How Poor is Martial as a CF, yesterday missed two good chances which should've been buried in the back to the net.
If continues to play like this, we will need a new CF next summer?

Two good chances, only remember the one that bruno laid off for him?

Hes been poor so far this season, think its more of a case of him keeping the space until greenwood is ready to take over. Now we have cavani that's a good stop gap signing to put real pressure on martial for his place.

He is definitely having a patch of bad form. Maybe benching him would be best and play Cavani instead of him.

Martial has all the skills and talent needed to be a top striker. However, his poor form often coincides with us having another striker breathing down his neck. He struggled when Lukaku was here, Lukaku moves on making Martial the undisputed first choice and he hits the best form of his United career. Then United sign Cavani and Martial's form drops off a cliff again.

I wonder whether mentally he has what it takes to be a striker at a top club where you will have competition breathing down your neck all the time.

Maybe he will be one of those players who needs to be the big fish in a small pond. He needs to be undisputed first choice and feel the love, otherwise he struggles under the pressure of losing his place.

Scooby, it's a tricky situation. On one hand when fit and firing he is every bit good enough. On the other he often picks up little niggles and mentally his form seems to tail off when under pressure for his first team spot.

With us aiming to go far in all cup competitions meaning we will play 50-60 games a season we need at least two top class strikers to rotate and rest.

Yet Martial appears to struggle with competition for his place, while his regular niggling injuries mean we can't really just rely on him.

It might be best for both parties long term for a parting of the ways. United need a striker who will relish competition for places not wilt. While if Martial wants to make the most of his career he needs to find a club where he will be undisputed first choice without strong competition for places.

Personally having seen how easily Haaland has stepped up at Dortmund I'd love to see him come in and replace Martial. In reality with our history with Haaland's family, his love of Leeds and the fact that every top side in the world will be after him he probably isn't a realistic target. Someone who could be interesting to keep an eye on would be Odsonne Edouard at Celtic. Very good well rounded striker who looks more than ready to step up, one I'd want to avoid is Moussa Dembele, who's decent, but isn't top class and probably never will be.

So we agree Shappy. He is basically not good enough and needs to move on. It isn't just competition that makes him wilt. Very few teams are going to attack us leaving space for him to play to his strength. When he has to play against teams that sit back he cannot cope, gets stroppy and wilts. He isn't good enough to be our main striker and if he has to cope with competition he wilts. He wilts whatever so move on in my view.

Rash greenwood and martial haven't really got going so far .
But that's the same front 3 that got 60 odd goals between them last season?
