Hope I am not the only one who think Porto can do one? We offer £15 million for a player out of contract next year and they say no, sod them then. They want £22 million. We want £20 million for Mike, Roma offer less. We stick to our numbers like all other teams do.

We don't want to keep Smalling. Ole doesn't see him as part of our squad at all. He isn't part of our first team. Whereas guys like Telles and Sancho are first team players for their respective sides.

Do you see where the bargaining chips fall at?

So does Smalling. But if we end up blocking the move for him, he would be stick away from the first team and not contribute much significantly while soaking up sizeable chunck on wages.

On the other hand Telles would still be in the first team for Potto in all likelihood and likely attract interest from other clubs.

But looks like we have agreed the deal for Telles.

Mind you I think if the Roma move for Smailling fails to materialise there would still be 1 or 2 teams struggling defensively right now who would provide us with a solution IMO.
