I think I have finally figured out how this banter site works. I have to decide if I'm for or against Ole and then refuse to accept any reasonable argument that differs from mine. Repeatedly argue the same point with the same posters and jump all over shappy or red man's posts because there opinion is not mine and therefor must be wrong.
Got it👌.

It’s a microcosm of the world today. I have my opinion which is 100% right and you have to agree with me, if you don’t your getting cancelled 🤷‍♂️🤣 Tbh I’m not sure where I stand with ole and other club issues, i think it’s a little more grey than purely black and white though 🤣.

totally nailed it

i've stopped visiting the page as often as i used to because it is just full of people moaning.

I know things are not at the level of the Ferguson/ Gill level but most of it extremely unjustified and don't take into account that rebuilding takes time.

i hope that didn't sound like a moan :-) :-)

Few people in the know like Eds 01/ 02 have both said Ole's coaching is crap so that's enough for me. I see these flaws when watching us plus eds views, my minds made up. Does it mean I don't want us to win? No. But I do want a replacement to progress the side and stop boring us to sleep every game.

The funny thing is my position seems to get twisted a lot.

I supported Ole when he took over as I have done with every manager. Around the time when we got knocked out the UCL it was very clear that Ole was never going to learn and we have plateaued with him.

I don't think we are getting any worse, but we aren't getting any better either, not without signing significantly better players. As seen with the Bruno signing.

I'm not an Ole in or and Ole out anymore, I just don't see the club making any progress either with him or without him.

When they sack, which they will, they'll hire someone else and not fully support that manager or give them what they need to succeed. I'd bet my bottom dollar that within 18 months of the next manager taking over we'll be talking about needing a new manager.

The problems are higher up and until the captain of the ship changes the course of the ship we will continue to go in the wrong direction.

I just think people need to put context into the situation.

Had the same chat with a colleague today Shappy. Until the club buy the manager’s first choice targets we won’t get anywhere.

Eric, I think it goes further than that. Buying the manager their first choice signings only work when those signings are a success.

Salah wasn't Klopp's first choice for example, but he has worked out well. While other players who have been a managers first choice have flopped.

Ultimately it comes down to very well scouted players, and particularly in really knowing what it is you need from a player and exactly how they fit into your team.

Donny is the perfect example of a very talented player, but what is his role in the side? What skill does he have and how do those skills fit into the team tactics. No one knows, so despite being a good player he seems a poor signing.

The issue with the club goes much further than that in my opinion. I wonder what is the Glazer's ambition for the club? Do they have the drive to make us champions, or would top 4 do. If its the latter then at the very best we can expect would be occasional fleeting success. Probably a cup here or there, really outside chance at a title if the stars align and other teams have an off season and we have a big jump in performance at the same time.

Until there is a clear aim, and then the necessary things put in place to achieve that we will stay in the wilderness regardless of the manager or style of play.

We should just have a new page put in place for ole out and the reasons he should be sacked 😂.

Shappy, clearly Donny was not the managers first choice. If he was, he would be playing more.

I need help understanding something. All I keep hearing is the owners lack ambition or motivation to make this club champions again. The Glazers took over the club in 2005. Between 2006-2013 we won 9 major trophies, more if you want to include charity shields in the equation. What was the one constant during that period. We had Sir Alex (good manager), David Gill (good director) same rubbishty owners. We only heard about no value in the market from Sir Alex only after Ronaldo was sold and was replaced with Valencia. Enter 2013 and Sir Alex retired. Between 2013-2021 we have won a total of 3 major trophies, 5 in total if you want to include the charity shield in the equation. What was the one constant during that period, same rubbishty owners, Yet the club has spent close to £1billion in transfer fees, since Sir Alex retired. So are they really the ones to blame? Yes they burdened the club with debt and they take dividends, but the point is they still provide funds. Ed has constantly told us that the owners are not involved in the day to day runnings of the club yet they are the ones being blamed. United fell into this rut because they failed to handle the transition from Sir Alex correctly. If the right coach/ manager was hired from the onset we could have been in a much healthier situation.

I will help you mate.
Our owners lack ambition. So we must see what this means. I suspect that they mean that they don't want the money we spend to be spent wisely because that means that we will win trophies, we will play in Champions League every year, even we win it and win a hell lot more money. Makes sense? I don't think so.
I think the failure to progress every year plus the fact that we didn't go that far, as we didn't reached Champions Leagues semi final, costs us hundred millions.
So to help you and make it clear. In fact they mean that our owners who only care about money (as some posters say), they don't care to earn even more money.

Love,

Sir Alex knew the squad was coming to an end and left at the right time. To win the league with the team we had in his final season was probably one of his best achievements, although it was just because we signed the best striker in the league at that time.

Love_United, if you analyse the ownership of the club under the Glazers something becomes quite clear, they only spend money to keep us in the UCL. Which to the club due in part to the way a lot of our sponsorship deals work means somewhere between 80-120m a season to us.

Under Sir Alex they spent very little, because we had a manager who was not just arguably the greatest manager of all time, but a manager who was able to run the whole club. We had a chief executive who worked well with the manager and understood football and how it worked. Who had good relationships with other clubs and agents and had made many great connections which he could lean on when working in the transfer market for example.

Our success then was based on the Glazers just not sticking their noses in and disrupting a working system.

Once Sir Alex left, especially with David Gill leaving at the same time a power vacuum situation occurred and many inappropriate people ending up in inappropriate positions, with responsibilities that are beyond their capabilities.

The Glazers hands off approach didn't work at that time. Yet at no point since have they shown any desire to change that, to get involved and sort the issues at our club to enable us to put in a successful structure. They agree to spend money when the club needs a boost to get UCL football, yet when we do get it we spend half as much in the transfer market. Suggesting that once in the top four the target is to maintain our position and not push further. Then if we drop out of the top four the ambition/ spending returns in order to get us back there.

Why? Simply because it is about keeping the club in in the sweet spot. Where we earn the most amount of money with the least expenditure.

It should also be noted that the Glazer fortune was earned and built up by Malcolm Glazer, his children who now own the club are not the talented business people that their dad was. Maybe if he was still alive he would have changed something by now. Since his passing all his children have for the most part lost money on their investments. Manchester United being the one truly successful investment they have had. Avram Glazer selling shares to raise funds to fill a black hole in his finances being just the latest example. Darcy Glazer selling her shares a few years ago was another. Rank amateurs who own us, who then employ rank amateurs to run us.

The rot starts at the top and has worked it's way down.
