I'm really fed up of my club buying players for silly money,

Sometimes championship players can come in and do a job,

Sarr is yound and very hit and miss but I would take him all day long.

If he was going to liverpool everyone would be banging on about how we have missed out on a talent.

Another thing is as much as I support ole, the difference between us and other clubs is that they can buy players that fit the system, so they won't struggle as much.
We don't really have a set system as we chop and change formations and tactics alot.

For me the biggest issue we have is just poor scouting. When we signed AWB Ed Woodward comes out and says we scouted 800 RB's before deciding to sign AWB. Which is just a nonsense, no club scouts 800 players. They may have used a database, for a data driven approach to narrow down a group of specific player traits and abilities to create a short list to actually scout and that database may have included 800 players. But the club certainly didn't have a selection of scouts watching 800 players.

Which is something totally different, there are margins of error when using databases, they are based off of subjective information in the first place, while the parameters you place on a search could be flawed.

Very rarely have Liverpool bought the "obvious" option. That is because they know exactly what they need, and they find gems where others only saw dirt. While Thiago was an obvious choice they plucked players Robertson, Wijnaldum, Mane, Alisson, Fabinho and Firmino from relative obscurity to become top class key players in a title winning side. They added players like Salah and VvD who were more "known" but still not considered world class. I have no doubt in my mind that in 12-18 months time we will be looking at Diogo Jota and thinking we missed a trick. We were actually linked to him in January and most dismissed him as not good enough.

It is our inability to find talent that fits exactly what we need and then develop that player into a world class player that is holding us back. We want a CB so we sign Maguire, the obvious choice, we want a RW so we are in for Sancho the obvious choice. There are player out there that could have as good or even a better impact that we could sign for a fraction of the price but we keep missing out.

The concern a few years ago when Woodward first assumed his current role was that we chased "obvious" targets such as Fabregas, Bale and Kroos. We then signed players like Falcao and Di Maria. Pogba and Lukaku. We haven't refined our ability to locate players. We are still going for the big name obvious targets. All we have done is which to a preference for younger homegrown players.
We still lack to nuance to find a genuine great player beyond those the average casual fan would know and love.

Sarr goes to Liverpool and I am 100 percent sure he willl improve but if he comes to us he will be half a player he is now because of our coaches.

How many times have I said on here, what is our style, our pattern and what is the plan in buying players to achieve our objectives on the pitch. It is unclear at best.

Shappy mentions AWB being scouted amongst 800 RB’s, so why then expect him to attack when he is clearly very good defensively but poor in attack. Seems to suggest we didn’t buy to a clear profile outlined by the coaches. We have bought players who fitted an image but didn’t fit the need for the team. I would love to know what the briefed requirement was when buying AWB, maybe next we will be buying Benson or Hedges.

Once the player is bought, which of them have been improved by the present coaches? Maybe Martial, but he couldn’t have been much worse and still looks inconsistent. Is that why the amateurs think they have to buy the finished product every time?

The amount of money is irrelevant to us the supporters i don't get why fans say he is not good value or wow he was a bargain. If the player has been scouted and is what we need just pay get them signed and move on and build the team. 🤑🤑.

I haven't been at all impressed by our coaching staff, maybe time for a shake up. There is the kid Cantwell at Norwich, Sarr, mcginn at villa, Bowen at West Ham. Dan James of course . all good prospects but would they improve -and save us a shed load of money if they came to us?

No they wouldn't reach their potential under our 1st team coaching staff imo.
