Anyone else feel a lot more confident with Henderson in goal? The big difference between him and de gea for me is that you can hear him the whole game. He's got a very good presence too and what I've noticed the last few times he's played is his willingness to come off the line and get the ball.

I really hope we get to see a lot more of him now.

I think their pretty even atm. DDG is the better shot stopper, but Henderson commands his box better. Both could do with sharpening up their distribution.

That said, DDG has been declining for a good 2-3 years, whereas Henderson should improve.

So personally I'd pick Henderson over DDG and look to find a solution (move DDG on) in the summer. I also think Henderson's skill set is more useful with our current defenders who need clear instructions and a keeper who will command his area.

I definitely feel more confident from set pieces, Henderson has made some pretty good catches which is always reassuring as De Gea is either rooted to his line or flaps at the ball which doesn't help anyone.

Still think henderson is poor on the ball and will be interested to see if we do player a higher line eventually whether he is able to sweep up effectively.

Think you've hit the nail on the head there Shappy.

I'd put Henderson in now for the remainder of the season because we can't catch City and we have a good enough gap to 5th.

Give Henderson the last 10 or so games to play with Vic and Bob and let him get used to the players in front of him for the remainder of the season.

Play De Gea in Europe where his weakness won't be overly exposed.

De Gea is on a decline and no longer first choice for Spain due to his lapses.

Henderson is probably not even at his peak yet and has a fantastic mentality to fight for his place.

{Ed077's Note - DDG isn't suited to possession style of play. He is a good shot stopper but not too great at playing out from the back. That is why he lost the number 1 spot for Spain, not because Spain had better GKs than DDG.

That's true Ed077, But De Gea let in some shockers during last Euro and he has not been the same since.

{Ed077's Note - World Cup you mean. He has never looked great for Spain even when he was winning PoTY/PoTS awards with us. He just isn't good at passing around at the back. His long distance kicking is not bad but he seems really uncomfortable and awkward when he ball is played around, in and around the 18 yard box. He has struggled more and more as we have tried to play around the box more and more. That and the addition of Maguire, which again has meant playing at the back more

Yes I was thinking this yesterday and even the CBS seem more solid and assured. It's his presence in the area which impresses me, he will come for a lot more than de gea which probably eases the defenders in not having to make a decision. De gea is happy to stay on his line which could be a reason for conceding a lot of set piece goals although there's no denying de geas shot stopping abilities.

ED077,

I agree with about DDG. Since OGS took over and wanted the team to play out from the back, it just doesn't suit DDG.

Also we don't have CBs in Maguire and LIndelof who are good enough to play out from the back.

Do you see or know if there are any truth in the DDG to PSG rumours?

{Ed077's Note - I know nothing more than you do MH, sorry. The fact that DDG is reportedly the highest paid player in the league (basic salary) is always going to make it tough to move him on. Also dont forget that we are very likely going to lose 2 senior GKs already in the summer in the form of Romero and Grant.

Ed077,

I was surprised he was made the highest paid GK given that his form was bad at the time.

It was a sign of weakness from the club to not cash in on him Instead of agreeing a new contract.

If imagine that he may be open to moving. His partner doesn't like living in the UK.

Mad Hatter, with Woodward in charge anything is possible and it isn't really surprising however, it's not as bad as some of the other contracts dished out - Jones comes to mind.
