Liverpool fan in peace. Looking at the post below you do need to major overall to challenge the top 2 and it will take time. Look at our squad the first game kloop took over.

Liverpool’s starting XI v Spurs: Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel,  Sakho, Moreno,  Leiva,  Can, Milner, Lallana (replaced by Allen), Coutinho (replaced by Ibe), Origi
Subs: Toure, Allen, Ibe, Bogdan, Sinclair,  Vilaca Teixeira,  Randall
Only milner and origi have survived and origi might not be around much longer. You have to be ruthless in football something fergie was great at. Too many players have out stayed there welcome at utd and should have been moved on. Do you think fergie would have kept lingard, pogba and co. No chance. You need to start moving on players and replacing them 3 or 4 players each season. The problem at utd is that it's have been rewarding average players with big contracts.

Good post mate.
Standards have slipped badly at the club and even a lot of fans have let their standards and expectations slip considerably.

Can’t argue with any of that pal, we’re a rubbish show the last 6/ 7 years from top to bottom.

My issue with the post below was that it was looking at the process more as a revolution rather than as evolution.

Klopp has worked wonders with Liverpool since he took over in 2015. Yet it took 3-4 years for him to make all the changes he needed and get Liverpool playing well enough to challenge for the title then go one better and win it.

The idea that we could do this in 1 or 2 years is the issue. People judge the current United side like we are one or two signings away from being a top side again.

I also think we actually potentially already have several of the key components of a potentially great team in place. The issue is that they are young and are 2-4 years away from being at their or approaching peak.

The other difference is the manager they chose. Perfect choice for Liverpool. We have picked managers totally unsuitable for our club.

Shappy - Lampard and Chelsea are trying it in one summer - lol

7 players already signed (SARR - Loaned out) and potentially looking at Rice too.

I know they missed a couple of windows due to suspension but what I would give for their negotiating team.

Shappy, again I never suggested it could be done in one window, I just stated what would be needed to compete with City and Liverpool. It would take probably 3 seasons, with the odd hiccup. It would mean backing a manager, and sticking to a system though, not panicking and changing every 18 months to rinse and repeat.

Good post Liverpoolmanc mate. But we are not in Liverpools position. We have some players good for a title winning side, Liverpool was in a much worst position. Players like De Gea (Henderson), Bruno, maybe Bissaka, VDB and our front 3 or at least 1 or 2 of them, althought i think all of them if better coached.
The problem is mainly the defenders and the coach. Not much (good) movements from players to help their mates means that Rashford have to take on 2-3 players in order to find some space to shoot. At the match with Palace we needed badly a goal and there was no plan, especially when VDB came in we saw a lot of players in the same place confusing each other, it was like our players marked our players.
Being ruthless is the solution. Being ruthless means you accept that you made a wrong decision and you will try to change this. Ideally i would change all the defence bar Bissaka. Two center back with pace, one like Upamecano and the other more dominant in the air like Milenkovic and two left backs, one to replace Shaw and a younger for cover with Williams going at right back to fight with Bissaka and let's see if he is better than him. Then I would sell Pogba even for 30 millions and replace him with Saul. But I would start with a top proactive manager.

I think as a team you have a few good players. Henderson, bruno, greenwood, rashford, martial, Maguire if paired with a centre back that can lead and awb. The rest are not good enough. You need center midfielders that can move the ball quickly if you are going to use the front three correctly. You also need midfielders that can impose themselves on a game. When i watch you play you seem to lose the ball easily. As much as ole is a legend for you guys he doesn't seem to inspire your team. You need a manger that is going to give your team confidence. That's probably the area your team lacks the most.

It's definitely food for thought, and shows what a club can do with the right manager, coaches and the right recruitment. But can we say we have any of that at Utd? Wasn't Klopp sounded out as a possible manager of Utd, but came and had a thorough look and didn't like what he saw? In a Catch-22 kind of way, that proves he would have made a great manager for us!

Good to see a post start with "Liverpool fan in peace" which turns out to be genuine.

The likes of Jones, Smalling and Pereira have definitely been with us too long. We've been focused on shiny new signings and the money available has led us to neglect the need to move players on.

When you see that starting 11 it puts into perspective how quickly things can change. So it can be done. Just not by us for some reason.

Good luck for the rest of the season. I know what it's like when the club you love is not the club you know it should be.

Another liverpool fan here when we were crap for many years we looked at utd for years and thought were just as good as them, but we were not.
We compared our players to yours our managers to Ferguson.

As a pool fan we would be quite happy to see ole at the wheel for years.
Player wise can any utd fan see any current utd player starting for liverpool these days a certain argument for bruno maybe but I don't think he's a klopp midfielder and greenwood definitely but maybe in a year or two time. after that nothing.

That's the difference in the two teams at the moment it's hard to take it was for us for years.

We got lucky most of our signings have exploded thanks in no part to klopp how utd get that back is the big question.

The only positive in liverpool's revival is it shows it can be done, rivalry aside most of us would like to see a better utd side in the league.
