If it had been SAF, Moyes, LvG or Jose, the ref would have had an earful for that refereeing of the game so far. 4th official would have had his ears murdered by now. But the nice guy just smiles.

Yes a great goal by Maguire, oh erm no. The scrutiny on Shaw's tackle was ridiculous. He played the ball and barely touched the other player, the Burnley player made an absolute meal of the challenge. There were lots of late challenges by Burnley players that never seemed to get looked at. We seem to have very little protection from referees lately. Very few yellows are given to opposing teams against us this season. Maybe the players and the manager need to be more vocal about it.

I just think that VAR was already in use for a certain red card.

There was definitely enough in the Shaw tackle to go back and review. When you saw the overhead you could see the whole burnley team stop and run towards the tackle. So it impacted the potential red.

Was it a foul? In this game, probably just play on. But it could easily be a yellow (and some refs would even give a red) . In the context of a certain red at the other end, not surprising that the foul is given and a yellow.

Pretty terrible luck, but j just think human nature for a ref and VAR to gi that route.

Imagine how sick Burnley would be down to 10 men. Would have been all over the back pages. Scouse would have been up in arms.

I think the Maguire goal should have stood. But I prefer we won this way.
