Maybe we have all been wrong, and maybe we should be getting a partner for Lindeloff, not Maguire. Watching him with Axel against PSG, they were excellent, both knew when to cover and positioning was very good. Maybe covering for Harry has effected his game. He and Axel could be solution, but they won't drop Harry.

I have said all along Maguire is the one not up to standard not Lindelof. I have pointed it out on here many a times that Maguire has dragged down Lindelof's game.
Mind you I don't think Lindelof is fully suited for PL football. He isn't the most physical of defenders and he isn't great aerially but having= to cover for Maguire due to his lack of positional sense and reading of the game, most of the time Lindelof is having to do a lot.


BUT I THINK AXEL FIRST NEEDS TO PROVE HIS FITNESS. He has managed just a solitary appearance 8n the whole year of 2020. He has shown the potential to be a genuine first team CB for us but not managed a proper run of games in the PL yet.

I agree with you here. Maguire has made an awful lot of mistakes for a so called top defender. Last season he played opposition players on side which allowed them to score. He often drops back and never holds the line.

Maguire is a prime example of where desperation results in a panic buy.

Lindelof himself has been culpable for several mistakes.
But right now, CB spots are wide open and up for grabs.

That's been my position since the start redcon. Although lindelof can get sometimes shrugged off the ball, his sense of position and speed is far superior to Maguire which makes him a far better CB.

He's looked lost at see a few times since Maguire's arrival and I put that down to Harry just having terrible positional sense. That game at Palace is a perfect example.

Maguire a panic buy, didn't we look at him the year before but bulked at the price, then folded a year later when we panicked that we needed a defender.
