Morning

Recommended reading today is Andrew Cole's comments in the media.

Manchester United can't play like that. It has to be a concern. If you think you can genuinely win the title or challenge for it, you have to score goals. Playing under Sir Alex Ferguson, the only thing he used to say to us was Go out and enjoy yourselves and entertain.

But if you concede a goal and you're scoring goals yourself, I don't think anyone's that fussed, because you're playing the way United should play.

If you look back, United's history is about playing good football, trying to win games playing a certain way, not being tight at the back and trying to nick a 1-0 win.

Very damning on what Ole is serving up.

The one game those tactics might be at least understood is City away, that is this weekend, but our reputation is at stake and a club playing legend is tearing it up.

I think it's terrible football redman, it has been for the majority of Oles tenure in charge. Thankfully for us, other teams around us, aside from city are failing to capitalise also.

Redman city have walked the league so what is the point of sitting back. Might as well have a right go at them at get in their faces but it won’t happen. A draw is like a defeat anyway. Sick of the mediocrity that this once great club is now happy with.

Some fans love the mediocrity. They don't expect us to win anything. They ignore what's in front of them. Some have drawn a line in the sand and will defend ole no matter what.
They judge ole differently to other managers we have had and they have different expectations and standards for ole. Much lower than they had for other managers. But each to their own.

I don't think anyone loves mediocrity.
Just a silly thing to say imo, when someone doesn't agree with you.

Imo for Manchester United not winning anything makes it a mediocre season. Unless your pipped at the post in the league or cl final.
That's what my expectations are. I don't think its too high an expectation.
But some come on here week after week unless we lose, lauding the improvement and the breath of fresh air as you call it when all it is is mediocrity imo. We have become also rans again. Just like the 70s and 80s. The league will be over with 2 months to go again. Let's hope we win a cup.

Ken I don't think it as simple as that, just because we are man united doesn't give us a god given right to win anything .
For me it's a childish way to look at it .
You need to look at the bigger picture and asses the situation .
A team like united should always be winning things but its not as simple as that .
At the moment for example city are a better team than us . United have made mistakes since fergy left and are now playing catch up .
The take over and fergy leaving where always going to be a massive issue.
Moves was a mistake, as was lvg and jose.
That's football, mangers come and go, welcome to life after fergy.
People can say " I expect to win " so what' that doesn't mean its realistic no matter how much they stamp there feet .
No united fan is happy if we don't win something or lose a match, infact no fan is really.
Although one or 2 on here revel In us dropping points.
But most fans of a certain age understand how it works.
But there is s generation of fan who has know nothing but fergy and 20 odd year under the same manager.

I note jred you say Moyes, LVG and Jose were mistakes, why were they mistakes but not Ole? Personally i think he is the bigger mistake, it is almost an acceptance we are not serious contenders, so someone the fans love will get people to overlook the failures.

Jared

There is a generation of fan who have known United including and since Busby. My generation understands very well how it works and we don’t revel on us dropping any points.

The attitude you have is acceptance of ordinary. If Busby or SAF accepted mediocrity we would have won nothing. Whilst we should not expect to win everything, that’s arrogant, but setting out aiming lower gets you lower.

Inhope he may turn out to be only time will tell.

Redman I don't think we as a club as setting out to win nothing.

Again another silly thing to say imo.

That doesn't mean that Solskjaer's current record 49.18% is good itself, as he currently has the lowest win rate out of United's modern managers, compared with Sir Alex Ferguson (59.67 per cent), Jose Mourinho (58.33 per cent), Louis van Gaal (52.43 per cent) and David Moyes (51.92). This was in January, not sure what it is now but probably lower. So bigger mistake than Moyes maybe.

Maybe i am in the minority but i don't see Van Gaals era as (a big) failure. He was never one of my favourites and the football was difficult to watch.
But in the last 6-7 years it was the only time that i saw a clear style based on possession and although the football was too slow the pattern was there and we only had to up the tempo. The team back then was ready for a good tactical coach to come (Allegri? ) and go to the next level.
I think in Van Gaals last 2-3 months we sawed a really good and fast team upfront with Martial and Lingard changing positions and have some nice one touch football. I think his work started to bear fruits in his last 3 months.
