Hi Ed001. What's your view on Ole and our squad, playing style looking in at United from the outside? Is he being harshly treated considering we're 2nd?

{Ed001's Note - I can see both sides, on the one hand he is second, which is better than expected before the season begun. But, on the other hand, he threw away a chance to push for 1st, the playing style is so bad that it literally puts me to sleep (last night I nodded off halfway through your game and it is not the first time in recent years) and it doesn't look to be getting any better. You are improving the squad, which brings better results, but the teamwork between them is no better. And the defending at times is embarrassing. Maguire looks to be getting worse and surely has to be replaced rather than being captain?

Personally I am of the opinion that you have missed the chance to win the league with City starting so slowly. Ole was too cautious when the chance came to push on and ended up just rolling over and letting City stroll away with it. That is, for me, quite simply unforgivable for a Man Utd team to just meekly accept second. Man Utd never accept second best. It is always about striving for the win. Except now you have turned into Arsenal under Wenger and lowered your sights and settled. I can't see anything changing while Ole is in charge. So no I don't think he is harshly treated, quite the opposite, he is getting away with mediocrity at a club that has never accepted mediocrity.}

Thanks for taking the time ed.

I can see both sides of the argument even though I'm staunchly on the Ole out side. There's a way to win/ lose/ draw football matches. There's been many times after a defeat where you simply got beaten by a better team (Barcelona cup finals come to mind) . There's times where you might have 15 shots on goal and their keeper plays a blinder.

Some games you just hold your hand up and say "it wasn't our day" that's football. But I can't for the life of me watch a cowardly display.

Would Ole have thrown on Macheda with 10 minutes left? Not a chance.

Unfortunately we have a manager that is looking at self preservation first.

I appreciate your views ed, not just because they line up with mine but because you need a perspective from outside because we can get caught up in the argument sometimes.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome Mumblybum!

I do wonder if there would even be an argument if Ole had not been the one who scored in '99. When you consider not one person has ever tried to argue he is the best man for the job, you do have to wonder why any one would support him to continue in the role for a team that supposedly aspires to be the best?} Become a Patron!

You doxxing me ed? Hahaha

It boggles the mind the mental gymnastics one can go through to justify him being the right man?

He's had a great opportunity gifted to him and squandered it. He's had a few Sliding Doors moments where he could have easily been sacked.

He's a snake oil salesman. From what he preaches in his interviews and press conferences, he doesn't practice any of it.

I look forward to Liverpool appointing Divock Origi in 15 years because of his champions league winning goal against Spurs.

{Ed001's Note - that is exactly the point that gets me. Ole is a 'legend' because he scored a goal as a sub. Since when did club legends become players that weren't good enough to get into the first team on a regular basis and showed no ambition to even try to force their way in? Which is very reminiscent to the way his teams play football - no ambition.}

he manages as he played. Very average. Happy to settle for 2nd best or happy to be 4th or 4th choice. He was a decent squad player no more than that. 1 important goal is his career defining moment.

Bang on the money Ed. We should change our name to Mediocrity Utd as it runs through our club like a disease.

I am sorry, but that goal was legendary, not the scorer. If he is a legend then so is Sheringham because he score the first. Calling Ole a legend for that goal is an insult to every other player who put their blood and sweat in that season.

Wow, he hardly scored just 1 goal in his career. It is the goal that defined his career but you lot need to put some respect on his name. Yes he wasn't a starter but he scored some important goals for us, goals that if we hadn't scored then we wouldn't have been as successful. I get you might not like him as a manager and your entitled to have your opinion but you lot have some short memories, maybe your ages are catching up with you and the memories are getting a bit hazy.

It’s sad that Ole’s legacy at the club is now being tarnished in the eyes of some fans, but in retrospect it’s inevitable when you watch us play.

Huh, Ole started a lot of games for the club and scored many brilliant goals, weird narrative to suggest he was just a sub who scored 1 goal.

None said he scored just one goal. But this goal made him legend althought he was not a regular.
Bang on Ed001, what a fantastic responce.
