Martial is a frustrating player, so much skill and ability, but seems to lack the mentality to make the most of it and perform to his ability consistently.

In that respect he reminds me of Nani, a hugely talented player who was never able to make the most of his talents. Although at least Nani looked like he enjoyed playing football.

Martial frustratingly shows glimpses of the player he could be, but then someone challenges him for his starting spot or his life hits a rough patch and he retreats back into his shell for months before he pops his head back out and shows us what he is capable of.

Judging him on his talents he is top class, judge him on his mentality and he would barely be a championship player.

Nani is 10 times the player Martial is - an insult to Nani to compare the two.

I’ll be smiling for a long while when a manager has the balls to drop him to the reserve and ship him out to Doncaster Rovers.

Nani from 2009/ 10 season for a good 2/ 3 seasons was electric. Frustrating at times but always felt he was good for a goal or an assist. Wouldn’t mind having a player like him on the right.

Amazing the revisionism sometimes, Nani was extremely frustrating and was very much a match of the day player, he would smash one in from 35 yards every now and again but his general play was ridiculously inconsistent.

I wouldn’t compare him to martial though as I never questioned nani’s work rate.

For me, Martial should be first out of the door in the summer.

Would bring in some decent funds (could see someone like Dortmund/ Inter going for him) but is just the most frustrating player to watch - all the ability but no effort. No bigger insult to fans than watching a playing who obviously can’t be bothered.
