Hi ed033. Hope all is well mate.
Can you do a survey for us please.
Q. do you think manchester united can compete to win a league under OGS?

{Ed033's Note - i left the other part of your post for Ed001

OGS Poll

Needs a third option: 'maybe given time'. He's a young manager with potential, and just like young players with potential, he could grow into the role. Unfortunately, we'll likely never know.

{Ed033's Note - Or it's fantasy for the management to think that just because S.A.F. needed several years to start winning, so will O.G.S. given time.

LLV.
Is he a manager with potential?
Why should he be given more time?
What is his unfilled potential? Imo
He has no potential he is useless a fraud. Drowning because he is in over his head.
He has the potential to be our worst ever manager. Give him another 6 months he might just fill that potential.

That's not what I'm saying, has nothing to do with Ferguson or comparing, but the fact he has tactically bested some of the most astute managers in football since his appointment, that's potential.

He's had two incredible runs, that's potential. Only time would be able to show whether he is capable of ironing out his mistakes and learn from them I regards to the bass runs of the times when he has been bested. This mentality seems to hold for Arteta and Lampard, I don't think it should be any different for Solskjaer.

Currently, I do not believe any manager in the world would have this squad winning the league, so laying that expectation at his feet is highly unfair and makes this pole kind of redundant.

People say the same about young players when they have a bad game or bad stretch. The thing is whether they manage to edge those moments from their game. Why is it any different for young managers?

Let's not forget he beat Guardiola three times last season, was the first manager to take points from Klopp, and stuck it to Mourinho, and has tactically outthought Tuchel and Nagelsmann already this season. The start of the season has not been the best, but there are contributing factors to that, not simply a case of Solskjaer being good or not.

Your right the start to the seadon is not the best. In fact is the worst EVER.
Even worse than his disastrous start last season.
Should we be jumping up and down with excitement for drawing with Liverpool. Do me a favour!
City beat us in a cup semi final and finished ahead of us in the league so he didn't better pep.
There is no defending OGS as manager. No reason to keep him no debate imo.
I respect your right to share your opinion llv but i respectfully and whole heartedly disagree.
Ole is awful in every sense of the word.

Ken, and yet as LLV points out Solksjaer has some good achievements to his name including getting us to third in the league last year.

I'm genuinely puzzled as to why Utd are so inconsistant, not just with the results but with the performances.

Lovely Ludwig

Read, then re-read this from Ole last night.

"We need to get points on the board. We didn't get our third win until the 10th game last year, we've played six this year. "

Basically, It’s ok, could be worse, we are not doing as badly as last year. Let that sink in. Imagine listening to that as an ambitious player. How does the club board think that is ok?

You mention such feats as outwitting other managers, well Ole and all of us looked complete idiots when Spurs came to town a couple of weeks ago, that wasn’t on your list, or Roy Hodgson, maybe whoever was manager of Norwich, didn’t they “best” us? Is it like conkers, Ole got a win against Nagelsmann, so Roy Hodgson is better than Ole and Nagelsmann and Tuchel?

Ole is lost, yesterday was a dark day, part of the rollercoaster ride to nowhere as all rollercoasters do, where we will be saying, next year is our year. Maybe next season Ole will get a good start next season? One year in three. give him a chance next season, one year we will have a good start

It’s after 12 noon and the failed Cardiff manager is still there, I just shake my head.

Look at the points total. add the context of C.V. break etc into lat season and that's your reason we finished 3rd.
Yeah we played above average for a half dozen games didn't get beat in lots of games except the big semi finals.
Add the context manc man and the mitigating circumstances on how we finished 3rd sand it shows a more complete picture.
Im not knocking the fact we got 3rd but lots of things fell in our favour. No C.V. break no cl imo.

Agreed Ken, but to do well at anything factors have to fall in your favour and often they do because effort has been made for that to happen; it's not normally a fluke when things go your way across a sustained period such as a league season.

As you know I am a big critic of Solksjaer but we have to recognise that sometimes he has got it right and done really well; third in the league is one of those achievements.

His footballing philosophy is all wrong for Utd though as it was for the previous three managers. I have no idea how a club can hire four managers on the bounce who are all so discordant with what Man Utd is all about.

02 Nov 2020 12:56:37
Ken you say qnd others ole has no excuses but list excuses on why we finished 3rd last season?

Could the excuses of not being backed in the summer be used to one of many reasons why he will get sacked?

I think he will be gone by the next window but this will keep happening under the current structure.

12.) 02 Nov 2020
02 Nov 2020 13:12:50
As you know bolger we disagree completely on this.
A new manager is not doomed to fail. Imo.

13.) 02 Nov 2020
02 Nov 2020 13:21:52
Bolger, forget the structure and everything else for once and tell us if any other manager in the world would have made the same subs as Ole made yesterday. Those subs were unrelated to whether he was backed or not. Take off bruno and greenwood and keep pogba on for god's sake. Insanity.

14.) 02 Nov 2020
02 Nov 2020 13:32:03
i agree the manager won't take us to the title ken and ole is the one picking the team but where we disagree is the tools the manager is given.

any manager that comes in after ole is sacked will fail.

we will prob have a decent spell as always when a new manager comes in and after he is given 3rd 4th and 5th choice players it will be ground hog day again.

15.) 02 Nov 2020
02 Nov 2020 13:44:34
He has failed to beat Klopp since becoming manager, and getting a lucky draw on the way.

The only other quality manager he beat was Guardiola that goes to win every game, we beat them by letting City try win the game while we set for the draw and to sneak the goals which we did.

Ole is no mater class he is a lucky lucky man without the watches.

16.) 02 Nov 2020
02 Nov 2020 13:49:01
Not backed him?
He wanted to keep pogba. They kept pogba. Extended his contract against his will.
He wanted to keep ddg. So they gave him the best contract if any keeper on the planet. Then also gave a huge contract to henderson and cut loose a very good no 2 and have left him in limbo
He wanted a new rb they spent a world record fee to get one. Or just about.
He wanted a new lb he got one.
He wanted a new cb so they spent a world record on a new cb.
He wanted a new play maker so did a deal for 60m for a new playmaker.
He wanted a stop gap cf so they got ighalo them cavani
He wanted a winger on his pall giggs recommendation they signed james.
That's pretty extensive backing.
He might not have got his rw 1st choice but it was an unreasonable fee so we signed 2 kids for a combined 30m.
So he has the keepers he wanted.
He has 3 new 1st team defenders
2 new midfielders
A winger and 2 strikers
Just about a whole be team.
The best paid squad the country. The most extensively assembled squad in the country or just about.
He has been backed to the hilt.
He did well to scramble 3rd lady year on the last day. But if there had been no C.V. break he might not have got top 6.
No teams are doing great this season so far. It is difficult no doubt about it. But we are capable of so much more imo. A new coach will imorove our on pitch displays no end and will get more from oles squad than ole can.

Can't blame woodword and co on that one shan. Its a classic deflection.

he has no choice to keep pogba as the ed said the CLUB not the manager has priced him out of a move and no one wants him for the price we want.

who wouldn't want to keep de gea? he's hit a rough patch but he is still a very good goal keeper and henderson was always going to come back and try fight for the number 1 spot after having 2 good seasons with SU, as decent as romero is he isn't going to budge Dave out the way.

but again the club once again not the manager failed to sell the player.

wan bissak has been a hit, maguire other than this season where he's been a bit dodgy has still been an improvement on jones, smalling and rojo who again the club failed to sell. just about sold smalling on deadline day.

the left back was needed and he is an upgrade on shaw, but with him having CV he cannot play yet.

bruno was bought 5 months to late again the CLUBS fault not the managers.

the same manager wanted halland instead was told its ighalo or no one, then was given a panic buy who hadnt played football for over 6 months, who is miles away for being fit and ready.

james was brought in to be bedded in not to be over played, and the kid needs a break he lost his dad, at any age that would take its toll, weather or not he is good enough give him some slack.

he wanted grealish and sancho and was given VDB and a free agent, after months of playing fools again in the window.

he hasn't been backed at all to improve on what we did last season, once we hit the money spots the club stop giving a crap on what happens on the pitch.

you bang on about if it wasnt for CV, YOU seem to forget we were the form team before C.V. our momentum was halted because of C.V., yet you use C.V. as an excuse to why we got 3rd.

we wouldn't have needed to play so many games when we returned and might have won somthing last season if it wasn't for C.V.

i agree with you ken ole doesn't get things right, makes stupid subs and starts the wrong team but he asked for players in the summer to improve on where we finished and he got a left back out of the players he wanted.

no doubt poch be an improvement but we still won't win anything imo with how the club is being ran. ole is being made to be the scape goat which is a shame.

Thats what has been happening Ken, ever since this joker was appointed. No doubt we will beat that Turkish might and will be told that it was a tactical masterclass.

Bolger we won 3 trophies over 3 seasons until ole got here and must smoother final. He has stopped us winning trophies not the board.
I don't expect you to change your view.
But he is the only manager since the early 79s to be here for mite than a year and not get to a final of some description.
The new guy will come in and win something I've no doubt about it. Everyone begore him will have done it except for ole. Every single one.
