Morning. I must admit, when we have been linked with a number of CB's I was surprised when Scholes came out and said we should try and get Wesley Fofana. But watching him last night for the first real time, he was excellent. Read the game well, quick, comfortable bringing the ball out, did the simple things and for a small CB, done well in the air. Can see him being in high demand very soon.

{Ed0666's Note - will take a lot of money to prize him away from Leicester. They don’t need the money and are top of the pile.

Yh was a bit surprised when leicester spent such big money relatively on a 19 year old centre back and then even more surprised that he's played so many games at this stage of the season.

But he's done really well and looks to have all the attributes you need in a modern centre half. I think playing in a back 3 at the start helped him a bit with cover and also playing with jonny evans must have helped him a lot as well in adjusting to the premier league.

In hindsight what a bad move that was to let evans go considering what we've had at centre back over recent years. Mourinho would have loved to have evans at the back when he was here.

Small CB? What do you mean Ports? Do you mean he is young? Or do you mean he isn't tall?

Fofana is above 6'2" so I wouldn't call him short myself. He has looked really promising so far and he is so young and has many many years to still improve.

Leicester do have an amazing squad built from not spending a lot of money. Huge kudos to their scouting/ recruitment department.

Fofana is yet another success story amongst the others.

I do wish our club could pick up a point or two from them about smart acquisitions.

Deependra, I thought he looked short last night. Didn't realise he was that big. For some reason he just didn't appear to be a tall, big CB. No idea why I got that impression. Haha, my bad!

Leicester have a great scouting department by the looks of things.

They plucked Vardy from obscurity, signed Kante, Schmeichel, Evans, Ndidi, Maddison, Tielemans, Ricardo Pereira, Castagne, Mahrez, Justin, Soyuncu and of course Fofana.

While they have brought through young players like Chilwell, Choudhury and Harvey Barnes.

There recruitment has been excellent.

They bought Harvey barnes from shef utd didn't they? Or was he on loan?

{Ed047's Note - he’s always been at Leicester, just out on loan a few times, WBA the last one

Dodgy, Barnes has come through their academy, just loaned out a few times. Proof that sometimes loans can be what makes a player.

Although now thinking about it Leicester did sign the donkey that is Harry Maguire, so that goes against their scouting department. But kudos to their board who managed to sell him for a handsome profit 😂🤦‍♂️🤯.

Shappy,

No idea how they found Schmeichel haha plucked him from obscurity.

GDS, While Schmeichel may have been well known, he had failed in a battle with Joe Hart in the fight for the No.1 shirt at Man City. He then moved to Notts County and then Leeds before he made his way to Leicester City. He has since stepped up to become one of the best keepers in the league for many years.

Not obscurity like Vardy coming from non-league, but a well scouted player who suited the club and was able to step up and help them win a league title.

Yeah I thought that when I read schmeichel GDS! Good post though Shappy. When you stop and think they have some great players either developed from youth or bought in young before they have the big price tag.
