Just read an article on mediareferee site titled "Why Boubakary Soumare would be a great long-term signing for Manchester United" and further down the page was a mention of Pogba and some of the statements are delusional -

"Paul Pogba has grown into becoming one of Manchester United’s most influential players this season. "

"In the event Pogba does end up leaving, it would create a huge deficit in the midfield. "

I know it's just an article and of not much relevance but I just don't understand the love for Pogba from some people and they still believe he is "world class" and "best midfielder" that United have had.

What's frustrating is when anyone criticizes him then some of his fans mention his color, race, religion or country as being the reason for the stick he gets. Some even bring other United players into the equation to suggest having an agenda against Pogba.

With him his performances at United unfortunately don't stack up to his talent and that's where a lot of criticism comes from.

It's time to let him go and give VDB the time to shine.

Easily one of our worst signings in terms of faith shown in him by the managers. can't remember last time where he bossed it for 90minutes.
Hopefully we get rid this summer. Funny part is he is still in the managers first team plan.

Influential figures? Just coasts thru games losing the ball or falling over flapping his arms wanting a free kick most weeks.

Since Pogba signed only Rashford has scored more goals and no one has more assists.

So while there are many question marks over his performances, he has been our most impactful and influential player. So I don't see a problem with a writer commenting as such in an article.

That said, Pogba doesn't want to be here and we should be facilitating his exit. Then we look to rebuild.

Lies, damn lies and statistics Shappy. Sounds like you've never seen Pogba play. Take it from the rest of us, he is just an idea of a footballer.

If you don't believe me watch Wednesdays match and then come back and tell us how "impactful and influential" Pogba was.

Jeez Louise, next you'll be saying that Solksjaer is a decent manager.

Shappy what a load of rubbish.
Pogbas name shouldn't be near the word influential.

Come on Shappy Pogba has been here since 2016 and scored 26 goals. Bruno is on for equalling that in 38 games or a single season of games. He needs 7 in the next 8 games. Added to the fact that. Pogba doesn’t want to be here and that has showed this season and last where he has 2 goals and 2 assists. That is not influential at all. He needs to go and we need to build a midfield without him and my McFred .

Give it a rest Shappy he hasn’t scored at OT for 18 months.

Run your stat checker over that time, rather than the first couple of seasons when he was our penalty taker.

He’s a MOTD player and that’s why neutral football fans think he’s good. They see his highlights reel and he looks a world beater.

Yet for those of us who watch him every game, we see him pass the ball out of play, see him hounded out of possession, fail to chase back and repeatedly give away clumsy penalties, we know how what sort of player he really is.

Never have I felt like this about one of our own players. It will be a great day for the club when he finally leaves, and I think most will realise that when he’s been gone for a little while.

I'm not saying he's a good player for us or even that he has been good enough.

The OP's issue seemed to be with the use of the word "influential", I was merely pointing out that from a goalscoring perspective that only Rashford has been more influential during Pogba's time at the club.

I agree that he needs to go and that the balance of our midfield will be much better once he has gone.

Under normal circumstances Pogba would not have been an influential player at United. But we have been shorn of quality in midfield for many years now and while he hasn't been world class he has been the best we have had (until Bruno) at creating/ scoring from midfield. Ergo he has been influential. Albeit influential in our worst form for 30 years.

Fair enough Shappy.

But I still think you need to look at the last two years, rather than the first two years.

If Pogba has been one of our most influential players it shows how much we’ve lacked real quality.

Fortunately we now have Bruno and Rashford carrying the torch, and could have VDB pulling the strings of Ole dare give him a run of games.

Pogba is lucky there are no fans at OT because there is no doubt he would be getting the bird.
