I have been following Manchester United forever and posting here first time.
I always enjoyed the success we had under Alex Ferguson for so long. As he got older however, I would think: "This level of success may never be seen again in our lifetime".
How do you transition from the heights that we were at? Perhaps you introduce another manager behind the scenes alongside Alex reducing the shock to the players and club so when he was ready to leave the team would continue without losing it's purpose/ identity. Perhaps this would not be realistic in a real club setting.
Anyway, I think the game has changed too much and the players are different characters today. I feel like we are watching athletes, not footballers. Football is played with the head, not the feet and a smart player is worth their weight in Gold. I also think football is too structured and the flare players or the players with heart are being overlooked for the guy who can run 100m in 10 seconds or lift a certain amount of weights or has the best marketing value.
The heart and soul seems to be gone across the whole game in my humble opinion.
On another note, VAR has taken the few errors that would happen on the field into the studio and given control to people who are not in the moment of the game. Errors are part of life - may happen to our team one week and another team the following week. Its all part of the passion and fun.
Just my two cents here, apologies for long post.

Welcome JB, and you have no reason to apologise for the long post. Shappy, on the other hand 😂.

Great post JB, the problem started with Moyes bringing his own coaching staff from Everton and getting rid of SAF's staff, as many have said. From then it was downhill. Meantally, watching Ole, Carrick and McKenna say to each other, 'what do we do' on Sunday was pathetic. None of them has an answer. One of them should have, or else they're useless. I don't agree that the amateurs are necessarily to blame, other head coaches work with what they are given, make the team better, OGS seems to pick his team and formation on the roll of a dice. That's pathetic.
