.

At what point do we say that the problems go deeper than the manager and until they are addressed we will continue as we have the past 7 years. Poor recruitment, poor handling big the club on the footballing side, poor managerial selections, and rinse and repeat sackings to mask the incompetence of those higher up.

Sacking the manager is just asking for the playground bully to spin the roundabout faster even though we feel sick and want to get off.

Sacking the manager will be another win for the decision makers.

Why are we not realizing that the structure is the fundamental problem.

Ole has a fairly decent record against the better teams, so he cat be that tactically inept. Who else beat Guardiola three times last season?

The problems are elsewhere. Ole may not be good enough to take us where we want to be, but nobody would be until the problems are sorted. There needs to be at least a right winger and a center back, I honestly think Maguire is our worst CB since Prunier. The coaching staff needs bettering and a director of football needs to come in, so there's a degree of consistency between managers. Also, transfers need to be sorted before the season begins.

Shappy, Ole won't be sacked but he was never the right manager in the first place, he's here till we are out of europe and out of contention for champs league next season but they have to plan now and make sure they get the right man in this time not some interim coach that gets the job through nostalgia.

I’ve said for the last 6-7 years the club is rotten from top to bottom. I read something a few years ago about how utd scouts spends hours watching and scrutinising our targets. Even a blind man could see Lindelof wouldn’t be a good centre half. Woodward wouldn’t know a player if he fell over him, fantastic at getting sponsorship deals so do that and get a proper football man in charge. How many of the players who have signed since Fergie left would us fans really have signed, hardly any. Money wasted not only on players but giving ridiculous contracts. Surely the Glazers must wonder why people like Phil Jones were given extended improved contracts. Oh sorry they wouldn’t have a scooby who he even was. For me losing David Gill looks catastrophic.

Woodwood doesn't pick the players, he signs the deals off, Judge negotiates them, The scouting team choose the players with the manager so its them that should get the abuse.

Shappy works both ways. At what point do we say that the manager is not good enough? Only after he spends half billion?
I have seen a clear plan at Chelsea from Conte in his first months, at City from day one, at Liverpool the same. It seems that only in our club we must wait 5 years and spending half a billion for a manager to give us an identity and a clear plan.
Yes our recruitment team is bad, we are amateurs, but biggest problem is bad choices of managers. None of the above was a good proactive manager and for a team like United that's unbelievable. It seems like Ole leaves at 1990 and say go out and express yourselves to the players. World of football has changed . that's why in 3 seasons in a row a team superpass 90 points, its not a coincidence. A reactive approach will not take us that far. As i said Ole is trying to give some good answers but the questions has changed.

JaylgMUFC, Van Gaal has recently said he would provide a list of targets and the club would never sign them, either signing someone who was far down the list or someone they believed to be of similar calibre. Mourinho seemed to have similar qualms, so why would it be any different for Ole? People claim Maguire was his first choice but they forget Koulibaly and De Ligt (a player Ole praised again recently when talking of CBs) . By all accounts, Maguire was actually a Mourinho choice that the club failed to sign when he was here.

LLV, Van Gaal was asking for players that didn't want to leave the clubs they was at, same with Jose and that happened even when Fergie was at United, as for the 2 players you mention, Koulibaly didn't want to move and De Ligt wanted Barcelona or Juventus from what i remember.

He asked for quite a large list of players, I'm sure the club could have got one or two, or are we to believe Neymar would rather the French league than the Premier League? When you ask for a world class midfielder and you get Fred, something is wrong.

Well everytime he played last season he played way better than Pogba did, managers will always come out and say i would have had a better chance if they had got me a certain player just look at moyes going on about nearly getting bale this weekend when he was at united.

Fred is overall crap, can't control a ball properly, can't pass properly, gives the ball away constantly. His only pro is that he wins the ball back a lot, but more often than not gives it straight back again, so that is negated.
