Just watching the highlights again. Robertson is such an unlikable footballer. From his incident with Messi, the "come to Anfield" to Atletico Madrid after they lost the first leg last year. Countless tweets.

You would be hard pushed to find a defender screaming at a striker to put them off in a Sunday league game.

{Ed0666's Note - Robbo an unlikeable footballer? Mumbles you are sorely mistaken my friend. He’s beloved by everyone in football. Super humble guy and all round good human being. I remember putting a striker off by shouting at him when he was about to shoot can’t remember if he scored or not tho. Ok it was a bit unathadox for Robbo to do that but all is fair in love and war unless it’s not breaking the rules. I have to be honest on a very disappointing day for Liverpool fans that was one thing that made me chuckle.

Shouting as someone shoots is at best embarrassing, at worst unsporting behaviour, something you’d see between mates in a 5 a side game.

As per the laws of the game:

“There are different circumstances when a player must be cautioned for unsporting behaviour including if a player:

verbally distracts an opponent during play or at a restart”

So as funny as it might have been it should have been a yellow card and an indirect free kick where the offence occurred.

{Ed001's Note - it depends on what he was shouting. I do agree though if all he has done is shout to put him off it is a foul.}

I'm sure away from football he's a good kid. But in the game, everything iv seen from him he seems like a player who goes on like he's Maldini.

Probably one of those things, if he's on your team you love him. If he's on the opposition team, you loathe him.

And screaming at an opponent to try and put them off is 100% against the rules.

{Ed001's Note - he certainly doesn't think he is Maldini, quite the opposite, he is just glad to be where he is.}

Robbo loves a bit of sh1thousery but he is in no way an "unlikeable" guy in my view. He plays and looks like a kid in a sweet shop, just happy to actually have made it to the top. He isn't a nasty player imo.

Okay, not nasty then. A bit of a Dick though?

{Ed001's Note - I think mumbles has hit on it. He is one of those you love on your team but hate to play against.}

He's the sort of player you'd hate but love on your team. Works hard, makes the most his ability and tons of shot housery.

Unlikeable for Utd fan 💯.

Robertson is a hero for Liverpool fans and a prat to the majority of the rest. However, we have had our fair share of players like that in the past. Remember we shouldn’t like Liverpool players.

{Ed025's Note - hes a very nice guy actually caolan and a very good player, he is not one to berate imo mate as hes one of the good guys, there are many more better options thats for sure..

I think Robertson is similar to Ander Herrera, one of those players who's actually a nice guy, but on the pitch he can be a bit of a s***house. Nothing wrong with that, all part of the game.

Personally I think the players have become a little too "vanilla" in the past 15 years. Very few characters left on the game. Look at United, we think Pogba getting a new haircut is a sign that he has the wrong attitude. It's a god damn haircut, who cares.

I don't see anything wrong with Robertson, he's no different to Herrera, Evra, or Neville.

{Ed025's Note - hes possibly the best left back in the league shappy, barring digne obviously.. :)

Diddums did he scream at an opponent when shooting. He is s very naughty boy😂
A fantastic player and one if have on my team in a heartbeat.
If you are going to dlag him off for having a little yell then slag bruno off for his screaming like a 6 year old girl every time he is tackled or at vdb for screaming like a child for a penalty that never was and feigning injury once no pen he was up ruining like mo farrah.
Red tinted glasses and bias is not unusual for most supporters but a little objectivity woundnt go amiss.

{Ed025's Note - the voice of reason once again ken, kudos mate..

I’m not disputing what he’s like away from football ed25 as I don’t know the guy. But on the pitch he can be unlikeable from an oppositions perspective but if I’m honest I’d expect nothing less. I don’t want opposition fans to like our players either!

{Ed025's Note - opposing fans used to say the same about keane, neville and cantona caolan, im sure he will take it as a compliment mate..

I think Robertson comes across as a grounded young man who knows how lucky he is to be playing at Liverpool and gives his all for the team. Never heard him big himself up or put down an opponent. Is supportive of all Rashford has been doing and been doing good work in the community himself. It was not correct trying to put Rashford off by shouting but cut him some slack. He is still young and has passion which are not hanging offences.

Ken,

Screaming when you are fouled is something that could be said about many many players, this discussion was about deliberately screaming at someone which is against the rules, fortunately Mason ignored it and scored anyway and made him look an idiot.

I was reading down and just about to post he is like Ander Herrera, likeable guy but you hate playing against him, most of my Liverpool mates can't stand Ander, Shappy got there before me though.

That was what I was getting at with the first post Ed! We shouldn’t like him he plays for the scousers. It’s the same way I love seeing them moan about Fernandes.

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate. I would be worried if you did like him (other than secretly) as it would mean he wasn't doing his job right.}

I shawed the interview with Trent about a year ago in which they compared their stats (guessing who has most asists etc) and he seems such a nice guy, he just loves to be where he is and he loves to win. Its something like Herrera yes. And that's why Herrera was my favourite player!
