Apparently what Ed002 has long said, European breakaway league talks meant to be happening, I know there are talks quite regularly about it but it just seems more real now, hope it doesn't happen but for do's Ed on the pulse again.

Apparently it would be played along side the domestic season. I can't see that lasting to long before a complete breakaway from the top clubs.

{Ed002's Note - It is actually a proposal to try and prevent the breakaway that gives power and money to clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United - it would be the Champions League that would go. THis has all been dealt with previously.}

Yeah I thought that was the reason for it being alongside the domestic leagues. Would this be a format where a team would have to qualify by placement in league or by invitation based on the clubs prestige and standing in the game? Surely it would mean more games in a season but makes sense why the clubs were pushing for 18 teams in the PL and not playing in the league cup.

All along the lines of what Wenger said after he retired. UEFA been telling clubs throughout Europe the optimal number of teams in a league is 18 maximum. as changes are coming, extending the CL . he said he could see a breakaway league or something monumental happening .

After the initial teams are selected to form a league how would other teams qualify. I do not want it to be a closed shop.
