Less than 156 hrs to go and still no more new signings.

The most efficient signing I've seen us do in years was Donny and that still took 3-4 days to complete.

No way is Woodward going to pull off both Sancho and Telles in 6 days!

We could get Sarr if we throw £40m at Watford but why do that?! From what I've seen he's talented but very raw. He's going to need coaching and time to develop. He's not going to walk straight into the 1st team and make a difference to our final league position.

I'd rather we focus our energy on developing Elanga who looks a fine talent and is a player we already have. No need to spend £40m just to then spend years developing Sarr when we could adopt the same approach with Elanga but for free!

Buy Sancho or an experienced alternative (Costa or Perisic) who can walk straight into the 1st team and develop Elanga for the future. Don't waste money on Sarr.

Players like Costa and Perisic are available for good reason. Both would cost a lot in wages, neither have ever played in the EPL, while Costa has a terrible injury record and Perisic primarily plays on the left.

Short term solutions are not a worthwhile investment. We either get a player who doesn't work out, sits on the bench for a year and takes a huge wage. Or they do work out and we are left next summer wondering do we spend money on a 32 year old who fits the team or do we spend on a younger more long term option who might not.

People look at Bayern as a success story of signing older players on loan not wanted at other clubs, with Rodriguez, Coutinho and Perisic all considered good options. Yet all three were really only squad depth options and not first choice, while none were considered such a success that Bayern turned their loans into a permanent deal.

A loan option only makes sense if the club are sure of securing a deal for Sancho next summer. If not then we have potentially an expensive loan signing and still be left with not knowing who to sign next summer.

This summer if we sign a LB and a RW then that is in theory at least two positions we don't need to look at next summer. Allowing us to focus on a CB, ST and a CDM next year.

If we sign a loan player then it just muddies the water and means we have another position we need to address next summer. As we have seen we generally tend to struggle to get more than three deals done a summer.

If we can't sign Sancho this summer then the best player available to play on the RW position for us is Mason Greenwood. 17 goals in his debut season, and our best finisher. He will only get better as the season progresses. Just seeing the jump in his performances pre and post lockdown. At his age the learning curve is steep and the amount he can improve happens quickly.

However, if Greenwood is going to be our first choice RW then we need a back up/ rotation option who offers something different. Considering the lack of width on our right hand side due to AWB not being an offensive full back and other options we have for that role generally prefer to play more central. Then signing a wide player who can stay wide and stretch teams on the right would strengthen the options the manager has available to him.

While there is a lack of quality in the first team in keys areas, last season we fell short due to a lack of depth. Too many players had to play too many games while the options that did step in aren't good enough.

While DvdB and Sarr might not be first choice this season, they are significantly better than having to rely on Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard.

Having those two mean we can rest players without fear of losing games.

I watched Sarr in the French league and he has a lot of talent. He would be a really good addition provided he is coached to bring out that potential. Big question mark is whether Ole and his team are capable of coaching him.

Id say that's a resounding no Salford but time will tell.
So far as far as i can see the only player that has imoroved in the last 18 months is Mariah and that's pretty debatable imo.

Dalot no awb no maguire no lindelof no shaw no pogba no mctom no fred no james no rash no. ole and he merry band of coaches have not imoroved any of them so i don't think they will do it with sarr either.

We have until the 16th to sign Sarr.

So if we don’t get Sancho in (who isn’t bothered about playing for us), the amateurs still have another 11 days to sign Sarr.

Prediction: Telles over the weekend and Sarr the week after.

While we might have until the 16th to sign Sarr the cut off for our UCL squad is the 6th I believe. So if he isn't signed before the close of the international window then we can't name him in our UCL squad until January.

That's true Shappy. It would be fitting for the amateurs to do that.

Didn't we buy Dan James to improve him and have one for the future? What would be the point getting Sarr for the same thing?

Different positions TopBom. Why have 1 winger who we can't get anything out of when we can have two?

Dan James looks like a kid that won a competition to play for Man utd every time he plays. Absolutely mad that he's starting games for this team.

Ah but we’ve all decided he’s rubbish TopBomin and want a shiny new toy. His many coaches actually do coach these days?
